As far as i am concerned, some people have come up from nowhere with unprovoked attacks on me and my posts. This has made me reluctant to post any new content. In fact its only the likes of Mukio that have encouraged me to post a photo or two otherwise of late there have been more interesting matters to attend to both online and offline.

As for housing in Mombasa, as far as i know the elections has only changed things for low income earners, there is a high number of one/two bedroomed self contained flats which use to be hard to get but which are now vacant. They are typically situated in areas where violence against kikuyus was perpetrated.

Question (for everybody): how's the housing market changed around Mombasa and North Coast/(even Nyali) since the election? I ask because I obviously am looking for the best deal for a couple weeks at a go. I read about a new place in Mtwapa, Claudio's studio apartments. They got a nice write-up in the Standard a few weeks ago. Anybody heard of that place?

I ask because there was once a time when housing agents were pleading to rent me a five bedroom house in Nyali, right on the Reef matatu route, with two swimming pools in it, one huge, one for the kiddies, and for 35, 000 Ksh a month. I could have gotten much less if I knew what the hell to do with all that space.

Then came the boom: last year everything was just plain full, especially going into high season. Has that changed? Wazee wamekimbilia nyumbani ama? Are there lots of vacancies? Can somebody walk in with a serious edge negotiating? Any new apartment places renting by the month?

One of the girls i am involved with is still 'married' to the Luyah guy she met and got pregnant with. He is poor and could not cope with the responsibility of being a father. They want a guy with whom they can let their guard down, have a comfy life, not have to worry being seen in lodgings or with older men etc. Thats why a **** never hooks in her home town. Just that in the event that she can't get a good life, she opts for prostitution.

And this is replicated everywhere in the world across different situations and not just in Kenya.

For example, 95% + of people marry from their own race and from their home country. Why? Its more convenient in terms of language/culture/sensitivity etc. Just like 95% of people want to live in their home country. Most only emigrate because of money/job issues or politics etc.

So its the same for 95% + of these hookers. If they could get a man from their locality/community who can marry/take care of them comfortably, they would not even accept a look from other men/foreigners etc because of cash.

Thats just how life rolls.

Now that the dust has settled i can see this is a nice report.

Typical example, A girl nets two or three older white sex tourists. When either of them comes they get her full attention. When they go, she goes with her 'charlie' i.e African boyfriend, some of these 'charlies' are well of enough to provide for the girl during low season ( i.e rent, food etc etc).

Girls who dont have a 'charlie' can have it really hard during low season. These are the ones who end up offering themselves for 500/= just for food while they wait for the high season.

However there is a class of girl who may or may not have a charlie and never experiences the dry seasons typically suffered by girls who target European sex tourists. These are girls who target local rich men, i.e Africans, Asian, Arabs and Whites. Some of them are Models and pimped by their Agencies to the 'who's who' of the Kenyan corporate world.

They can make tens of thousands of shillings evert month.
