First off, in an absolute sense there are much less mongers and ladies than five years ago (my visits were both in July so it's not an issue of seasonality), and the vibe is even more laid back. It's hard to see how some of these establishments survived or are surviving.

I did the rounds over the last 2 nights visiting about 7 bars along the main street, and the Day and Night and Nutty park complexes and the results were mediocre. For some context most mongers here are 10-15 years older than me and with enormous beer guts and ugly mottled wrinkled skin. A non-insignificant contingent of retired farangs live in cheap 450 baht boarding houses, drink all day and look like they are 3 weeks from death. I am in my late 40's, fit, farang, average / slightly above attractiveness. In Pattaya I'm "mid" but here I'm top of the heap. Despite this, at one bar I was almost completely ignored even being the only guy (mottled skin or not) in 300 meters. When I did find some younger attractive ladies they did not reciprocate interest over the initial drink with their body language and attitude and it was clear they just wanted drinks and when asked outright this was confirmed. One younger lady at a Nutty Park bar was very flirty and clearly interested in a barfine, but her looks were substandard (butterface) - and a slutty and sexy spinner at another bar was ready to go but I found her a bit old and the underbite was jarring-and although I nearly pulled the trigger something held me back. I had a couple nice "hostess" style conversations over 3-4 drinks with some young demure attractive farm fresh Isaan ladies who were happy to sit and flirt and allowed me some minimal touch- but again no interest in barfining. Most girls speak very little english compared to Pattaya and Bangkok so almost all communication is via translate apps.

I don't doubt the veracity of the FarmerBoy45 reports and believe it is possible to have a good time here as he and others have, but speaking frankly I think the bar needs to be set in a different place than where mine is- take that as you will. The older and less attractive ladies are the ones more ready to go but depending on your age you may feel more comfortable with them anyways. The younger girls, unless they are 5's or less are content to just earn the minimum sipping drinks. One girl told me she used to earn 6,000 baht monthly at a restaurant but now earns 10,000 baht just hanging out drinking and that's enough for her. Udon is very cheap and if they are still living close by with their family their expenses are minimal. Many girls have not even left Isaan and the few who have visited Pattaya found it not to their liking and returned quickly. I think if you are looking for that Unicorn Bargirl for relationship who legitimately does not go with guys- Udon might actually have a few.

For all my gripes, there are a few positive things to recommend, and for a certain type of guy Udon would be perfect. For one, all the hysteria and hand wringing regarding the Korean invasion into Pattaya and Bangkok would not apply here as almost all punters are of Farang extraction and most are older and retired. Also, for the monger who is 55+ and has tired of all the cacophony and drama of Pattaya, Udon Thani could be a really good choice. Even for me (late 40's) trying to compete in an arena like Soi 6, it can be nerve wracking and demoralizing. In the Central mall you see many retired farangs coupled up with more age appropriate (if still much younger) Thai ladies and I think this is where Udon could really work for a certain guy. If you are retired or on a very long vacation and not necessarily interested in wall to wall fucking action with a new hot girl every day but are more happy developing something slowly that approximates a real relationship- I think Udon Thani beats Pattaya and Bangkok hands down. You will have almost zero competition from all the hot young studs and deep pocketed Koreans, and the pace here is much more soothing and comforting. ThaiFriendly and Tinder would be the go to apps for this. If you want the FarmerBoy45 style fuckfest you will need to be happy with average and older ladies and throwing around above market amounts to motivate. You will also be the sole focus of attention as there is basically nobody else here.

I will probably not come back until I graduate into my mid 50's, but for many guys I think this scene could work great. Enjoy.

I'd be curious to know the different rates and if there are LD minimums. I do know most of those bars don't open till evening time. I would say your negotiated ST / LT price are probably pretty accurate. Although I did have one lady at one bar (forgot the name of the bar) quote 2,000 for ST. I only went to about three bars this time. Both of the others had LD minimums. I'd like to hear from anyone who knows places in UT with no or fewer LD minimums too.

I took a couple girls out from two different bars in Day and Night and there were no LD minimums that I know of. I do however like to play pool with the girls and buy a few drinks while there. Hell, probably every hotel in this town is guest friendly. I like the Pannari because it is directly across the street from my favorite bar, "Country Bar". I have been bringing a couple gals back to my room each night and drinking and having fun. Then I've been choosing one to take back to Banbua. Pannari is located just a few steps from Day and Night and the ATM bar.

Last night I spent time with a 23 year old from Country Bar. Bar fine 500. LT is probably only 2,000 Baht. But I gave her 3,000 to make her happy and motivated. It worked. She took a nap with me from 1 pm -6 pm yesterday, returned to the bar, then returned to be with me from 10 pm on. I'm secretly hoping more farang do not discover this place. Thanks for these reports! Sounds like a fun place there, better than BKK or even Pattaya (never been to Pattaya). Been here the past few days. Here are my initial observations and experiences:

Day 1:

Went to the Country Bar to meet up with a lady from last time. She is crazy, but knows how to move it in bed.

Actually, the best I ever remember having. She is very skilled. She is maybe 25 years old.

I like Country Bar for many reasons. It opens up early. Usually by 11 am. There are always at least three attractive ladies.

There by 11 am (attractive to me anyway). There has never been a drink minimum before barfine in my experiences there.

You can purchase one lady drink and take the gal away, right away, anytime. Last night there were maybe 8 ladies there by 10 pm.

Only three that were doable for me. Maybe four. Owner is such a sweet lady.
