My only hesitation is that Av. La Marina does not look like the nicest/safest of areas.

I would think its no different than lince. San miguel plaza is right there so its not like hanging out with a callao(although close) crowd.

I would say check it out and be out of there by 1am the first time around. The turn off to me is having to walk into half empty clubs until you find the right one.

I was planning on doing just that but lately I havent been a night person. I prefer a good afternoon lay a nice dinner then a movie.

Funny you should ask because they caught my eye also on my last trip. I asked the taxi driver about them as we drove to the airport and he mentioned that there is talent to be had but did not provide specifics and neither can I as I have never actually visited any of them. However, Elberto's comments about frequenting areas where gringos are rare may apply here. My only hesitation is that Av. La Marina does not look like the nicest/safest of areas.

It has been my experience that gringos are desirable to Peruanas in general, and from the US in particular. Outside Miraflores and a few other neighborhoods gringos are rare so the Peruana conception of Americans is formed from the American TV shows. They might have seen the dirty Lonely Planet backpacker types but you know better than to look sloppy and be dirty when seeking Latinas, right?

Think about the following points, then extrapolate and formulate your game plan:

1) Girls in nightclubs in areas with lots of gringos are more likely to have had contact with American men so your novelty and desirability are lessened.

2) Girls in nightclubs either a) have money themselves b) are interested in your money.

With these things in mind it would probably be a good plan to go places with few gringos and make excuses to meet the chicas who would like to meet a gringo but are prohibited by circumstance. For instance, a girl selling trinkets in a mercado or on the street might enjoy chatting with a friendly gringo.

If this guy knows some basic Spanish and can ask her name and if she has a boyfriend or husband that might be a good place to start. If she is single it would be a good idea for the guy have learned how to say something like "A beautiful girl like you with no boyfriend/husband? How is this possible?"

If this guy really has it going on he will say that since she is so beautiful and single he would be very happy when she has free time if she would go with him for ice cream and he will have a pen and paper to exchange email and numbers.

Then the guy will follow up, get together, and work hard to make sure the girl tremendously enjoys her time with him.

After summarizing Guayaquil as "it sucks" and Quito with one chica, the same chica Full Throttle and I found to be the sum of all fears, I see WB has shifted boards. I thought I had a Hamlet-y complex in taking 37.61 seconds to make a decision, soliloquizing every angle aloud. I like hearing new perspectives but damn, WB takes Hamlet to a new level, 1489 questions for every taco sampled.

Yes, Peru is not at all like Colombia or Cuba. If it's strictly sex you want you should go to those places. But if you want someone who will genuinely enjoy being with you and doesn't just see you as an ATM, Peru is the place. This difference is a very important one to me, not to some others.

It has never taken me six days to bang a girl in Peru (I am rarely in Lima for six consecutive days as my trips tend to be shorter). The best case scenario is not that she has 3 consecutive days free but that you bang her the day you meet her. The real question is whether you meet the right girl on day 1 or day 7 of the trip.

I will have to agree with Cat. I think most guys do at least two-three coffee dates a day, which are 45min -1 hour, and only repeat and up the ante to lunch or dinner or movie if the vibe is there. Never bring/meet a girl at an expat spot unless she is fugly or we will steal her. Still plenty of time to fill in the nights with Tequila´s or even better, Just ¨hookin up¨with a regular girl from (fill in name of your favorite haunt).

Time of course is the factor: It is summed up by this equation:

Total Vacation Time = Time to Acquire Taco + Time to Enjoy Taco

Or better yet:
Time to Enjoy Taco = Total Vacation Time - Time to Acquire Taco

Time To Acquire Taco = 3 dates (at one date every other day) = 1 week (7 days) Best case scenario is that she has 3 consecutive days free beginning with the first day of your arrival, giving you a 3 day Taco Acquisition Time (this is and unlikely, hence the 7 day Taco Acquisition Time)

Therefore

If you have 7 day vacation
Time to Enjoy Taco = 7 days - 7 days = 0 days

If you have 14 day vacation
Time to Enjoy Taco = 14 days - 7 days = 7 days

Conclusion:
If you have a 7 day vacation, it is better to PURCHASE your tacos in the "Fast-food" style of Tung or Ezinho and thus be guaranteed of a meal.

Since I post quite a bit on this forum, newbies may be under the false impression that I am a Lima resident or expert. I would like to clarify that neither of these statements is correct.

I am not a Lima expert and have never claimed to be any such thing. If you read my posts you will notice that I have often deferred to locals on issues I know nothing about. For example, when people ask me to comment on cities outside of Lima that I have never visited or ask me about places like the Troc, that I have also never visited, I direct them to in-country resources such as Lima Busy, Sly One and Polvo or even those masters of budget mongering, Tung and Artisttyp.

I do what I do (and with some success, I might add). It is limited but it works for me. Yes, it is relatively high-end compared to some of the mongering that is reported here but my days of screwing $15 *****s in dingy rooms are behind me (I sincerely hope). I screw nice women in comfortable surroundings, usually after a nice dinner. If that is a crime then I am guilty as charged. Though I travel to Lima several times each year, I rarely venture outside Miraflores as I do not need to. I have been as far a-field as Barranco, San Isidro, San Borja and even the perilous Centro (Having stayed at the Sheraton a couple of time before discovering the Marriott). But you have never seen me post in the Cusco, Arequipa or Ica threads. Why? Because I have never visited any of them.

If people on this board have questions about how I go about mongering, what works for me, how to pick up non-pros in Miraflores, my experiences in Lima or other subjects that fall within my knowledge base, I will continue to respond to them, regardless of what the naysayers have to say. When people have questions about topics that I know nothing about, I will continue to keep quiet.

I am not posting this by way of apology, or anything, but wanted to clarify my position given a few recent remarks made regarding "self-appointed" experts. I am not a Lima expert, let alone a self-appointed one. That does not mean that I do not have something to contribute to this board, not least of which are the photos that I have posted over the past 12 months (which I would venture to say is the most photos posted by anyone in the combined Lima + Peru Photo Gallery).

In summary, when I have something to say I will continue say it. For specific questions regarding in-country activities and locations, please direct your questions to the guys who live there and are connected with what is happening on a day-to day basis.

I would also like to point out that everything I post is factual and based on my experiences in-country. I do not make up any of this stuff up, contrary to what has been implied by certain individuals who shall remain nameless but know full well who they are.

I hope I am making myself clear here and I would appreciate it if the nonsense stopped with this post.

Yes, I agree. Dating regular girls and semi-pros becomes expensive very quickly once you rack up the true costs, namely: Meals, drinks, taxi rides and gifts.

As with for the topic, it depends on your priorities. A pro is a definite lay, a regular girl isn't. It all depends on what one wants to do. Some prefer the thrill of the chase, others prefer the sure thing.
