Nice and informative report for a newbie like myself planing a trip in 7 gays.

Got a couple of questions for you based on your report if you be generous to help with;

- Why did U-turn down the phone ladies invitations? I ask cause it would be something I will jump on since I am mainly there for NON-Pros. Any warnings I should know as a newbie about cellphone company reps!

- You paid 1500 Ksh from airport to Kerstin's? Or to where? Also I will have one suitcase, you think the airport shuttle to town can accommodate? Which is more comfortable?

- You said you paid the girls from (Casaurina) 1500 for long time. How many hours was the long time? Where they all WGs? Can you find non-pros in Casaurina for 1000-1500 Ksh for a 12 hr term?

- The Hibiscus lodge seems like a great deal to me. Just checked their website. Any issues with the facilities or staff you had? What was missing; safe, A / see or fan? Any theft issues?

After mongering in about 20 countries, I finally decided to go to Mombasa to see if I can find me a new Pattaya! Kenya is talked about so much that I changed my flights to Tanzania to spend time there. I wanted to add my contribution to this website. So I have created a map of the mtwapa town and details about the various accommodations, clubs. Unfortunately for me, Mombasa was a very very distant runner up from Pattaya but I would say a place I am glad I went to. I have now concluded that Pattaya is an anomaly and there can be nowhere that even comes close to it. Just have to accept that fact and move on.

Transport.

Landed in Mombasa intl airport and took the taxi from there. Was charge 1500ksh. As already mentioned, there is also a shuttle to mombasa town for 100 ksh; and from there I suppose you can get a shuttle bus to Mtwapa for 70ksh. These are not great if you have any luggage, and eventhough I did not have much I decided to take the taxi. Mtwapa is a fair way away from the airport. I wanted to visit Diani Beach also but it's 70km away from Mtwapa I think.

As soon as I got there I got me a local SIM for 80ksh + 40ksh credit. The phone girls immediately gave me there numbers and wanted to meet me after work for dinner / drinks. Yeah right! As if I would.

I visited Bamburi Beach a few times but it was quite dead and boring. I went to Casablanca / Casanova but it too was dead (I was there quite early. Left before 8pm on Sunday).

Venues.

Low season is a real bummer as the place is literally dead. I think I might have seen about 4-5 mongers in the week I was there. Casaurina was definitely empty all the time except after 11pm. I went past it at all hours and it was completely empty besides after 11 on some days. Beers are quite expensive in these places, relatively speaking, at about 190-200ksh / large bottle.

Ladies.

It was quite easy to meet ladies. They are quite attractive and they dance. Which really is a turn on for me (unlike Ethiopia where they just stand around). I was paying around 1000-1200KSH (all from Casaurina) for long time but ended up giving them 1500ksh. When I was in Casablanca the ladies told me they hate Mtwapa, and especially Casaurina and that the women from mtwapa sleep with dogs (animals) for money. Literally. The girls in Casablanca told me they charge $100USD / hour to the stupid seamen that come in all the time. Anyway, I was happy with the service I got from the ladies. I don't have any crazy demands. Just a good GFE.

Conclusion.

I was meant to be there for almost 20 days but cut it short to just a week. I got really bored. I found myself just taking a mutatu (shared van) everyday into town for the sake of it! There was nothing to do during the day. I checked out several of the places. Cheers, big tree, etc and they were all dead! The accommodation options are MISERABLE! No TV, internet, etc in most hotels and the rooms are just really tooo basic for my liking. Mosquito biting like never before. I suppose I was not drinking much (unlike Pattaya where I drink loads) so that might have contributed to me not enjoying the place as much. Seawater must have been cold cause I never saw anyone swimming.

The roads in mtwapa (besides the highway) are all mud roads and there are gigantic potholes full of rainwater, rocks, cars, jeeps, bikes, dogs, kids. And a 10 minute walk feels like an hour! It was really annoying that they haven't cemented the road.

I felt safe walking around and back to my hotel even at 3am (20 minute walk from casarunia). I never felt any danger, annoyance and nobody hassled me at all. Well besides the girls in the club. They just would not leave me alone eventhough I told them they are not my type, etc. As I was pretty much one of the few foreigners, they were just clinging on to dear life.

I personally did not like Mtwapa but I am glad I did it just for knowing it and that I have done it. The prices were great, the girls were horny as hell. I had fun when I was having fun. Except when my condom broke. Twice! With different girls. Rough sex!

The food in all of Mombasa / Mtwapa is CRAP. Oily, fatty, salty and limited choice.

I have attached a map of mtwapa town and shown the various accommodation options. I was staying at Hibiskus lodge and think it good value for 1000ksh. I intended to move out after the first day but I ended up staying there the whole time. Kendas Hotel is well located, etc but the potential for loud music playing till 5am put me off.

Been reading ten pages back and so far my concern is with long term stay and cost of lodging:

-Where is a good source of info on local apartments rentals? All I keep getting on google are fancy and nice villas. I like but even the weekly rate ($550) is out of my budget.

- Are any of the beach hotels open for a better monthly rate?

- I am arriving in less than a week and will tentatively stay at the "Hibiscus Lodge" from KuteGuy report. I know some described it as shithole but it'll be a temporary stay till I find something better in person when I get there. I also am soliciting the help of local girls I met online and a couple seem eager.

Brasil when you arrived in Kenya hire a car 4 wheel drive and go around but not to the welknow area's but in Mombassa to Voi and underway you past small wvillages. Be not afraid to stop when you see a target but used the real way.

Willyboy I never pay more than 1000/2000 Ksh but not in Mombassa / Nairobbi but in the small city's book a hotel in small city where the tourist onle passed and have a good time. I.

It is my place for fun and I get always what I want.

Hi. I have stayed several times in the Severin Hotel on business and leasure.As a monger they will give you a room in the side buidling and not in the main building. That is good, nobody will disturb you and you will not disturb others.

The Severin is an upscale beach hotel, maybe 4 stars or so, comfortable, clean, good food, but is more family oriented than GF. However, you should be ok in that environment if you and your temp GF are reasonably discreet.

Thanks Carlos and Lusty! Just what I needed. I will likely stay at the Severin, as I can be discrete when the occasion calls for it, and for this trip a quiet retreat with nice accomodations where I can shag a bit on the side is just what the doctor ordered. I will likely go for one of the bungalos away from the main building to increase privacy a bit.

I'll post a review of the resort with pics and GF details when I return.

Hi. I have stayed several times in the Severin Hotel on business and leasure. I made my reservations directly by e-mail. No problem. The hotel is good.

As a monger they will give you a room in the side buidling and not in the main building. That is good, nobody will disturb you and you will not disturb others.

It is a Germanic hotel, that means they leave you alone and you can bring girls in. The girls must register at the reception and if they are not too obvious "dressed" all the guests will simply ignore what you are obviously doing. Do not bring two girls at the same time in at night. That spells trouble. During the day that is not a problem. They offer also free breakfast and it is no problem to treat your girl to a decent breakfast without any further charge.

Have fund and enjoy it.

Senior resident magistrate Joseph Omburah, sitting in the Shanzu Law Courts, heard that the suspect has been in Kenya for four years and was licensed to operate bars in Mtwapa Town and the upmarket Nyali Estate. The Briton accused of running a strip tease club was Tuesday granted a surety bond of Sh500, 000 or alternatively to pay Sh200, 000 cash bail. Mr Ian Huthson Paul, who runs a night club in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, was also ordered to surrender his passport to a police officer investigating his case.

The prosecutor, Mr Paul Makonge, told the court that Mr Paul's five years and five months visa and alien card expired on February 17. 'I forgot to renew them. ' Lawyer Jane Onyango, who represented him, told the court that the documents were being processed, adding that her client had a family living in Nyali Estate, including his parent.

It is clear that the accused is in the country lawfully save for his expired particulars, ' the magistrate stated. The court directed that the case be mentioned on June 8 and heard on July 1 and 2.

I'll be spending my first weekend in Mombasa soon. Did some RTFF but am still left wondering which hotel. I want something on Bamburi Beach, but am torn between Kahama and the Severin Sea Lodge.

Kahama

- Pros: Lots of recent recommendations, definitely GF, very affordable.

- Cons: Loud (I like to sleep occasionally) , not bookable using secure onlne websites.

Severin Sea Lodge.

- Pros: Looks nice, bookable via hotels dot com, at least one GF review on this site, lots of good standard vacation reviews on trip adviser.

- Cons: Lack of recent reviews on this board, more expensive that Kahama (but in my price range)

Thoughts? If someone has stayed at Severin recently and can testify that it is still GF I will probably book there.

However, you should be ok in that environment if you and your temp GF are reasonably discreet. Their clientele is predominantly Germanic (if you don't mind dealing with the stern and disapproving glances from the matrons in the dining room)

Never staid at Kahama, it's off beach but close to, and has a reputation as serving the sex tourist trade.

I wouldn't worry about the absence of a secure internet booking system : just make your reservation and trust them to have your room available without a down payment (its low season, after all ).

I didn't get the story right but at 9:00 pm news today some girls and foreigner were arrested in Mtwapa.

The news anchors said it was at Bahnhof where girls were dancing naked. (but in mtwapa only lollipop and kendas have strippers)

In the video they showed girls in a police van saying they were not paid their salaries

And some women with banners in their hands protesting against the many clubs.

There was drama in Mtwapa as Ian Huthson, a British citizen was taken to court in Shanzu for allegedly operating a nude club in Mtwapa. Huthson was arrested alongside nine females who were allegedly dancing naked at his Club Banhof located in the outskirts of Mombasa town. There was more drama as Mr Huthson decided he would rather be naked himself in order to conceal his identity. This led to demonstrations by a group of women who were opposed to what they called increased number of nightclubs bringing disrepute to the coastal region. The nine females were charged with indecent exposure, charges they pleaded guilty to. This comes days after another foreigner was charged in court still at the coast for allegedly filming [CodeWord139] acts with a group of local girls."
