NAKURU

A small city of a couple of hundred thousand. Less hectic than NBO, more of small town feel with the locals a bit more engaging and eager to hang and be pals. Made some good real friends there who I am sure to party with again. Most of the girls are non-pros and even the semi's what they really hope for is to score a boyfriend. Did not run into any hard cores but I am sure they are around.

Getting there: 2 hours northeast of NBO by bus. You can catch the minibus at the main bus depot downtown, any taxi can get you there. Is not too far from Simmers. The mini's leave every hour to two hours, a bit unpredictable as they wait until they fill up so try and find one that is almost full but it must be direct. I forget the exact cost but is posted everywhere, less than 500K.

Things to do: a couple of lakes nearby to go hiking and check out pink flamingos. Also a gateway to one of the big safari trip areas about an hour away.

Places to stay:

Merica Hotel is likely the best place. I was quoted 4000K/night. A very nice hotel with a pool. Did not stay there as a local buddy recommended a much better value place where I was happy to stay at.

Dimples has rooms on site for 1000K/night. Basic but clean and adequate and in a pinch can serve for more than a one night crash site.

Avenue Suites: this is a key rec. Very good value for 1600K/Night. Center of town, close to all the venues. Safe, clean, comfortable, air con, hot water, no pool. Restaurant in premises (chinese) adequate (which is to say a lot in Kenya).

Mongering sites/ places to meet chicks:

Walking around, market, Merica Hotel by the pool. Millennium Hotel on Government Ave or Kipchoge Ave. At night they make room for a dance floor and place music. The place is mostly outdoors, with 3 separate bars, 4 pool tables, and seats about 100 people. On weekend nights the place is packed with twice that number.


Dimples Disco is small but always lively on the weekends, pretty happening on Wed night as well. It's located at the west end of Kenyatta Rd, near the roundabout. I scored 4 chicks here and could have scored many more. Details on the women's section.

Coco Savana Disco on Club Road, big place with two levels: dead on wed night when I checked it but supposedly pumping on weekends. This is where the hardcores gravitate to suppossedly.

Taidy's restaurant is an eating and party joint located along Ebrahim road. it includes a nightclub that is a popular hangout for the youth on weekends. Good place to hook up. I met a lovely non pro here who sexed me up big time, the girl was always ready to go, pure GFE, never asked for one bob.

I also went to a couple of "locals" bars along the main road. In fact one is close to Avenue Suites, forget the name, if you are coming out of Avenue Suites make a left, at the first intersection make another left, shortly after turning look right and up...there is a bar/dance place there. This place is all locals, I was the only white. Everybody was super cool there, the manager was treating me like I was some kind of VIP. Every chick will check you out at least once. The guys were chill, not one of them gave me so much as a dirty look.

Tickles and XTC disco were mentioned, I checked them out and they were shut down (permanently?) when I was there.

Nakuru is ok for a couple of days just to get more of a different feel than the big Kenyan city.

To follow up, Imperial has air conditioning (the city tends to be hot), but the jerks will enter your room and turn it off. Happened a number of times. They have safes for your stuff. Use them. I saw a cockroach in my bathroom one morning. Free internet in bar is very slow. I often went to an internet cafe. Met a woman (Afrointrod) in Nairobi who was from Kisumu. She is 33 and very hot. it is very sad to read the nasty experiences of ndugu with corrupt officers at bamburi police station. the kibaki government is more responsive to these kind of cases if reported, compared to the period of "nyayo era". i suggest a formal complain to the police hqs and prison(which is under vice presidents office). it is shameful what they do and portray kenya in very bad light.

part 2

we have been taken back to the "court catacombs" waiting to be bailed out or taken to shimo la tewa prison. no one is allowed to use his cell phone unless some cash (200 bob) is given to a warden. i was able to make some important calls before finally the battery died. to receive a visitor that might give any information another "donation" is required. i learned that we will have to be jailed the same day. you may keep all your possessions but the mobile phone which will be locked in a small trunk upon arrival at court. i had a nice lighter, a silver cigarette flip box and some cash (1200 kes). at around 6pm the wardens will collect all of it and handcuff everybody. you then will be herded to the prison bus and taken to shimo la tewa. upon arrival i received my cell phone but neither cash nor the other items. i've been told that these items are with another warden and to be handed over to shimo administration. i also had to go there and surrender my cell and my belt. after receiving a receipt for my mobile i wondered about the whereabouts of the rest of my stuff. i asked the (friendly) warden and he told me that he knows nothing about it. needles to say that once you enter this place the last thing to do is to [CodeWord140] off a warden by starting an (fruitless) investigation. i have to admit though that all wardens at shimo (not the transporting ones from court) are friendly to europeans and assist whenever asked. they know of course that a mzungu has money and favors given will pay off. *same thing in the cell; the bosses there will provide you with cigarettes, weed, water and even food which they cook on their own at night. they all know that once you receive cash you will compensate them buy buying bread, milk and tea from the kiosk. the cell itself is about a 100 square meters with a non functional shower/toilet occupied by 50 inmates. the majority has to sleep on concrete floor that’s covered by blankets and close to each other like sardines. shall i mention the smell at 40 degrees c and the bedbugs all over? *i was allowed to receive a visitor after 2 days and got an update on my bail and some cash. my friend told me that my passport had arrived from nairobi and there are changes to get out before the weekend. after a 2 day bribe marathon and the help of a dubious lawyer at court my friend finally arrived on friday afternoon with the release order. after 5 days arrested with no clothes to change and only living on mineral water (i went on hunger strike and didn’t eat a thing) i was finally free! my girlfriend was released the day before and the other girl couldn’t find a surety and had to stay in.

a week later was the mentioning. having some friends at court seemed to be very valuable and shortly after mentioning "negotiations" begun. my girlfriend and me waited outside the court while our contact had talks with the clerk, prosecutor and magistrate. we offered 50k to finalize this issue not because of being guilty but to avoid month long court appearances and maybe another setup. after about 2 hours our contact came back with a demand of 120k which was an hour later increased to 150k because of 2 charges. we were utterly shocked when we came to know that after paying we also had to plead guilty! how stupid can one be to bribe for his own sentence? we decided to pay fuck all and let them go on with the procedure. on our way back to nairobi we received a call from our contact that the "court" agreed with 60k but still we had to plead guilty. but guilty for what? facts are, the 2 grams of cocaine turned out to be talcum powder but apparently traces of cocaine have been found on the sachet (analysis by kenya narcotics department). the same sachet was never searched for finger prints to prove any of us being the owner. our request of being tested for drug consumption have been ignored and we were put away for 6 days instead, probably to avoid that we would do it on our own. never a search or arrest warrant was issued nor a receipt given for items confirep001ed (which is kenyan law). even if they would have found real drugs, without search warrant the evidence is void and therefore no case. but we know that the law works in mysterious ways, especially in kenya and predated documents could be produced. we finally decided to spend money on a recommended lawyer that is confident that the case is to be dismissed.

i mentioned the other girl earlier in part 1 and of how strange she behaved. the reasons are now clear. we found out that it was her that called the cops and probably put the sachet in my trousers while i was asleep (that’s why she never used the room we booked for her). the lady cop is a close friend of hers and they used to do a similar scam on one of my friends. he told me that after she stayed at his hotel overnight she left in the morning whilst he was asleep. when he woke up he found a stick of weed in his drawer and wondered where it came from. he decided not to care about it and smoked it for breakfast. about half an hour later the girl came back with 2 cops claiming having not being paid for her (illegal) services. my friend told the cops to fuck off because he never received any services but spent over 2000 bob on food and drinks on her. then suddenly one of the cops went straight for his nightstand drawer and searched it. my friend instantly figured what was going on and told the cop that he was a bit late and he ate it all for breakfast. the extra bright cop even had the audacity to ask what he meant by "ate". the chocolate bar that was left by the lovely girl he replied. we were wondering the day we were at the police station of why that girl got special treatment. she was allowed to stroll around, make phone calls and even got drinks. remember, my girlfriend and i had to surrender our cell phones immediately! once locked up in cell at the police station she still had her mobile and made calls even in front of an officer – strange! * her real name is wanjiru but she goes by rebecca. it is now very clear to me that all they wanted was a quick buck on site but didn’t expect us to go to the police station. i also insulted these "fine cops" and believe they took it personally. the good side is that they had to jail the girl as well to keep their faces. i hope the magistrate is capable of a wise decision and keep that hooker away from other tourists by sentencing her for 60 years.

I have not been in such an elaborate scam before. But one thing sticks out from your story to which i can relate.

This is the fact that you picked up the lady scammer very late at night or in the early morning hours.

In both the times I have ben scammed (got robbed of my fon and cash while i slept), I happenned to pick up the gal very late at night or early morning when i was as high as a kite.

In both cases, I was in a hurry to get laid and picked up the easiest catch. The reasons these gals are there that late is that nobody wants them for obvious reasons ie they got a bad reputation. At 3am or 4am in the morning, all the good gals are gone leaving the scum (scam?) of the earth in the club.

It was after those 2 events that i realised its best to pick a gal in a club where you have been early for it gives u a time to see her behaviour.

I recently got scammed, by picking a girl when I was high as a kite. Woke up to find my fone and cash gone. At least, she was thoughtful enough to leave 50 bob, presumably for my fare.

It was the first and only time it has ever happened to me, and I was thoroughly pissed. It was at a place called Checkpoint Inn, in Kongowea. My friends later told me it is fairly common there, as well as a few other places in Bombolulu area.
