For a good full service hotel under $100/nt, I recommend either the Dynasty Grande or the Majestic Grande. IMHO, for 2300 Baht, the Dynasty Grande is tough to top for value in a place with a restaurant, pool, and fitness club.
Places like the JW Marriott, Sheraton Grande, Landmark, Westin Grande, and Plaza Athenee are all getting over $150/nt now.

Few weeks back, there used to be lots of discussion about the Town Lodge Hotel located at Soi 18. All of a sudden this hotel seems to be completely out of discussion. Has something changed? Are they no-longer girl friendly?
Can any co-monger who has stayed there recently share his experience? Thanks in advance

Posts: 1584NOTHING close to the airport except for the airport hotel - and it's PAENG MAK (very expensive). Closest might be 10-12 km away or so (and I don't know where for sure, so I won't try to say)

Posts: 704Short Time Hotel Near The Airport
I will be transiting through Bangkok, and meeting up with the current gf. I have four or five hours, after a very long flight.
I have searched the site for short term hotels near the airport so that I can get some kip, and we can reestablish relationship.
Can anyone help?

Is soi 19 were country road is on corner?
Usually stay at grand presidents on a package but nothing yet on website.
Any other ideas for 30 day stay? And thanks for the legwork on this property!!

Any business can present a set of rules to it's customers and require a signature for the transaction, but the business is relying on the intimidation factor with many rules (which often contradict business and consumer law). A minor case in point is a materials supplier my company uses. It has a disclaimer in it's delivery note (which has to be signed by the recipient btw) which states that said materials should be thoroughly inspected for imperfections upon receipt, and once the materials have been taken out of their wrappings and used they become the sole responsibility and ownership of the recipient, and there are no comebacks or returns. I showed the delivery 'contract' to a lawyer friend. He burst out laughing: "Haven't this company heard about consumer law?".
If a hotel incudes in it's small print a rule that male customers have to shag the owner's grandmother (totally absurd, I know, but so are several items of small print in their own ways on a check-in document) is this legally binding?
But, getting back to serious, nobody has to argue about consumer law with the night manager. If you are confronted by a hotel worker with a joiner fee request, NEVER pay cash. Ask (under theatrically obvious duress) for it to be added to your room bill. On check-out, ask for the manager and ask him to remove the offending item from your bill. In the event of a stand-off, pay by credit card then get your credit card company to reclaim the joiner fee charges. But it usually won't come to this because most hotels that charge joiner fees aren't really punter-unfriendly (if they were, they would exclude unregistered evening and overnight guests like the genuinely punter-unfriendly hotels do). They are simply after more coin from what they perceive as easy targets. And the more easy we punters make ourselves as targets, the more hotels (excluding the very small number of hotels that target punters as their customer base) will introduce joiner fees.
