I want to be able to grab cheap dinner and have it at home. A little like Chinese take away in London.

I see grilled corn on the COB everywhere but nothing more elaborated.

Sweet potato or Sweetcorn (maize as they call it) many locals cook on the grills.

Sukuma or Mchicha (Spinach) Beans (Maharagwe or Githiri) are the only vegan foods I know you can get locally in many places. The local stalls / restaurants all sell these foods where the locals eat. You need to ask a few people to point you at them.

Maybe better off taking a plastic container and taking it off with you.

It may be comparing apples to oranges, but my method of handling girls in Thailand was not at all like this. We discussed the point of meeting, which for me unequivocally was for sex. Mtwapa is fine all day, at night just be a bit more careful if you are a newbie. There is a place called Mona Lisa behind Kendas does good food. Others will know doubt tell you other places as well. Eagles Nest food has always been good when I've been in too.

300 ks sounds about right to me.

There are not many "decent places" in Mtwapa to drink tea.
Or you can take a taxi to Yul's

I consider it far too expensive, for its mediocre quality. Better alternative: Char Choma (especially in the evening, for excellent BBQ! Do not miss it).

Or Cafesserie in Bamburi. Has good bakery.
