In my experience it was girl-friendly, yet another poster told me it was not.

The Novotel on Soi 33 definitely asks for joiner fees.

One of the best hotels sites for Thailand..

    Try this out..

    http://www.pattayacity.com/pattaya/hotels.html

It looks like this is only for Pattaya, but it is not. It does not say if the hotel are girl friendly or not, but it gives you a wide range og hotels, with the real prize. Many sites add on a lot just for the web service..

    Have a nice stay..

    Royal Asia Lodge

Just got back from BKK after some client entertainment session at Hatyai and based on members notes, I tried Royal Asia. For the price booked on internet, could have a better setting hotel like Emerald or Silom Serene but the good thing is its in Sukhumvit and they couldnt be bothered with who I bring in. Its at the far end of the soi but there is free tuk tuk service. The room is dead big that could fit a family, its an apartment with kitchen etc. I stayed at the other block i.e. not the same block as the reception. Action wise, nothing much to say, went there for work but spent time with my usual girl.

    Hotel List

    Coolboy,

Nice list, but surely you could have unearthed more than just ten hotels if you trawled through six months of hotel reports.

Was nice to see you quoted my words of wisdom on the Peninsula.

People keep threatening to compile a list of hotels to save others having to RTFF, good to see that someone has finally made the effort.

    The Promenade

i recommend the promenade instead of royal asia. rooms there are a bit better and room rate is only 800 walk in cash. they will ask for 1000, but just tell them that you have been there before for 800. also soi 8 and not so far from suk, quite close to [CodeWord900]
just returned from a short trip to bkk and wanted to update the traveler's report on the promenade. while i can't compare it to the royal asia, the rooms were quite ok, nothing special, but not bad in any way. the rates have risen. both on the internet and on a sign out front they quote 1200 bt per night. since it is high season, i phoned in a reservation and told the clerk that i usually paid 800. she said that the owner had changed the carpet and wallpaper and then subsequently raised the rates. i finally got her to agree to 1000 bt per night. when i checked out i told her to tell her boss that the new carpet was nice, but not worth the rise in price.

i agree with tt that the promenade is pleasantly close to [CodeWord901]'s. another big plus when it is hot in bkk is that it is close to the escalator for the nana bts. it really helps when dragging luggage.

another big plus is that it is extremely girl friendly. they have a sign on the office door that reads (or close to it): "if you do not want to present your companion's id card for us to copy then we cannot help you if there is trouble later." when i brought girls back, they didn't even ask for the id.

all in all, not a bad experience, i'll probably use it again when i am strapped for cash.

    Coma Boy

in Europe you most likely pay not only for the room but also for the occupancy. So two persons in a room are more expensive than just one. But almost everywhere in Asia you solely pay for the room. Many Thais share their rooms with friends- up to 5 or 6 persons per room - without additional fees. So it's only a scam to charge farangs. Shame on them.

    List which i could make

    Hi all

This is my second Short visit to Bangkok

I will be there on 23rd Dec; I went through the last 6 months reports and collected some details regarding hotel and other information.

Here I short listed hotels which is less than or equal to 1000 B, if guys have any further information please PM me, I will include in the list.

I will be staying in Pattaya for 3 nights and Bangkok 2 nights only, I didn’t book the hotels yet, I am planning to do so at the earliest.

I will attach the Pattaya report in Pattaya hotels area

FWIW, Sanukmaps has always had the Ambassador listed as girl unfriendly.

    Ambassador

    What assholes!

Sandog, one final thing you could try is ask them to place this fee on your bill, just in case it is a night-staff scan.

    Thanks for warning us.

By the way, my Thai friends who travel around the country a lot for business, and often bring girls to their rooms, have never heard of joiner fees. They told me that you're paying for the room, not who you bring back, just as in any other country. Imagine if a hotel in the US or Europe asked you to pay extra as you brought in a guest!

Joiner fees are a scam to get more money from Farang. I'd advise anyone who can't talk their way out of one to have it placed on their bill and have a polite conversation with the manager the next day.

I once checked out of a hotel in the middle of the night in protest of a joiner-fee. The next day when I returned to complain the manager was extremely apologetic.

    Amabassador Hotel

    Hi guys,

RED ALERT!!!!! The Amabassador hotel is not a girl friendly place. I book a double room in tower wing and last night I took a honey back, they wanted me to pay 650 baht for join fee. I told them that I have a double room, so why I have to pay?? They said becuase the girl name is not on the hotel registry so I have to pay. The bottom line is this how they treat their loyal customer then I will take my business somewhere else. Just thought that your guys want to know.

    Take care,

    SanDog
