As Neddy69 has mentioned many times in his 'Ten Commandments' for living in Africa. No Girlfriends. No Relationships.

When we become to entangled in affairs with local women there is all to great a chance of things going sideways. And if they do the downside can become very serious.

As Leblon recently pointed out, these situations can become deadly.

Cheers and travel with both eyes open.
    1. Thou shalt not marry.

    2. Thou shalt not take a live in girl friend.

    3. Thou shalt trust nobody.

    4. Thou shalt not buy land or property.

    5. Thou shalt not make any kind of business.

    6. Thou shalt lock up all your valuables at all times.

    7. Thou shalt never drink alcohol in excess.

    8. Thou shalt never walk in the dark.

    9. Thou shalt negotiate the price in advance.

    10. Thou shalt never fall in love.

    Live music in Mtwapa

Actually Club Legend had a live band playing several times a week from 5 pm to 7 pm, like the band that used to play in Eagles Nest, and the band of the owner, Ricky Mololo.

BTW, the place seems to have a new (American) manager now.

Still there is very loud music from the DJ played, like for example at the dance competition on Wednesdays.

At the "illegal" clubs (the Shebeens) in the night they play music at a very low level, and the visitors are also asked not to make too much noise.

Other places with live music used to be the " LUO Bar" at the corner near Posta, where the matatus are stopping and the hookers are standing in the night.

The funny thing is that the waitresses there are dressed in Swiss Dirndl costumes, as the lady owner has connections with Sankt Gallen, the actual name of the Bar.

So only girls with outstanding big boops can work there.

Other places with live music were the Congolese singer Ambro's own place in Shanzu, the " Bottoms Up Bar" and the Standard Grill, formerly Status Grill, opposite Lambada.

In fact at this place you can still hear live BANGO music being played, maybe the owner has good connections.

Music itself is not banned? There are some lively evenings in Hypnotica and Moonshine in Nyali, and on Wednesday dancing competition on Legend in Mwtapa.

And places which are open whole night illegally.

Best parties continue to be in Diani.

Dutch guy murdered in Bamburi a couple of weeks back. His wife looks to be the one who set it up and has been arrested for questioning.

I never ever get why a white guy wants a GF in Kenya when there are girls everywhere, every minute of every day for hire. Tell them what you want, agree the price and stick to that. Once you do business or relationship the clock is always ticking to that big problem arriving. After 20 years in Kenya I see this all the time.

    No more live music.

I hope that this does not make any bad spirit against musungus here in Mombasa.

    Mtwapa Nightlife

There is actually a place in Mtwapa where you can go after 7 pm and even after 10 pm. As long as there are customers.

It is a very decent place with good music on a low level. Well stocked bar and food available.

    You can even play pool.

The only condition for entering is that you will not cause any problems.

It seems to be well known by the muzungus, as there are quite a few around.

    Mtwapa Evenings

On Wednesday night there is a dancing competition at Club Legend. In fact the only place in Mtwapa, besides Naiz where a reasonable number of people are gathered.

So the girls in hotpants are shaking their asses, dancing Jamaican style, climbing the walls and occasionally rub their pussy in the nose of a Muzungu. I must say, if the girls would move that way while on top of me that would be quite an experience.

So Club Legend is organizing something every evening from 5 pm till 7 pm, like karaoke night and live band in the weekend.

After 7 it's still busy on the streets and the hookers are still standing on the usual spot along the street, I guess until 10 pm.

Swiss community still hanging around at Safari Inn.
OK, thank you. I appreciate the positive feedback. I'm not familiar with 'Berchtesgarden' ? The others were all on my daily trap line so to say.

Afternoon beers at Big Tree, evenings spent circulating between Safari Inn, Cheers, Casuarina's, Club Niaz and others. What's and old pensioner not to love about that lifestyle. Haha.

And most importantly pleasant, friendly female company readily available. Best retirement home on the planet. LOL.

    Cheers.

    Moonshine bar Nyali Sunday

Beautiful spot to take a girl. Live band DJ after. Though places is full by 5 pm well at least hardly any seats available, packed by around 7:30 pm. Located inside reef hotel. Definitely girls wanting to go home with someone. I met one with a hot body.

    Mtwapa Tales

Mtwapa, Sunday evening quarter to seven.

Naiz club, fully packed to the brim for Reggae Night.

On the other side of the street, Casuarina, absolutely completely empty.

BTW, at Naiz they spray your hands at the entrance with Dettol!

The horrible toilet smell stays for hours.

Nice bar, girls, who are very much used to muzungus hanging around.

    Excellent grilled chicken.

The sad news is that the chef of the small restaurant under Eagles Nest, A & G restaurant, passed away recently. He was a very good chef, who had earned his stars working in the big hotels and the food was very reasonably priced. He was also a nice person.

    Pole Sana.

Then the Marina Restaurant has changed it's name, I guess it's under new managem nuent as well.

One thing: the 7 pm closure really sucks. !
    Thanks for the update Zimzam.

That is sad news about the chef / owner of the A&G Cafe. It was one of the best spots in Mtwapa for good quality food at very reasonable prices. I had many a fine meal and coffee there with Neddy69 during the months I spent in Mtwapa in 2018/19 prior to Covid.

I'm looking forward to returning to Mtwapa in the near future. Just waiting for my second jab here at home then I will feel safer to travel. Like Neddy says 'it will take Kenya and Uganda forever' to get any reasonable level of vaccine's done in their countries. So we get some protection and go then. Wtf eh? I'm a 70 year old guy, I want some level of confidence I may not get to sick. A little sickness I am ok with, death, not so much. LOL.

I'm starting to feel the effects of extreme boredom here at home. LOL. Covid has produced my longest stretch of time at home in 14 years.

I'm hoping the curfew gets relaxed soon, however recent news from the Kisumu area is not encouraging. But, I can tell you, Mtwapa even with a curfew still offers more action than my area open 24/7. Haha.

    OK, take care.

Really you call this a hot spot

The outside sitting area can fit 15 people max. How many girls can congregate there. I was there with with true gent. Unless you are station in mtwapa no need to haul in a taxi to this place but it can be used as a sitting place to watch a few girls walk by but nothing abundant.
