Was in Nairobbery recently and stayed at Terminal which is good value for money. The price was about 1500 for a double, you get a clean room with ensuite bathroom but very basic. Works good for picking up a lady to anyway.

Went to Simmers and picked a beauty from Kisoro which left happy in the morning with 2000 ksh. The reception called back and I needed to assure that it was OK that she left. I appreciate that kind of service very much.

I have a contribution to make regarding hotels. I stayed at Kenya Comfort Hotel suites (apartment) earlier this year. The management and security are top notch, and the owners are very strict regarding the staff not being tipped. They have installed a collection box of sorts at the reception, where guests are requested to put any tips or gratuities they may want to contribute, then its to be split by the whole staff. During my monthly stay, not even once did a staff memeber ask for a tip.

Double occupancy starts at about Kshs 3000 at Comfort inn, near Jevanjee gardens, a short hop from Florida International, Simmers, and Koinange streets. At the KCHS double starts at Kshs 3500, but the hotel is quieter and under a mile from city center, its also a stone throw from Annie Oakleys (a bar-restaurant) that's usually full of providers. KCHS is on Milimani road, same as Meridien hotel, a short distance past Meridian. You can check them out at Kenyacomfort.com .

In Kenya its a good thing to keep a copy of your receipt in your pocke at all times. In case security guards ask any questions, you show them your receipt.

Parkland road area is much better then the city center. Impala hotel cost
around 25US$ and the room's entrance is not through the reception.

Overall its an excellent place for girls, friendly stuff and has a nice garden too.

environment is like a bus station.
elevators take for ever.

food is terrible ... even breakfast coffee -

i've stayed a few times at the boulevard.. same owners as 680 .. but better!
down the road from the uni ... past the grovenor.

rooms okay, food okay, no tough security as per 680.
plenty of parking.

girls need to be registered and they charge ksh1550 addition for "double occupancy" if you don't have a doubleroom.

make sure that your lady friend has a "checkout slip" from the reception when leaving - otherwise the gate will send her back for one.

and while we are on the subject ... there's a new hotel opened near the fairview (same owners) at $60 b&b.. called "country lodge".

and they ad that they have in room broadband!

680 hotel is to be avoided at all cost. Take it from the experience that has balled there. Until further notice i think we should fuck it up at the Meridian. The reception here is nice and compliable. Normally they are fast at sleep, or they are in for a bit of pocket money. Mates, it is up to you good guys to let us all in, on what is the latest news on this front.

I trust we all have the cooperation of our fellow mongers in this regard. Nice big rooms at the meridian, i even had a an entertainment area, come lounge last time i was there. When the threesome left my room the last time, would you believe some joker on the door would not let them exit, he was utterly convinced they had done me over.Of course looking for the kickback.

There are several details reports on this forum on the policy of the 680 hotel. You should book a double room to avoid the bribes you will have to pay if you book a single room. You may still be asked for several bribes as you take your girl to the room.

Blastoff is absolutely right, it would be very wise to book a double room! However, the security guards they have on the floors and in every mousehole are truly a pain in the ass (damn, the hotel management must have hired at least two brigades or so!)! Some of them did not feel ashamed to ask me 3 times for "a little support" - within one single day, and after having had received their "regular" tip already! To make a long story short, although the rooms at 680 are quite ok I would rather choose another hotel next time.

This is an expencive Hotel and it gets working girls down in the bar area most nights so bring them to your room should be easy. The problem is, similar to the Hilton in Nairobi, the working girls in this hotel will want up to USD$100 to go to your room as they must pay the prearranged bribes to the reception desk and the security guard as they leave.
