For Americans, TZ issues only a 90 D multiple entry visa good for 1 year for $100.

Total cost of visa for 1 year is $152 - $202.

    3 M - $51 KE.

    2 M. Free KE.

    3 M - $100 TZ OR 3 M $50 UG.

    3 M - $51 KE.

    2 M. Free KE OR 1 M free TZ.

There's travel and housing costs to consider.

    (fake) residence permit 3000 euros

The whole of Africa is full of (also white) scammers. There's a standard tariff of 20.000 to 25.000 KES. It's perfectly legal illegallity. A stamp alone is not enough. They stamp you out as having virtually left the country. That includes entry in the computer database. New eVisa and new entry stamp. And voil you have another 5 months.

I looked up the Retirement Visa. I just copied it from the government site. It's called the Class K: (Ordinary residents) retirement Visa.

"Documentary proof of annual assured income of at least USD 24,000 of own rightful and at free disposal from other sources other than employment, occupation, trade, business, or profession.

Income that is derived from sources outside Kenya remitted as pension or annuity.

Fee: Processing- Kshs. 10,000 non-refundable. Issuance- Kshs. 100,000 per year".

It cost $665 per year plus the $66 processing fee! That's over $730 per year. Maybe better just do the visa runs. "visa for 3 months for $51 then a free extension for 2 more" as per Slowalk.

I just go to Uganda after 3 or 5 months as part of my Visa Run routine then.

What you just described is a OW (overseas worker) Expats are those who retired on Social security and pensions in a foreign country, the expatriated folks. For example, in the Philippines, it's common knowledge that the average expat lives on about $1400-$1500 per month. And that also happens to be the average social security payments for most Americans. Where I came from (USA), that's the meaning of an expat. The American dude Alex Zaves who runs the "Madagascar Expat Lifestyle" also his own very informative personal FB, retired in Madagascar and married to a local woman also they have kids together. I received some good sensible advice from them in the past, (rent prices and English proficiency related) and never been solicited or pressured to or targeted to sell me anything. He updates his FB with good info about current events. It seems to be good quality. He comes across as boots on the ground!

Who wants to start his own tribe in Africa?
We ARE an own tribe in Kenya. Called the Wazungu. An African knows only tribal system. Actually the Indian community got themselves recognized as tribe. That means they have right to representation in the Kenyan parliament.

    A thanks. For the book.

I found crazy stories. Lots of Greeks used to live in Katanga. There's a sizeable Greek community and a cemetery in Dar es Salaam füare example.

Depends on your life style. Rent can be expensive. But as ballpark with 1000 $ a month you live well in 100 countries on this planet. Can you go lower. Absolutely. 700 $ or less is possible. Depending on your life style and city. One caveat. Have at least 30.000 $ cash for health emergencies. Have passive income. To get a job in Madagascar or any African country is a pipe dream for 99%. And work in paradise. No f. G way.

You get a visa for 3 months for $51 then a free extension for 2 more. I'm always ready to get out of Kenya by the end of the 5 months. The 'fixers" can cost you more unless you're a poor planner and it isn't exactly legal which carries its own set potential problems.

Works in Uganda Tansania and Kenya. All Nigerian scam priests use this loophole. When in Africa do as the Africans do LOL. I agree with you from the US it's not as convenient. But for Europeans it is. There is an African country where you officially need only 500 euros retirement income a month. That's where I'll retire. But. Nobody speaks English there. English speakers have to get out of their comfort zone. For South America you have to learn Spanish and Portuguese. For Africa English and French is essential. Plus Portuguese if you want to visit Angola and Mozambique. That's the way it is..
