Brazil is definately still the same. I was there last year, and have been going since 99.

When I first started going to Brazil it was definitely cheaper than DR. With higher quality P4P options. Now the tables are turned and Brazil is almost 3 times more expensive than it was(including the high airfare).

Also, many of the Rio girls in particular have been overexposed to Americans and are developing diva complexes due to all the hype and pornographers going to Rio to do films etc.

For myself, the DR is good enough. The hassle of high airfares, high visa cost, and bad exchange rate in Brazil is enough to make me severely limit my travel there. Now I only to Brazil about once every 2 years with many trips to the Dr in between.

I was in Rio de Janeiro ten years ago. Maybe it is different now. 7 hour flight from New York. I stayed in an apartment in Copacabana, with my Brazilian girlfriend. I can remember seeing homeless kids sleeping on the sidewalks. I went out at night with wealthier Brazilians and all the guys were carrying 9 millimeter pistols. No stopping at the traffic lights late at night. Heard stories about the "sleeping beauty pills" put into drinks. More recently read that some people there wear Osama Bin Laden t-shirts, like he his some kind of hero. Look at the documentary after the movie "City of God", gangs in the favellas having machine gun battles with the police. I grew up in the Bronx and that never happened here. Maybe Rio is better now. But for me for a piece of pussy, I would rather go to the Dominican Republic. I definitely want to try Colombia, but not sure if I will return to Brazil.

M. Til 2-4 a. M. In the bar, the disco, our rooms etc. We even went to a local karaoke bar a couple nights with 4 of the girls. Take the time to stroll around POP. Head over to the malecon. Stop in a few open air bars, have some drinks, smile at the girls passing by and you will be amazed at what opportunities present themselves. Once you realize what you can do away from BB, you wont feel the need to go back.

Nice to know that some of you guys think you know how every dominican woman thinks. I have known many normal Dominican women. Some prefer Dominican men, others prefer gringos. Still others don't care what the guy looks like. My opinion is, it is kinda dumb, to say a certain nationality of people all think the same.

An educated girl that has a job in a bank or goes to school, and lives at home with their middle or upper class family is generally off limits for a tourist on vacation and i am not even talking about the rich girls.
The 40/50/60 year old gringo tourist that isn`t needed to provide support for the middle or upper class family won`t be a welcome dinner guest for their teenage daughters.
