Okay, it's my fault, I was stupid, but here's what happened. I was walking down Renmin Lu, near the south end there's a bus stop on the east side of the road, and as I came up to it I saw some suspicious looking girls hanging around. A couple of them came up to me and the younger one said in very bad English "Come with my sister and me to our room and we'll massage you and fuck you for 100". I really wasn't looking for girls but the young one was ok looking and the price wasn't bad, so I went along. They took me up to a little room up a staircase down an alley, partitioned off with plywood; bolted the door and took off my clothes and put them on a box at the end of the bed. I leaned over, took my trousers and rolled them up with the pockets in the middle of the roll. I lay on the bed. They didn't take off their clothes. They told me to lie on my front for a massage. I did. They started giving me a pointless, rubbish massage. After a couple of minutes I was thinking it was really time to stop the massage and get their clothes off when the young one's cellphone rang. She answered it and said, the Bao an (security) are coming, sorry, we have to go out, after they've gone we'll start again. I got dressed, we went out, they told me to walk up the alley and wait for them. (The conversation was in Chinese, after the first approach. They didn't really speak any English apart from their rehearsed pick-up line). I walked up the alley but I didn't really like the set-up, so I kept walking. I got back to my hotel, took a shower and went out to eat and found that the two 100Y notes in my wallet were fake, bad fakes, with the same serial number.

Now, I should have put my trousers on the bed by the pillow, not on the box at the end; I should have refused the massage or stopped it as soon as it was obvious they were no masseuses, and I should have insisted they take their clothes off at the start.

I'm still not sure how they did it. I think it must have been an accomplice and a hole in the wall or the floor under the bed. They didn't take my credit cards or phone-nothing was missing to cause me immediate suspicion. I'm really glad I only had 200Y with me, but if I'd had a big wad I (hope) I wouldn't have gone.

If anyone has any comments, beyond chiding me for stupidity, I'd be interested to hear. They said they were from Hubei.

I have made the same stupid mistakes.

Rule # 1. Never follow a streetwalker or tout to THEIR place.

Rule # 2. Leave your valubles locked away in a safe place.

Rod the Mod was smart enough to only have 200rmb on him, so not too much to lose. I have not heard of that fake money swap scam before.

When I take a girl to my room I always let her go into the bathroom first, then I have a moment to hide my pocket money. Many ladies will quickly check your pockets while you are taking a [CodeWord140] or something.

I was recently at a Sauna in Xinghui. Since it was a pre-opening special. The entrance was only 198RMB per person (I brought along my girl from the night before.)

The place is awesome. But this is a 'legit spa'. However I was told that there are many spas with extra services in GZ area by the massage girl who was attending to me. All you need are the correct contacts.

But normally. It is very expensive as you pay the normal entrance. And then have to tip the girl for the additional service. So if the entrance is RMB 200-300. The tips would be another 200-300 RMB.

I was wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of these saunas? This is for emergency relieve only as I think I will take a train to CP next week to meet up with some friends there.

Well believe it or not. I am actually being stationed in GZ for 3 weeks everymonth. Sigh. Anyway.

It's cleaned up it's act recently, which is actually a bad thing in my opinion because at it's scummy apex,
it was like going to the Tatoone bar in "Star Wars", complete with various alien life forms, terrible music,
and the feeling that anything could happen with the volitile mix of freebies, pros, drug dealers, murderes,
theives, thugs, and semi-available bar staff.

The bar itself is directly across the street from The Elephant and Castle Bar and around the corner from
the Garden Hotel-area Starbucks.

In my experience most of the hotels I stayed did not give me any problems bringing the girl in after 11 pm.
Only one time I was staying in 2 star hotel and had two girls with me. They let us go up and after 2 hours knocked on my door to tell me two girls are not allowed to stay, only one. I did not argue and let both of them go. Another trick you can use is tell the girl your room number and let her come to your room by herself. They always find a way to do this.

Since I read several "positive" report concerning the GH, I too am registered in the GH. Being a large hotel they cannot monitor all coming and going - or can they. I read that if you get the talent well before the 11PM cutoff, you are not bothered during the night - perhaps that is wrong.

Nothing to report for my arrival day, Friday, as I was mostly sleeping and overcoming jet lag. I woke late and went out after midnight for some reconnaissance. Found numerous SW near the GH. They aggressively approach you and typically ask 300 RMB for a "massage" but that seemed to be just a euphamism as they would quickly agree to FS when asked. I'm sure they would accept 200 RMB as the price, if you haggle a bit, and would all ask me to name a price after I said that 300 RMB was too much. Dozens of girls to choose from and they all kept a wary eye out for police. I briefly poked my head into the nearby "Cave Bar". They want 25 RMB entrance which includes 1 beer. Inside was full of people including many girls and loud music. One cute girl immediately latched onto me and pressed her small breast against mine as we talked while an even cuter girl smiled at me from a distance.

Saturday I went for a long 4-5 hour walk to explore the city; I saw many "Barber Shops" but they all seemed to offer haircuts. OAH called and directed me to some BBS's near the GH. About 5:00 PM I decided to check them out.

Directions: Leave the GH by the side entrance and turn left. Walk down past the McDonalds to the first traffic light and turn left. Go straight and after a long block you start up a little hill whereupon the road forks. Take the left fork and you will find about a half dozen BBS within a short block, each has many girls beckoning you inside. Not sure if you can get a haircut in these places .

I popped into the first BBS I saw and found they were only offering HJ for 50 RMB so I moved on. A girl at the second BBS indicated she would provide FS for 303 RMB (I think she meant 300 for her and 30 for the shop) but I wanted to see what other talent the shop offered and started to leave. She then dropped her price to 200 RMB and I just said "why not". Her looks and service were only 5-6. Age: 24. No kissing. No BJ. Nice mish. She finished me with a HJ. Would not repeat. She wanted 230 RMB with 30 of that for the shop. I just paid up and left.

She laughed and said I was joking; said that I'd only get a "dirty girl" at that price. It was only my initial offering price so I soon raised it to my final price of 200 RMB. We were getting along well and she accepted.

No problem getting her into the GH. She was dressed respectably well (not obviously a SW) and we just went to my room unimpeded. Decent session but again no kissing or BJ. Looks and service about a 7. Age 28 (said she has 1 son, 7 years old - only 1 child permitted in China). I then paid her the agreed 200 RMB, we dressed and I walked her out of the GH. She gave me her card. Altogether a pleasant experience.

They got cameras in the elevators. They see everything. Most likely 4 or 5 stars hotels won't bother a guest if they bring an unregistered guest before the cutoff time. They're not in the business of embrassing their guests. But don't try it at 10:45 p.m. and think you can get away with it.

BTW, there's only one set of elevators that can take you to the guest rooms. Guards always on the lobby floor after 11:00p.m. You can try to catch the elevator on the mez. (can't spell - Haha AG) level but the elevator cameras will catch you. Don't think they don't know all the tricks to get a trick up to your room. Then you have to deal with floor attendant. Fuck early and be safe.

Try before 10:00 p.m. and you'll be fine. Another thing about this type of hotel, you won't have have to deal with a returning angry provider in the middle of the night after you toss her out. Security just won't let her or her pimp up.

But the GH is a classy hotel. Try the SWs along the side where MacDonald and Starbuck are located.

BTW, there's a small local internet cafe near MacDonald that charges 5RMB (more or less) per hour. If you need direction, just let me know. Oh yeah, the Starbucks now have free Internet Wi-fi access. At least when I was there a year ago.

I had KTV girls show up at 2:00 p.m. on their own at my room and there's never been a problem during the days and into the early evenings. Just do your deed early.

But those SWs out on the side of GH aren't going to pass mustard with the elevator security guards.

Some floors have floor attendants by the elevator. Doesn't hurt to tip them for extra towels and at the same time helps to keep their mouth shut when you have an overnight guest.

Just checked into my room a few minutes ago. Was a bit displeased to find the price was 1330 RMB/night plus 15% (tax? service?), as this is about 25% higher than my agent said it would be, and had to wait 90 minutes for the room to be ready. Also, this includes no breakfast and there is noise from construction activity during the day. Only here 2 nights and paying for it with other people's money so I'll stay. (Grumble.)

The "lodging regulations" in the service directory includes these two statements by The Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau (September 1989)...

"You are not allowed to accommodate unregistered guests in
your room overnight or to transfer your room to another person.

Lecherous act, prostitution, drugs taking and trafficking, smuggling,
gambling, wrestling or any other outlawed activities are strictly forbidden."

Anyone have experience with this hotel? They have staff EVERYWHERE so it seems impossible to sneak a girl to the room. Probably would just have to take her by the hand and boldly/openly walk to the room.

I've stayed at the Garden Hotel before, and its pretty hard to sneak anyone in after 11pm. Before that should be no problem. The garden Hotel has tons of staff everywhere, walking around brazen with a streetwalker, is going to get you a lot of embarassment.

If you get a "higher end" working girl, that doesn't dress like a prostitute you should be ok before 11pm. And, don't think for a moment that if you can get the girl to your room that's the end of the story. They will come a knocking, and ask the girl to register, something that most working girls don't do. If they want to be real dicks, they may even ask for a marriage certificate.

One of the reasons I avoid the Garden Hotel. If its not on your dime stay at the Asia International down the street. It just as expensive, and "newer." What's the advantage? You can take the girl up, and when the person comes to check, give him a Mao or two. Worked for me my last two trips.
