HKG/Macau vs Shanghai, where shoud I go?

Recommendations please. Looks like late Sept or early Oct I should be able to squeeze in a week long trip to one or the other. The plus side for me for HKG/Macau no visa req coming from USA but may have to buy my own airfare. Shanghai on the other hand requires a visa but I can use my Delta miles & Hilton points so getting & staying there will cost little. My preference would be to get there & find a beautiful, petite young lady to stay w/me for the duration of trip. If I have to go thru a few to find my keeper so be it. Which locale might be more likely to find a multi day girlfriend & what should I expect to pay? I don't speak Chinese. Shanghai Hilton is at the top of my list there. Conrad Hilton HKG &/or Rio Macau. What say you all?

    Thanks in advance

nope, disagree on this. maybe i underestimated on the zhuhai - chang an. it should be around 45mins to 1 hour. but i am quite sure cp to ca is an hour or more because wadman only recently having drove down from cp to meet me in ca. he told me he took slight more than an hour. the last time when i took a car ride from zh to cp, the driver only took less than 30 mins to get to humen bridge from zhuhai and ca is only about 15 to 20 mins from human. in fact the ktv stars of stars is at the edge of humen / ca which i was told is only about 15 mins from the humen bridge. my whole journey from zh to cp was 2 hours and 5 mins. (however i did remembered that he was speeding like crazy but how fast can a locally made car go? 160?)

i do believe the below is self-explanatory:

oah, i do believe you been in and out of cp more than most of us but however, the difference is, you only spend a night in cp most of the time. you do not go to visit places like the leisure tourist spots of cp and perhaps spend most of the time with the bbss, ktvs girls so perhaps you should try spending a couple of days in cp especially the daytime. there are a couple of nice place where you can take a walk and relax with the girls. i do spend more "quality time" with the girls when i am in cp, instead of just plainly treating the girls like just fucking wh**es, born to this world just for us to fuck, i spend a little time relaxing with them. they are also human and i believe they appreciate us more if we treat them like a friend more than been a who*e (pf course these applies to the nicer girls) this is also one of my secrets in turning pros to freebies. why not? i also enjoy relaxing out and it doesn't cost much just to bring them along. lastly, i don't think what does not work for you, is not attractive to others. as jm had asked whether there are anything else in the days time besides saunas and bbss, i do believe some side track walk in the park may be an option. whether the lake and hills are crap or not, it is for the visitor to tell. i had personally enjoyed the hike up cp and zmt hills and my walk around the cp lake, especially holding the hands of the girl i had just spend the night with. of course i forgotten to mention the golfing option.

doesn't that means he can fly direct or catch a flight to macau? why i had told him to start with macau is because if he is flying into gz, it is likely that he is flying back out from gz. so by starting from macau, he can slowly make his way back to gz to catch his flight out of gz. that way he can be sure he will not miss his flight out.

finally, i am not trying to say you are wrong and i am right, but i think the objective of visiting south china are different for each one of us, so are the points of interest. so, we just need to present our opinions and our experience and it is up to the reader to decide.

    enjoy!

    Geography

A couple things about the geography of South China.

    1) ChangAn is more like 2 hours away from Zhuhai, not 30 minutes. I've made the trip from Humen and it takes a little over 2 hours to get to Gongbei.

    2) There's actually a huge clothing wholesale mart in Humen in addition to the fabric mart. The clothing mart is actually Humen's biggest claim to fame. Most of the small clothing shops in Guangdong do their buying at the clothing mart.

    3) ChangAn to ChangPing is about 30 minutes, a little more if there's traffic.

    4) ZhangMuTou is south and slightly east of Changping and should be 20 minutes tops to get there unless you get stuck in traffic. Train ride to ZMT is less than 15 mins. East of Changping should be Xiegang.

    5) Macau is more like 3X the price (unless you get a coupon or something in HK) compared to Zhuhai and service is usually 1 hour compared to 90-120 minutes. Typical Zhuhai sauna price is under 400, typical Macau price is 1000+. Girls aren't any more prettier than what you find on the mainland, but there is an international flavor to Macau that some guys like. Travelling between Zhuhai and Macau is pretty quick unless there's a long line at immigration which is typical on weekends.

If gonna be in South China for only 5 days, just stick to 1 or 2 places tops. Otherwise you spend most of your time traveling, checking in and out of hotels, trying to get your bearings, and basically wearing yourself out doing nothing to do with getting laid. If you want stuff to do in the daytime, Dongguan is not a good choice. There's basically not much to do except maybe golf at a few towns. Zhuhai at least has beaches, Shenzhen has shopping, and Macau has casinos. If your most basic desire though is to get laid, then Dongguan is the best choice, and just about any town in Dongguan is fine. Changping gets a lot of press for 3 reasons, a lot of HKese go there and have made it extremely popular, there's a LOT of KTVs within a short walking distance, it's fairly laowai friendly compared to other towns, although I think Houjie is probably the most friendly towards laowais.

As for safety, South China is pretty safe. I would feel a lot safer walking around dark unlit alleys in a grotty town in Dongguan at night than walking around dark alleys in Newark NJ. A guy I know who works at immigration mentioned something to me last month which was mildly interesting. Lately, the criminal element, if you encounter such, tends to be more desperate. He thinks it might be because of the recent winter and high inflation, or whatever. He says lately, his friends in the Public Safety Bureau have seen a lot of cases where guys get beat up really bad because they didn't have enough money on them to satisfy the muggers. It makes sense in a way, if 5 guys jump you, and you only have 200RMB on you, they're gonna be pretty pissed and they might be inclined to take it out on your hide. Take that last paragraph for what it's worth, some guy's opinion, which like assholes, is something we all have but we didn't pay for.

    No flame intended

    AG,

Did you read this guy's post? He tells you he is flying into GZ, but you tell him to spend a few nights in Macau where he has been before. He specifically asks how to split his time between SZ, CP, ZH and HK.

With all due respect to you as moderator of your own forum, I disagree with your advice.

First of all, ZH is one of the most attractive cities in S. China and has several interesting things to see. And, there are a couple of the best hot springs available nearby.

Second, you must have a jet-propelled automobile to make it from ZH to Chang An in 30 minutes. It will take an hour at least. Chang An to CP is less than one hour. CP sightseeing???? Why would you want to go up a hill to see the crap that is CP? I have never been to the lake or the zoo, but I cannot imagine it is much to see either.

    My advice follows:

    1) Skip GZ and SZ
    2) CP for a couple of nights where all options are available, BBS, KTV, Sauna. Jia Yi KTV flower street is a must see.
    3) ZH for a couple of nights for LHL and the value for money saunas, sightseeing and side trip to hot springs.
    4) Ferry from ZH to HK and one night in Wanchai to experience the global smorgasboard that is Fenwicks with a side trip to Neptune Bar. Warning: Stay out of the go-go bars with the touts out front.

    Just my POV.

I fly into CAN but have 5 free days and don't know how to divide the time between Chongping, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, and maybe a visit to Hong Kong. Based on the number and quality of reports, there seemed to be better choices than Guangzhou.

I definitely want to try a KTV in Chongping or ChangAn one night. After that should I go to other cities? How many?

What is the difference if any between them? Is there anthing to do in the daytime in any of these places (e.g. hot springs, hiking) other than the BBS or sauans? It seems Macau is good for the most attrative girls, but more expensive than Zhuhai. Also is traveling between these places a hassle?

A little about me. 40yo, white as snow, but can speak passable conversational Mandarin. Married to an asian, but we live in USA. Price isn't too much of an object given what i have read for the going rates, which I will make sure to negotiate to reach.

I will appreciate any advice you wish to impart.

Macau is a good city to visit if you like to try your luck in the Casino, good food and Saunas. But as you said; it's more expansive than if you are than in the mainland. If you are coming into Macau, spending a night or two in Macau, going to Zhuhai from there will will be a good choice. Macau is a 55mins ferry ride from HKG.

Once you cross over to Zhuhai, you would find the prices of Saunas, SWs and most everything goes down by half of Macau's price. Zhuhai is a small city with little Non-mongering kind of activities. you would want to go over there for the Saunas and SWs though. In Zhuhai, Lotus Road is not a place to be miss where you find SWs, Saunas, KTVs, Shopping, Bars etc, but be careful of touts.

From Zhuhai, it is easier to get to ChangAn because it is only a 30mins away by car. ChangAn is an industrialized town, there you would find BBSs, KTVs, Saunas. Nothing much of Sightseeing. KTVs there is something which you should not miss. If you want some nice suits made, drop by the fabric market in Humen.

An hour ride from ChangAn will takes you to Changping. ChangPing is basically a wankers' town. No man cannot get himself laid in this town! All you need to do is pay and you will be very sure there will be girls willing to let you fuck them. Spa, BBS, Saunas, KTVs, SWs, Freebies and many more.

There are some sightseeing spots in this town like the Changping Zoo (It's small) where it is situated by the lake. A nice morning walk by the lake will take you through some nice visits of Temples and a hike up the highest hill in Changping where you can view th whole surrounding area of Changping.

If you really like the hiking part, drop over to the Kuan In Hill in Zhang Mu Tou, a small town 20mins South East of Changping. There you can take a hike up the highest hill of Dongguan and also enjoy a visit of the temple on top of the hill with a Vegetarian lunch at the restaurant up on the hill.

From Changping you can also move on to other surrounding town like Houjie, Dalang, Jiaotou, HuangJiang etc etc, but you would find that everything that you can find there is available in Changping.

Guangzhou is a good hour away by car or 30mins by train. You would like to make this your last stop for the tourist stuff before flying out of GZ international Airport.

For details of BBSs, Saunas, KTV, Spas, SWs, or how you get from town to town; please read the respective threads.

Actually five days is not a lot of time consider that I had only mentioned here 5 to 6 town, 5% of what you can find in South China

Lastly; this is South China, keep your wallet, passport and cards locked the hotel safe and bring only a copy of your passport and enough money if you are going out and around.

Enjoy you stay in the South China!

The only way you can make initial contact with members on the board is to have the PM system. Its only cost US$20.

I am sure if the someone from the Shanghai gang will meet you.

    Enjoy!

There are many options in Shanghai.

    1) PM any of the Shanghai Gang and if they are free, they can bring you around (for Free - may be you buy them a beer?) You will have a selections of BBS, BJ Pubs, Chat bars (with or without take outs), Saunas an even SWs.
    2) Read the forum on Shanghai threads and you will try to figure out yourself. There are couple of good reports on Shanghai with links in the ROD.
    3) Hire Dragon D (But warning: you will be paying high prices for his services) And get a door to door escorted Sex tour of Shanghai.
    4) Call the in house massage or Sauna. (Depending on the hotel you chose).

If you have a taxi driver contact, he is likely to be getting a commission out of where ever places he is bringing you too.

Hilton Shanghai is a nice hotel centrally located surrounded with many place for mongering. While Holiday Inn Vista is nearer to the Shanghai train station but I will not recommend staying there as the rooms are not outstanding nor the security around the train station is that great.

    Hope that answers your questions.
    Enjoy!

If you're coming to China for the culture and want to tour the sights of Shanghai and hang out on the Bund, then by all means, go there. If on the other hand all you're looking for is to get laid a lot, South China is better. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but just thought I'd put it out there. And who's "Davey the taxi driver?"
