Posts: 12No this is not a "is this a GF hotel" question.
Anyway, am attending a something near the Paragon area so am looking at staying at either the York or the Elizabeth. According to google maps, this would be walking distance around (450 m) to and from Brix as well. Any comments on either, for those who know about these hotels? Will I require a cab ride if I'm bringing a "friend" home from Brix? I understand it is a bit uphill going to these hotels.

Think I just found myself a new forward operation base in Singapore with this hotel. Affordable for Singapore standards, although nothing close to what you will get in for example Bangkok at this rate, but still. Nobody asking questions or even looking at you when you enter the lobby. The walk of shame is about 25 meters to the elevator, but lobby was completely empty at the time I entered (1 AM). I don't know if they are even available, but no need to book smoking room as they all have a balcony to have a smoke in between of your shots. Location less than 1 minute from OT, maybe 5 min taxi drive to Brix. However, if you want to spend your money in Brix you probably won't mind spending a bit more on your hotel as well and have different standards. To me, this is a 3,5 star and living up to that. Good place.

Less than half a year ago I took a taxi from the airport straight to the Orchard Hotel and gave my passport at the desk, where they said there was no booking on my name. When I gave them a copy of the booking it turned out I had accidentally booked the Orchid Hotel instead of Orchard. It was located about ten minutes by taxi from OT. Upon arrival I was delighted to find out it was not bad at all, although I booked an upgrade as it was reasonably priced. From the entrance to the elevator is a short walk of 10 meters, even better is the side entrance where you will enter straight at the elevator, as if it was meant to be. I never bothered the side entrance though, bell boy just smiled each time I brought another girl and even borrowed his lighter when we went down for a smoke! If you don't mind the taxi it can be a reasonably priced but decent hotel. Have fun, but bring your wallet anyway, like the girls said nothing is cheap in Singapore.

Posts: 975Not much mongering can you get done with a 150 budget. An option is to go to a massage parlour and hope for some extras.

I used to believe there were no budget hotels in Singapore. They'd have you believe that. But walk around Geylang and I've found no shortage of cheaper places that don't advertise. This is especially good if you can travel with just a backpack (or leave your luggage at the airport lockers which is easy to do).

Posts: 975Getting to a hotel is very easy in Singapore by walking, metro or taxi. So you don't necessarily be close to orchard towers. You could put your price range on a hotel website and check for locations that suit you.
