The symptoms:

2) High fever (more than 40 °C), vomit and dyarrhoea,
3) The fever comes and goes: when coming You feel chilly, when goes You sweat.

Best to use : talk to your doc abt 4 weeks before leaving for Africa . I suggest you search Wikipedia and/or Google to read up on this topic , and then form your own opinion .

I have not used any prophylaxis for the last 30 yrs bcs the cure for an acute infection is readily available everywhere , and you will be ok again within abt a day after treatment ( and I believe I have sour blood and get hardly ever bitten anyhow ) , without spreading immunity to next gen and very pricey drugs which are beyond the financial reach of the local population .

Sorry if I come across as arrogant but the last time I suffered anything close to what books describe as 'malaria' was around 20 years ago. I became weak, vomited, feverish etc etc. I guess its because I am tropicalised (I. E inherent immunity to malaria). Occassionally I feel feverish but it clears within a day so generally I have not seen the need to take malaria/anti malaria tablets (ugh. They taste like something you should not eat! ). I therefore cannot claim to be an expert on these matters. However I could tell you this much. When my girlfriend was suffering from an attack of acute candiditis, I went to a presentable looking chemist (e. G the one at Bima towers near the General post office in mombasa town), and in my best objective counternances told the lady at the counter what my girlfriend was suffering from, I then asked what the cure could be.
