    Bombs

    Just heard the following rumor:

Thaksin supporting army personal is behind the bomb attacks. Up to now 20 high ranking military staff was arrested.

To be honest, I hope this is wrong. And I cannot really believe it, it would be too stupid.

    True.

Obviously 7 bombs exploded simultaniously, in different areas of the city. 2 people dead, more than 20 injured.

    Military is on the streets.

The big countdown celebration at WTC is cancelled.

    Reports of bombs in Bangkok?

I just turned on the news here in the US and they are saying some bombs just went off in Bangkok. I guess all of our fears about the southern problems moving north may have happened.

There don't appear to be too many details out yet. Hopefully someone there will let us know what is really going on.

Here is the initial CNN report:

BANGKOK, Thailand (CNN) -- At least four explosions have ripped through several areas of downtown Bangkok wounding at least 12 people, police say.

Sunday's blasts came as residents prepared to celebrate New Year's Eve at midnight (noon ET).

Chief government spokesman Yongyud Maiyalab warned people to be cautious but not to panic.

One blast occurred at a mall near the Victory Monument in the center of the Thai capital, Reuters reported.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility

End of Year Odyssey at Livingstone’s

ok, this is hopefully going to be a long report, so gentlemen, please bear with me as i jot down a few thoughts, compose a line or two and relive some very great memories.

to begin with, let me introduce myself. my handle is crapgame. where did i get this dumb handle? well, it's in honor of don rickles character in "kellys heroes". this of course is rather ironic since my personality is much more like the character oddball then crapgame in what many consider the greatest bank heist/wwii movie ever filmed. (but then again, how many bank-heist/wwii movies are there to be honest?) anyway, i digress. who am i? just a dumb guy who has been far more of a lurker then a poster on this board during the past few years. this of course was due to lack of interesting encounters that i thought the world would be interested in reading about. but that has changed, (and for the better) in the last few days during my stay at livingstone’s. so gentlemen, the bard in my soul has been awakened and i must write.

    day 1: december 27th.

i arrive in bangkok on a 7am flight. during my flight from the middle east and a stopover in colombo, sri lanka i had the opportunity to bump into a really cool older english gent. now, i have never been to bangkok, or thailand, and i couldn't remember any advice given on this board on how to proceed from the new airport to the city. the only thing that i had in hand was a printout of phuquer's "5 days in bangkok" itinerary. (i also didn't bring my laptop with me since i didn't feel like lugging it around.) this of course was written when the old airport was up and running. in phuquer's report he states that it should cost about 500 baht or so to get into the city. well, this older brit who i had bumped into told me that the new airport was about twice as far from the city as the old one. so, i'm thinking about 1000 baht or more to get into the city. [at the time i compose this, i still don't know what a good rate is from the airport to livingstone’s. hopefully someone can tell me.] anyway, coming out of the airport i'm faced with my first decision. take the aot, airport official taxi, or something else. my brit friend said that anything under 2000 baht should be fair. well, wouldn't you know it, a cute lady hawker caught my eye, and already thinking like a dumb guy i follow her to her company's taxi stand. she had quoted me 1200 baht and i guess that sounded ok. so, she drops me off at the curb and i got 2 guys from her company jabbering into walkie-talkies calling in a cab. the cab comes about 10 minutes later and he brings me into the city. the ride was interesting for a couple of reasons. # 1, there are some huge billboards on the side of the road, and # 2 it looks like the sky train is being built up to come out to the new airport sometime in the near future. if this is the case, one could take the sky train to livingstone’s. there is a station about 100 meters se of soi 33 on sukhumvit. (i bet this sky train is gonna tick off the taxi drivers to no end.) anyway, the taxi ride took about 30-40 minutes methinks to get to old soi 33 and livingstone’s front door, which i almost missed. gentlemen, livingstone’s is about 50-60 meters past the novotel on the left hand side of the soi. there is a huge tree whose canopy overhangs the entire street right at the entrance. well, i'm in a vacationing mood so i tip the taxi driver 200 baht and bid him farewell. buy now, it's about 8am and i'm at the famous livingstone’s.

ok, walk on in and i check in. i had reserved a room a month earlier via email with giottos, # 2 and they were expecting my early arrival. room check in was relatively ok. there was a slight mishap at first with me being sent to the wrong room, but all was taken care of within minutes. i get to my room and promptly take a shower and crash. around noon i get up and am ready to start exploring bangkok. now, i had phuquer's bangkok itinerary in hand and decide i want to get something going right away. so i stroll on down to sukhumvit, cross it and start making my way up nw to the lower number soi's. as i'm walking and seeing the sights and sounds and smells of sukhumvit, i decide to give [CodeWord900] a try. so, off i go and get a welcome bbbj to begin my afternoon. this was way down on soi 8 and i had walked there. it took about 30 minutes to walk. after [CodeWord900], i stroll on back to sukhumvit, check out the outdoor bazaar on the crowded sidewalks and decide to check out eden club after checking out a tailor or two. eden club entrance is relatively narrow but i was able to find it ok. i go on inside, check out the prices on the menu. 1 girl is now 1800 baht. [i can't remember what the 2-girl combo is, sorry.] well since it's about 2pm there are only 6-8 girls working. all of them line up on the right side of the yellow line, no girls on the left. of the girls that were there, i would say most fell into the 5-7/10 category. nothing really impressive. so, i thank the mamasan for her time and stroll on out. feeling touristy, i decide to walk all the way back to livingstone’s. well, it had warmed up and the humidity had risen considerably. soon my shirt was soaking wet and i felt like i would never make it. but, i trudged onwards. strangely enough, as i'm walking back this thai gentlemen, who is impeccably dressed in a long sleeve shirt and tie starts walking with me and chatting me up. (he of course looks as cool as a cucumber.) turns out he's a police captain on his lunch break and wanted to see how i was doing because he saw my soaked shirt back. just being friendly and making sure i was ok. overall, a real nice and professional gesture by one of thailand’s finest.

well, i survive my trek back to livingstone’s; take a cool shower and crash. i wake up around six and once again consulting phuquer's itinerary i decided to mix it up and give poseidon a try. it takes about 45 minutes via walking, sky train, metro and walking again to get there from livingstone’s. i get there around 7pm. i go up to the 2nd floor and check out the fishbowl. about 40 girls on display. nice, very nice, but how nice i ask myself? wanting to check out the 'models' above i head up to the 3rd floor. after all, this was my vacation! so, about 15-20 girls up there. some real stunners but kinda hard to make eye contact with them. so, back on down to the 2nd floor. check out these girls again. i settle on 1 and i call one of the managers over to make my pick. as he strolls on over, my girl in chiffon green is taken! alas, what to do?!? well, dumb guy like i am i head up back to the 3rd floor. i settle on a rather cute one, and take her away. gentlemen, here i make a big mistake. i miss the signs that this one is gonna be an automaton. dumb, dumb newbie mistake. for 3900 baht i got the following with my model:

    a) a pretty fair soapy bath.
    b) a toothy bbbj of about 3-5 minutes.
    c) a quick switchover to condom and mechanical cowgirl.
    d) i try variations, am shot down, crash and burn.
    e) finally convince her (with much grumbling on her part) for a 2nd position and finish doggie style.

wham bam thank you sir! 1 hour after entering, i'm back on the street. pretty disappointed but chalking this one up to dumbness on my part.

get back to livingstone’s around 9:30pm.

settle back in, refresh a bit, and head downstairs. i have a great chat with giotto's # 2 and find out that giotto will be coming back into town the next day. by the way, giotto's # 2 is one great guy! he is one funny individual. if you get a chance to sit down and chat with him, you'll be doing yourself a favor. pure class!

anyway, trying to salvage something from the evening i decided to check out the stable of girls at livingstone's sports bar. there are about 15-20 girls working and i find one that i'm pretty impressed with right away. after chatting with her for awhile, i ask to barfine her. she politely refused and simply explained that she really doesn't go out with many guys. i say no problem and keep searching around. i chat with some english fellas at the bar for quite some time. at some point, they take off and i head back to my room to check something out. surprise, surprise, what do you know. the girl who i had asked out before to barfine, comes up to me and tells me she changed her mind, and would i still be interested in her? you bet! so, i give her my room number and about 10 minutes later she comes on up.

gentlemen, this young lady saved the day! she made everything right again, and put the entire experience of poseidon outta my mind. she was a pretty good gfe, if i must say so. well, by now it was coming up to 1am, and i was quite alright with a short-time experience and so we bid adieu. as a gentlemen i walk her out, for all the girls were taking off at about this time, and bid her adieu. total cost for this lovely angel from livingstone’s: 1 barfine 1500 baht + 2000 baht short time. it was a great way to finish out my day.

but wait, it wasn't finished quite yet. now, after all this, i'm absolutely famished! giottos # 2 is closing down the restaurant and bar for the evening and suggests getting a pizza. sounds great i say. no problem, and since he's heading home, and there's a pretty good late night pizzeria on the way, he'd be more that happy to give me a lift since they don't deliver. once again, what a classy guy. this is just great customer service. i mean what else could i really ask for. so, i go get a pizza and then take a taxi ride back. i finally get to bed at 3am. what a great day.

and that gentlemen closed out my first day in bangkok. i hope i haven't bored you to tears already. i'm going to write up one of these reports for every day here at livingstone’s and bangkok. stay tuned for tomorrows episode!

editor's note: i certainly hope that the author or somebody else will post a link to this report in the reports of distinction thread. please click here for more information.

    MongerMania,

Cannot be - we were sitting at the pool, under the tree, light on, until 5:30 am this morning.

    Pipeman,

BESTARD. You come here, and your balls are mine...for breakfast.

    No, the real news:

Busy day with up's and down's. But finally I went out with Mrs. Giotto for dinner, and to some bars. And she felt good with Mia Noi. She asked me to invite her for the New Year Party tomorrow.

    Yes, true.

In a few minutes we will see, whether all that is only a movie, and the knife is in the bed already...

More news tomorrow, with out without ...

    Giotto - 27/12 to 1/1

Arrived at Livingstone's on the 27th and am currently nursing my third horrendous hangover in 3. Must have just missed Giotto, his wife and Mia Noi this morning as I stumbled in at 4. All seemed quiet.

Livingstone's is living up to the billing. The place is great. A totally peaceful enclave right in the middle of Soi 33. I'm staying in one of the new "Deluxe Rooms" and I'm very impressed. I was a little nervous at first as the room looks directly on to the bustle of Soi 33 itself whereas many of the other rooms are hidden away behind the main Soi. However, no issues with noise as I drift off (read pass out) in to my nights dreams each evening and wake up around midday to tranquility.

The aircon is more that sufficient and the bathrooms are very well fitted out. The jacuzzi bath takes a little while to fill as the water is heated on demand by a little heater but this is a minor quibble.

Breakfast is great. Fried eggs, ham, cheese, country bread (French stick) and fruit with yoghurt and honey all served by the peaceful pool. Perfect to revive my battered liver and to allow steady contemplation of the previous days exploits and to allow planning of the coming shenanigans.

    Hey Giotto,

I am reminded of something a wise man said once. his name was Hommer Simpson.
