Bros,
I will be in Singapore for 3 nights this month. I don't have much time so want to be close to the action. I am looking for a pretty good hotel that is near the action which I assume would be Orchard Towers. Which hotel would you recommend in the $150-200 range that is a good hotel that is walking distance to OT or other pick up spots?
Cheers,
Zero

I have stayed here a few times over the last 10 years, across the street from OT.
The location is great and at less than 230S$ a night it is cheaper than many hotels noted here. Of course if your work is paying for a better place, its a B class hotel with a great location. There are cheaper options, but they are blocks or even km away.
Possibly a bit sweeter is a SilkAir or Singapore proof of reservation affords a 10% discount.
Thing for me with Singapore is in a humidity environment, even two blocks is a long way to walk with luggage. I am a bit of a lazy bastard, and at times a cheap lazy bastard :P
I have been able to bring two different guests in a night without issue.

No problems leaving your stuff in the room. Singapore's a very safe country in that regard. As far as specific hotels...I don't know that I could recommend one as I live here and don't normally us them...BUT having said that, the short time rooms I've used in Geylang are not huge but should suffice for a few bags and a couple of cuties. However, there's really nothing to do in Geylang except shag. I don't know of a guesthouse here...honestly I've never come across one in all the years I've lived here. When are you coming to SG and how long will you stay?

Posts: 15Can Anyone Recommend a Guesthouse?
Hi there,
This will be my first visit to SG and I feel that I am ready to do some damage once there having read the threads with all the juicy details. However, I will be transiting for a few days while on my way to Australia for a year of study and will have quite a bit of stuff with me. It sounds like the hotel rooms in the heart of the action in Geylang are too small to accomodate much more than a suitcase and a juicy young nubile at the same time. I expect to have several bags and such, so it sounds like things would be quite cramped there. I wonder how safe it would be to leave a lot of stuff there during the day while travelling about the city? My friend stayed in SG for about one week several years ago and said he stayed at a guesthouse downtown somewhere that was situated above a restaurant. Does this ring a bell with anyone here? Perhaps you long time residents might know which one he is referring to? Or can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive guesthouse? I was told to stay away from the backpacker ones and the ones in little India. I have done some online searches, but it is always good to rely on and consult with the local expertise. Can anyone help a brother out? Wherever I stay, I plan to indulge in the local fauna on offer.
Thanks a million in advance everyone.

Just a reminder - while the Fairmont's GF, the "enter from the 2nd/3rd floor via the Swisshotel or Raffles City" trick to avoid any variety of the walk of shame wont work from 11PM-5AM, as they turn off elevator service to those floors.

Posts: 280Park Hotel is just about ok,,don't expect 5 star comforts. Komals is ok if you are vegetarian, try muthu Curry House if you are ok with meat. Plenty of other places too.

The best hotel near little India is the Park Royal (formerly New Park Centra). For food, the best quality food is at Komala's on the corner opp. Mustafa's.
Have a great time.
