Hmm, I am from the Balkans, so a bomb or two don't scare me. I hate the fact that there is no Taxi or nice hotels and that I have to watch my self over potential terrorist stalkers. I would not stay more then 3-4 days anyway.

What cities would you recomend in Mindanao? I am of to Davao in August but was wondering if Gen San and CDO are safe enough, have the facilities for a comfortable trip and have mongering options. Plan B, C, D ie, bars.

As DS has sId, CDO is a very safe, secure city and it's a nice place tp visit for a few days. I suggest staying at the Mallberry. It's a decent, clean business hotel, very near the rows of restaurants and within a ten minute cab ride to most of the clubs. General Santos is also reasonably safe though there's not a hell of a lot to do there. Stay at the East Asia Hotel, which is maybe a two star but the best in town. It needs some maintenance but it's clean, safe and hospitable. There are a few bars within meters of the hotel so you won't even need a taxi. The food at the hotel is, to be kind, barely edible. But there is a decent steakhouse in gown, though I forget the name. Ge wrap Santos is only a couple of hours by road from Davao, and it's an easy trip.

Mc Don do you read my Cagayan de Oro City Board at all? It is there full of my experiences over the past 16 months on five (5) separate trips to CDO of 4-8 nights. As to Zamboanga City, I agree: it does have some unbelievably beautiful women with huge, lovely tits. My Melody from CDO had worked in a Club in Zamboanga CIty for 2 1/2 years from 2007. 2009. I ended up sending him off and hanging out at the home of filipinos, all of whom were Police or Military. They got me a tricycle back to the Lantake Hotel that night.

I spent the weekend in Zamboanga, though more by necessity than choice since I had to work. As it was also my birthday on Satirday, I took my lady with me so that we could make the set of the situation. I stayed, as always, at the Garden Orchid, about 300 meters from the airport. I was somewhat pleased to see that external security at the airport has been tightened somewhat, in that it's now not possible for people to congregate near the entrance, and the crowds of greeters, taxi drivers and touts are now forced to wait in an area 20-30 meters from the entrance. Nothing else has changed though.

I did what I typically do while there and remained largely in the hotel when I didn't have to leave for meetings. I did leave one night to go to dinner at Han something or other, a large Chinese eafood restaurant about a ten minute drive from the hotel. However, my company has an office in Zamboanga, and we have cars and drivers so I didn't have to take a trike. The car that I used is a lightly armored vehicle with bullet proof glass, so I felt reasonably safe.

I don't want to overstate the danger to foreigners there, as I don't think it's pronounced. There were a few foreigners-attending an international meeting-at the hotel and they surely didn't appear frightened to be there. There are no armed gangs roaming the streets and no imminent threats. Nonetheless, if you're going to go there it pays to be fairly vigilant at all times as Zamboanga is the only real city within reasonable proximity to Basilan and Sulu both of which are home to groups of Aby Sayyaf and others committed to violence. Aside from the hotel, you're likely to be the only foreigner wherever you go so you're going to be highly visible and easy prey.

So there I was, sitting and chatting amiably with a colleague about our day in Zamboanga. It was about 6:15 in the evening, and the lobby of the Garden Orchid Hotel had lots of US security guys strolling around, since the Ambassador was due in the next morning, though that visit had nothing to do with mine. Suddenly, there was a fairly loud explosion and a brief flash of light in the sky. I thought perhaps it was lightening striking an electrical transformer, or perhaps a loud clap of thunder, but the Filipinos in the lobby knew immediately exactly what it was, and several exclaimed "bomb at the airport," some 300 meters distant.

One of our security guys, and several other US Embassy security types were on the scene in minutes, and it only took a few minutes before I started getting text updates. While some of the messages-and even the follow-up stories- are somewhat confusing, there's no doubt that it was a bomb, and there's little doubt that the target was Governor Tan from Sulu, who was walking through the airport exit when the bomb was detonated. There's some debate however, about whether the perpetrator was actually a "suicide bomber," or a dupe who had been convinced to carry the package, thinking he would plant the bomb and then disappear. I heard a report today (whether true or not I don't know) , that the bomber was in fact a Christian with a severe antagonism toward the (Muslim) Governor. Whatever the case, the bomber blew his own head off with the explosion, and there may have been one other person killed. About 12 people were injured, but most were not hurt badly.

I had a plane our of Zamboanga at 6:30 this morning, and expected that the normally lax airport security would have been tightened. I was wrong. I think I could have pushed a wheelbarrow full of plastique inside and no one would have batted an eye. Our car was not inspected, just waved through as soon as the cop saw a white face. The "extra security" in the form of 6-7 cops, were sitting at a table, bullshitting and drinking coffee, and barely glanced at us. People were still permitted to mill around the airport entrance (the exit for passengers) and the so-called luggage x-ray / security process took 2 minutes, during which time security failed to find the two lighters (forbidden stuff) I had stuffed inside my bag. It was strictly business as usual.

There have been some unfortunate new security protocols put in place at the Davao airport. Now, cars and drivers are permitted to park directly outside of (and within 20 meters of) the airport entrance. When I exited this morning I noticed a crowd of 50-60 people waiting directly in front of the exit doors, any one of whom could have been carrying an unfortunate package. As recently as a month or so ago, no one was permitted access to that area except for deplaning passengers. I have no idea who decided to implement this idiotic scheme, but I hope it's revised again soon in the interest of safety.

I don't think Zamboanga is anymore dangerous for foreigners now than it was prior to the bombing, but it was already dangerous enough. I've said it before and perhaps it bears repeating-there's no reason for foreign tourists to be there. The city has no attractions that cannot be found in greater supply and in more safety elsewhere. It's got no first class hotels, no fine restaurants, no great clubs or bars or sightseeing attractions. What it does have (it is rumored) , are random Abu Sayyaff guys floating around taking pictures of the foreigners.

Remember, there are no taxis operating anywhere in the city, so you've got the choice of taking tricycles or jeepneys, so you're visible as soon as you set foot outside the door of your hotel. There's no expat presence to speak of, so if you're foolish enough to go out, there's an excellent chance you're going to be the only foreigner wherever you are.

It travels with me and is used only by me but still I need to be careful. As it is my teenage daughter asks to use it and I have to say a loud NO!

I found one site with no Sora Aoi movies but it had some hot Japanese DVDs so I said "what the hell" and purchased some. I then got one Sora Aoi DVD from a Site (it was her only DVD on the site) for $ 14. 99. I passed on the softcore DVDs featuring her on Amazon. I have two of these and it is time for the Serious Films. The last Japanese site you gave me had a lot of her films and I ordered five for $8 each to get the $ 40 minimum. I wonder how long they run as $ 8 is very cheap.
