    Café Iguana

If anyone is looking for some good Mexican food while in Singapore, I can recommend Café Iguana on Merchant Road. The food was great and they have a great selection of tequilas as well. You can check out their menu on their website http://www.cafeiguana.com

I wasn't as successful in finding Latin pussy while in Singapore, but one out of two isn't bad!

    Food Report #1

    Trendy and Hip:

Top floor of the boutique Scarlet Hotel is a very nice place called "Breeze". Great decor, moderate prices. The hotell decor itself is a sight to behold but the restaurant's ambience is great for a serious date.

    Fast and Furious:

The 'Hawker Centres' of Singapore are a must for any tourist. However, there seem to be good ones and bad ones. "Newton Circus" is centrally located but the quality is not good - don't be tempted by the delicious looking menus, you can have far better examples of the same dishes at other centres such as the East Coast Food Centre out in Bedok towards the airport.

Geylang is famous for food as well as fast sex and on all the corners of Geylang road there seem to be decent food houses there. Similar fare to hawker centres.

    Near OT:

Esmirada (corner Orange road and Orchard road) offers great Spanish and has oonstreet dining. A great place to observe all the commerce in the OT area. The place beside Esmirada is not too bad either (same company I think). Some very high-class action seen going in and out of buildings around there.

    Food Courts:

Generally pretty good value. Even the one below OT can't be faulted too much, for what you get. Wisma Atria's top floor food court is a step upwards and is generally excellent for Thai and Chinese food (haven't tried the other ones yet). Far East Plaza's basement food court is very Philipino-oriented so watch what goes into even the most western looking dish. If you pick up a 'Flipper' she will appreciate a breif food stop there, either morning or night and chances are she will run into her friends.

    Higher End

Raffles Grill is getting good reviews but you do pay for the location.

    East Coast/Parkway Parade

Near the Paramount Shopping Mall (a mini Duxton Rd for those people on the East Coast). Good Thai and Chinese dumplings restaurant in the shop-house block, including a Balinese place which stands out strongly (sorry can't recall the name). Great steaks there.

    Others

Of course the river area (Clarke Quay, Boat QUay) boasts great food and drinking establishments. The Thai restaurant about 5 shops into Boat Quay from the west side is superb quality. Just further down the street towards Fullerton hotel is the OUB tower which has a high class Chinese restaurant at the top - superb views and amazing tea service where the guy comes out and pours the tea with an enormous long-necked kettle into your cup from a distance.

Across the bridge from Fullerton and towards the old museum buildings is the famous Indochine which despite the odd bad review is generally very good and usually has live music and a great outdoor scene.

Fullerton Bar on a Friday or Saturday used to be a good place for high-class action and their custom cocktails are very nice. Good atmosphere there usually but of course you will pay much money for anything found in a hotel bar.

    More to come.

    Straits Kitchen @ Hyatt

Straits Kitchen is a buffet style restaurant serving local fares ( Malay, Indo and Indian). Pretty decent food for around SGD 50.
