Just as member #2350 says "planet safari" are maybe not the most reliable safari operator in Kenya. If it works it will be Ok but if it doesn't, you will have a problem.

If you can accept that you lose one day you can take planet safari but if not you might have to pay a little more.

My advise would be to check in the Rough guide or in the Lonely planet guides for Kenya for reliable operators or maybe just post something on Lonely planets forum the "thorn tree". You can reach that at www.lonelyplanet.com

You could also walk into just about any decent looking travel agency on the street and get yourself a good deal. Some of the better ones are 5 Continents, Vintage, Acharya Travel etc (all located in the city center).

A few years ago Planet was decent, now they are crap. I used them in late 2003. They had two broken vehicles on my trip, costing one of the people a day of their trip and my friends almost missed their plane. They 8 hour buffer for the flight was down to minutes when we got back to NBO.

Another pair of my friends used them for a gorilla trip. Turns out they didn't book the permits or have the driver pick them up in Uganda. They were ripped of for about $500 each. Do Not Use Planet Safari.

Contact Planet Safari. I used them a few years agon and found them quite professional and cheap. Good bunch of people to use and they are owned by locals not ex-pats trying to make a buck in Africa.

Give yourself 4 days in the wild anything longer will be drive you insane.

Chances of hooking up while on safari are not that great. But if you ask your dirver he may have some suggestions. Remember to tip driver and the cook well.

In Nairobi try the dancers at the Maddhouse(s) after the show. You'll need to arrange to meet them outside the club as they aren't allowed to drink inside. I usually get their numbers and call them the next day- works out better for me.

Mombasa Flo(rida) and Bora Bora dancers seem to be encouraged to party with the guests. I guess it brings in more business. Bora Bora has the hottest dancers followed by Mombasa Flo and then Nairobi. Plus the show's actually entertaining.

Hmm need to plan a trip soon.

Auaind is absolutely right! No big deal to talk to a 'working girl' and invite her for a drink or two. During my stay in '680 Hotel' I asked a girl from the reception for an appointment and she agreed immediately. Obviously we had to go to another hotel for one night, but the extra cost was worth it. Good entertainment, a very nice conversation and excellent sex. And the best part was that she did not ask for money. I gave her, however, some cash for the taxi and an adequate tip. Try it in a way like that when you are sick and tired of the pros.!

I have been visiting the New Florida ( Madhouse ) during my six monthly visits to Nairobi. Initially the Mad house seemed to be a paradise on earth . But slowly the fascination has faded. The girls do not appear to be as attractive as in the first times.

I request fellow Connoisseurs to give some new ideas as to a place where one can find young buxom classic ebony beauties or the contacts of an escort service.

Escort service? Pick up the Nation Newspaper. There's a whole section under "BEAUTY". Just by reading the ads you'll know what's happening.

As for bars here's always Annie Oakley's and Klubhouse. If you're tired of the pros you can try just about any bar - Tamasha, Carnivore, Gypsy etc. Picking up working girls is too easy here so if the pro scene has gotten tiresome you should look at this.

Just make sure the girl understands that it is a temporary arrangement.

my last visit to keniya was a couple of years ago. i stayed in the severin-hotel north of mombasa. it is/was a hunting lodge of a german industrialist and hunter and a girl-friendly 4-star hotel. alas- i went hunting to tembo and [CodeWord117]. tembo was torched after my visit. i heard that it is back in business - does anybody know details?

yeah it's rocking again but only really after midnight. lots of tourists and a nice selection of girls. earlier on in the evening (actually all day but some of us have work to do) cheers is a good place next to bora bora night club.

Best places to go are F1 & F2 (My opinion)

Prices ranged from Ks 3000 LT and 1000 ST

Both places had some aggressive women, and i got a Nairobi handshake as soon as i entered. (ladies passing by grab and squeeze ur member gently ) gets you ready for the night!

Chose your lady and ask her to come over. Make sure to tell her what your intensions are to avoid any misunderstanding. I made that mistake in Mombasa, but we came to a mutual agreement.

Yes, it was already a bit like that at the 680 hotel, obviously the guards must have made some money here and there using this method, so have now gone into higher gear.

As for the Simmers, I have stopped going there as the barman and waiters are extraordinarily slow and inneficient and will blatently rip you off (the word is weak) on your change (going all the way to "No, it was not KSh500 you gave me, it was 200") and when caught look at you with that stupid face or, at best, just plainly throw your now correct change towards you. Very, very unpleasant attitude!

Hello Friends:

If you are looking for a girl friendly place avoid '680 Hotel' in Kenyatta Avenue. My experience there during the past week was rather bad, not to say disappointing. The situation there is as follows: A lot of security guards hanging around, even on every floor (!) one! You think that gives more security? Wrong! The way it works is as follows: You cannot bring any visitor even at daytime (!) to your room - not even for 15 minutes - without being heavily harrassed. They will tell you that the girl must be registered at the reception - even at daytime - which costs some extra money (?)! But they ask you directly to give them a certain bribe for 'breaking that law'. Once you have given them let's say 200 KSHS they won't stop bothering you in your room every 20 minutes with telephone calls or knocking on the door. The only purpose is to increase the amount you have given a little bit more. If you do accept that once, they approach you at any occasion even when you are alone just to ask for more 'support' (one day I was asked to give 1.000 KSHS just for nothing) And that all happened during daytime only!

At nighttime the situation is getting even worse! If you do not register the girl at the front desk the real trouble starts (by the way, at nighttime registration is really a requirement by the hotel management. This costs you then additionally 1.700 KSHS for the whole night). The bribe for 'hiding the guest' overnight would cost you at least 500 KSHS which looks still like a pretty good deal compared with the official rate. But, the lady has to leave the room before the dayguard arrives (07:00 a.m.) for reasons that I do not quite understand. My experience was that the new guy expects of course also an adaquate amount of 'tip' for the conspiracy (actually for what, when the visitor has already left before the shift changed?).

Finally I gave it up and registered my visitors officially. Things are well under control now? Wrong again! As you need not bribe the guard anymore he (or she) is now terrible upset due to the loss of additional income. And so the nightguard was teaching me the following lesson: He gave me a telephone call at 04:30 a.m. (!), saying 'sorry, Sir, I hope you do not sleep anymore? I need some extra money for my busticket! Otherwise I have to walk home!'

Of course I gave no 'financial support' but an official complaint to the hotel management and hopefully things change in the future. But why should you guys take any risk? Simply select another hotel (eg. Stanley, Hilton, Oakwood) and save you from such trouble! Has somebody a similar experience in '680'?

Do any of you guys in Kenya have information on safaris in the Serengeti to see the wild animals? I'm considering going there in the near future.

How many days in the wilds is sufficient to get a good view of the animals? How much do these safaris cost?
Whats the accomodations like out there?

And lastly, are there any mongering possibilities in the wilds?
