Anybody knows if the new Gansevoort resort (US $675/ night) is chica-friendly? I don't want to do all that work talking a girl down from RD $3000 to RD $1500 TLN only to find out I can't bring her back to my posh room. Thanks in advance.

No problem, Elmo, but I'm a Cuba libre drinker myself, funny thing is I have allergies to most beers, but I can drink Presidentes all day with no problems. I will split time between new garden and casa Valeria, shouldn't be a problem spotting me.

I will be on the ground in a few days. I always liked Rick and will check in at Rockies. I will give an update. It appears Rick is in deep dodo.

Posts: 54662 Different Hotels, Both good for different reasons
Spent my first night at Sosua Suites, if you're looking for convenience, it's the perfect spot, especially if you're staying long term. From the Metro bus stop at the Texaco, it's about 2 blocks, a short walk even with luggage. Rumbas is just a block away and Merengue is right around the corner, decent food is all close by, a Colmado is across the street and it's a short walk from the private beach. The rooms could use some maintenance, but they are clean and spacious and Kelsey, the manager is a great guy, he drove me down to Plaza Europa after I checked out.
There's quite a bit of noise and the short stay price is a bit high, but I understand the rate for longer stays is much better.
Plaza Europa is another great hotel, for some different reasons. It's a few blocks away from the action, so it's very quiet at night. The rooms are very clean and the a / see keeps the room nice and cold. There is a large swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym and laundry. The front desk also does currency exchange, current rate 44.0 pesos per USD.
I really haven't found anything bad about this place, the price is great, the room is great, the WiFi is great, the cable is great, with movie channels and 3 porn channels. Even the water pressure is good. There's a nice furnished balcony with a view of the pool. The only little thing is the TV, it's quite small, but if you are coming to Sosua to watch TV, you really need to reconsider.

Posts: 113Rick from Mary Rose apartmentos
Just wondering if anyone has an update on Rick the former manager / owner of Mary Rose apartments. One of the nicest guys I have ever met in Sosua, really a big help to me on my last trip there in January of this year. Understand he was deported back to Canada by Interpol to face some fraud charges. Anyone got an update on him and if the Mary Rose apartments are still running right along??

Posts: 148New garden handled my resv with no problem
I normally stay exclusively at casa Cayena, dunno the occasion but it's Sosua I'll still have a smile on my face. I will never return to Seabreeze ever again; however, I wondered why the security guard treated me so nicely there, but I peeked out the window one late night and surely enough he had a ringside. Seat to look above at my room and gaze straight thru my window while I was servicing the chicas. I guess those world war 2 era drapes need changing.

Looks like Casa Cayene is fully booked for the week after Memorial Day weekend (May 24-31). Looks like every other hotel has vacancies that week; however. I think I have it narrowed down to Casa Valeria or New Garden, I'm guessing we've made Casa Cayene so popular that business is booming, so plan your trip in advance.

Stayed here in January. They are new (I think open since August). Chica friendly, only catch, if the chica is spending the night, they charge double occupancy. I didn't have a problem with this, room was only $30 a night, so what's another $10. Bringing the chicas during the day, they do not charge nothing. Bar prices are almost half then price downtown and a great breakfast. Hotel is a bit out of the way, but clean, I mean clean! They have hot water and 24/7 electricity. Room was cleaned daily and they supply everything including shampoo. I have stayed a lot of places here by far this was the best, but a far out of the way, but I don't mind taking concho.
