I've finalized my initial hotel, Maria Louisa, I'll stay there for a few days while I'm out searching for a better deal. I've not heard back from Nido Inn, Los Americas will not budge, even with a cash bait.

I stopped by the Nido Inn the day my money disappeared. If they would have given me a good deal I would have switched. They wouldn't budge on their prices, however.

For anyone checking in, I'd always email them and ask that you've heard about room thefts and want a safe/lock box in your room. If a lot of people mention it, then I'm sure that something will be done about it.

I still really like the ML, and hope that they put the safes in the room.

Funny comments by Surfer about the loonie overtaking the USD in latin america. With Paul Martin's government into deep, deep shit (call for elections, money scandal, etc.), i doubt it's gonna happen soon.

To the board. This dude Screwed Up had me tripping (laughing) due to the unbelievable shit he was pulling off in normal spots. I'll leave that mention at that. I'll just say, he's got nuts the size of two icebergs in the Artic. LOL!!! He's a stand-up guy in every way. I thought he'd be tied down by his novia. No way, even it was even wilder when we hung out. She came along. We hit Pub Cubano, Bierhaus, Medival, and maybe other spots in Miraflores (I forget), getting drunk all along the way. Eventually, we lost each other and went our separate ways. Of course, at 4-5 in the morning or something, I ended up in Tequilas.

Next day, as I was headed for the airport, Screwed Up shows up at the hotel (Maria Luisa) with our crew from the previous night to take me to the airport. We get there, I offer gasoline for the ride (since I was already planning on paying the taxi). He wouldn't accept it, his girl would have none of it, I'm stuck with these freaking Peruvian soles. LOL!!!

Bottom line, Screwed is a stand-up good dude. If you ever get the pleasure of hanging with him, you need to be ready for the hardcore, then be ready to have a good time. He's a real deal dude amongst us. Thanks Screwed and send those pics!!!

Well I'm back in New York now and everything seems better in lima at this moment.

The last night I was there I went to las Cucardas with Jamie, another member of the forum, and I enjoyed myself. $4 to get in and I gave the girl $20 wich included a tip. Unfortunately Peru doesn't have much. 15 hours of sand downcoast to the Chile border, an overpriced tourist destination of Cusco (even Peruvians admit it's a rip off). I hear Trujillo in the north is greener with nicer beaches but there are other options in South America. I loved the people of Peru and my heart goes out to them.

It all depends who you are and what your looking for. I would go back to Lima I just have a few other places to check out beforehand. Colombia sounds great as well as nicaragua. I'm going to explore the carribbean coast of south america. I feel many surprises await me.

If you get the chance listen to musica negra from a town called "Chincha" and try different assortments of "tejas" at the candy stores.

I wouldn't go that far. Our trade is very tightly intertwined with yours. We go as you go. Although we're moving to diversify it more and more Yeah a bit of a hyperbole me thinks.
