I paid around 650 ks last time from Bamburi to Moi airport.

The big consideration with uber is to avoid airport runs at peak times. 7 am to 9 am or 3 pm 6 pm.

Finally I've reason to visit Africa for work, and while I'm in the area I'm going to take a little trip to the Kenyan coast for a week or so in the next month.

I've spent the last few days reading the past 100 pages of the MBA, general, and photos threads, and I feel like I'm up to speed on cost, where to find ladies, how to pick them up, and where to stay. I hear conflicting things about the off-season. Some say it's a monger's paradise, as you have tons of girls competing for a limited supply of customers, while others say that most of the girls are seasonal themselves and it feels deserted during the low season. Where does the truth lie?

I'm also trying to decide where to go (down to Diani or up closer to Mombasa / Mtwapa, or even up to Malindi). I hear Diani is quiet even in the high season. Will anybody be around during the low times?

My personal opinion: Take hotel from Bamburi beach, and visit from there Mtwapa town and other places.

Diani is beautiful place, but during week quiet, only on weekend there is some action. A day and night trip there is enough. I personally did not like Malindi, I never spend night there.

If you are first time in Africa or third world countries, Mtwapa may be is too much to you, it is not so nice place. And Bamburi beach: there is beach.

You will always find some girls you like even on low season at mombasa. If you go diani or malindi its will be more quiet and most clubs open just on weekends. I suggest stay you somewhere at mombasa better, like mtwapa / shanzu / nyali. If you bored at mombasa take trip to malindi or diani and have a look how is everything here. Its not so far anyway.

I have been going back and forwards to Kenya for over 15 years and there is not really a low and high season in Mombasa. Girls will be around all the time, sometimes more than other times but there is no pattern I find. Diani is very quiet though the last few years, only Fri. And sat night is worth it. Your much better off in Bamburi beach area and Mtwapa.

A place I use in Diani is African dream cottages. No problem taking girls back. It is just across the road from Forty thieves 100 yards off the main road. Is about 4 k a night. Basic but quiet.

In Diani I have used Sophia Baharini.

It is not in the beach, but it is near Baharini shopping center, which is kind of center of the evening activities. And main shopping center since Nakumat is gone.

Tandori and SharkAttack are places to go at night, in the weekend there these two places have much more people.

Thanks for the info guys, it is much appreciated. It seems that I will stay in Mtwapa and maybe the last 3 days in a place somewhere at the beach in Diani. As far as I understand Diani is too quite for our adventurous taste but I guess the last 3 days I will have enough contact to secure a pleasant and not so quite company at the beach. We'll see.

Now it's time to choose a place to stay I checked Jambo Travellers Hotel at booking.com but for me they want too much for what they offer. Around 50 euro per night and for that I will book a very nice apartment on airbnb. Prestige Holiday Resort seems better, the price is twice lower, have great score and generally I like it more, but I'm wondering few things:

- the comments at booking.com says that it's some kind of a Muslim family orientated hotel and maybe I will feel out of place with a different girl every day).

- some says the location is not perfect, other says it close to the main area and have great location. What is your opinion?.

I'm pretty active at that holidays so If I have to pay additional fees for 10+ girls, it is too much additional expenses.

What about the apartments in Mtwapa? Do you have any experience? I prefer the privacy of the apartment and right now I'm looking at airbnb but it is very strange. Most of the apartments have no reviews, some of the are with a calendar updated months ago. It is really strange, the properties that looks reliable are literally no more than 10. Any recommendations?

Jambo travellers hotel rooms cost much less than 50 euros. Don't book throught agoda or booking.com they charge to much!!

Best call them on phone or email and ask about rooms, but it I was you I don't bother to book hotel in advance most of the times they have rooms. Prestige apartaments nobody cares if you bring girls I was staying myself before, but its little bit more futher from all action. Jambo travellers is much better option. Better always book for 2 person when booking hotels. Also you can download jumia travel app for hotel booking they have better and cheaper deals for african countries than agoda or booking.com most of the times. I will add photo of room prices at jambo travellers hotel (maybe its change little bit but not to much I think).

I can also recommend Jambo Travellers Hotel. The visiting girl only has to leave her ID at reception.

Looking at the Kenyan girls, I really really doubt that I will leave Mombasa disappointed :)) But I have few logistic hesitations and I will appreciate your advice.

First is where to book an apartment. At Mtwapa or Nyali. Mtwapa seems full with action but I watched few youtube videos and I find it a little too. Rural. Maybe the videos made a wrong impression? I admit I watched only 2 amateurish videos, nothing reliable. But they say the action is at Mtwapa. Is Nyali too calm? I prefer Nyali as it is closer to Mombasa and looks a more safe option. Or maybe another location will be better for a "base' from where I can explore the area? What do you think? At that region can you recommend a good apartment or even a hotel that value guest privacy?

The other question is about Mombasa and the fact that it is not the safest place for a lone traveler (clearly not a local) and I am not sure is it a good idea to walk around midnight. But as you said, the party at the bars starts after 11 PM. Any advices?

Also how you will describe the atmosphere at the local bars. Danka lounge, casaurina, heba, the lounge, anuba, tapas, hypnotica, moonshine beach bar. The ones that Pokeris wrote about. Where the girls are more "pro" oriented. I mean where they expect more direct approach like few jokes and then how much do you want to join me at the hotel. Or even to skip the jokes, directly to the money question And where are more "romantically" oriented, where the game has to be played and then of course some money for the taxi back home.

Nyali is good if you want a nice clean fresh area to stay and it is quiet. Mtwapa is a dusty little place, vibrant, busy with people. Mtwapa around the Casaurina area is probably security wise just as good as Nyali as there are a lot of people around 24/7 where as Nyali has a lot of quiet little corners at night.

The atmosphere in bars is always good, Kenyans like a beer, a dance and a chat. Girls are more pro orientated in Mtwapa. Game is needed at the more expensive bars around the Naivas complex. As a single traveller you will be fine, enjoy the locals but never trust them.

For some reason Mtwapa seems to be a rather safe enclave in Kenya.

You can walk, even as a muzungu, almost anywhere in the day or the night. Especially the area around Casaurina and the opposite bars is always crowded. However when returning home I usually take a boda-boda (motortaxi) for 50 or 100 shilling.

From Casaurina in the weekend it seems almost impossible NOT to find a girl of your choice.

Nyali is basically a high cost residential area with large buildings behind walls and you are far away from the action, it does not have a real centre, except maybe the Naivas Mall, that has some clubs, where most of the patrons are rather well to do young Kenyans, who come there for drinking and socializing. Not specifically looking to hook a muzungu. However there are some street hookers to be found around there.
