Aha, okay, that makes sense now.
Shame though, it would be nice to get that price at Mandarin Oriental.
Anyway, I highly recommend Mandarin Oriental if you have the money, very girl-friendly and very very good.
Have never heard of the other Mandarin, am suprised that The Mandarin Hotel group aren't mad at them. Then again brand names aren't too well protected over here. Check out all the Indian tailors called Armani and all the fake Hard Rocks.

If you are staying at MS, you need to consider location within the hotel. I was in the 2nd floor which was nice b/c no need for elevator. However, the cell phone reception was crap or non-existent. Had to go out on the Suk for a phone call!

RTFF, RTFF, RTFF you FFs.
Yes, Mandarin is great, nice hotel, not many mongers, great service etc.
Majestic Grande- many owners, including those of Majestic Suites and others, www.majesticgrande.com -will discount if you ask nicely.
RTFF!

The ownership of these two hotels is the same - When I was at the Majestic Suites last month, they were promoting the Majestic Grande. Rates for the Majestic Grande start at 2900 Baht including tax, service, and breakfast - Which puts it somewhat below the JW Marriott and Landmark, but more than double those of the Majestic Suites.

I stayed at the Ambassador hotel one night , king size bed for double ( 35 usd )
The guard want to charge me 500 b for 2nd girl to my room, saying "You only have 1 girl friend for your room.
I said "Leave me alone" then close my door. That's over
Massage girl 700 b for oil massage , it's good for massage only.
Pity I accept her quote +1000 b for 2 times shoot. The service was no good.

Am sitting in Coffee World on sukhumvit writing this...just got into BKK after 36 hour worth of flights. Some impressions of the Majestic Grand. Very nice staff, my room is extremely nice, I've got the next level up from the World's, so its more expensive too. Bathroom OK with tub. The pool is mini and only gets sun from 10 until 1!!!! So far all you sunbathers...better off at the Landmark. A funny thing happened; all of the staff are new and one of the girls on the gym floor was showing me around. I wasn't that interested in the sauna and steam room (more interested in massage possibilities...but no massage for the next two weeks..staff supposidely in training) but she insisted on showing me. Walks in and there are two nude guys trying to cover themselves up with small towels. You all know how "good" thai girls are...she almost fainted, turned all sorts of colors while making a fast retreat with me. Pleaded with me not to mention it to anyone (so please NO REMARKS if anyone stays there). Her supervisor showed up and I said "I have to tell you something about this girl" she turned white thinking I was going to turn her in. But I said that she was an excellent employee and had helped me out a lot. Interesting to note that the hotel is almost full. No more rooms of the same type as mine available. But three floors still aren't finished.
