For all of you who live here in Colombia you must have seen the spech President Uribe gave last night. He was pissed about the car bomb at the Naval base last week and made no mistake in his delivery of a declaration of war against the different left wing factions. He called 3 or so by name and will extradict all terrorist to the USA , Hmm, as if we dont have enough of our own to deal with. The ''Chisme'' here is it will be a tough few years for the country and he may pay the price for his declaration of war with his life. I advise all to stay out of high profile places when in the capital, and stay away from the regions of concern that have terrorist / FARC etc, activity, so do youre homework before you come here and read the threads for current info. Colombia is in transition and you need to be aware of potential problems that may arise.

Some initial questions:

The only flights I am finding right now get into MDE at 9 at night which means I will probably get out of airport after 10:00PM. Is the route to/from airport a big concern at this time of night? I am going to try to use one of the drivers listed in these threads but from the threads and also my experiences in Latin American countries, reliability can be a definite problem and if the driver doesn't show ...should I be concerned about grabbing an unfamiliar cab at that time of the evening?

Another question regarding flying MDE to CTG. Any recommendations on best airline and prices on this route? I would like to leave as early as possible on a Monday or Tuesday morning and return anytime on a Thursday or a Friday.

For a reliable airport pick up just arrange one though the Mansion. Lina will be sure there is a driver with your name on a paper when you walk out of the airport doors. Have a cute chica holding that paper if you want a a small wxtra charge. Go at it on your own and there is no gaurantee.

Avianca is the only airline flying from Medellin to Cartagena. Prices can be as low as $226 usd with the earliest (direct) flight leaving MDE is at 6:08am getting in to CTG at 7:30am. This fare can be had by either going to their website www.avianca.com or when your at the Mansion/Castillo have either Lina (at La mansion) or Lucha (at El Castillo) make the flight arangemnt for you. You can also call Avianca and make the reservation but it will cost $50 usd more to do so.


BTW- Are you a Chicagoan? If so be sure to visit Chicago's in the PArque Lleras area in Medellin. Great place to start off a mongers evening. I was fortunate to be around when the guys were looking for a name for the place.

During my 2 week visit to Colombia I visited 3 cities and every reasonable source of P4P I could find. Overall, Colombia was a disappointment. Service with out passion and a near psychotic obcession with avoiding physical contact whenever possible was the usual fare, although I did encounter several notable exceptions. But,for the most part, it was not worth the price.

The girls in Medellin were the most beautiful and have a unique combination of physical characteristics found only on occasion elsewhere. But there is something wrong and the working girls appear to be moving in a dangerous direction - less and less contact with skin.

In fact, I believe the nations sex workers will make the final step into their street version of the digital age as soon as they discover Glad Wrap, which they will certainly rename Gringo Wrap. Through its careful application they will only then be prepared to provide each client with - Virtual Sex - and have no contact at all.

What next?

For passion and hot sex, nothing beats Brazil in the Americas.

I believe the Novelty Suites Hotel is located on the backside of the Oviedo Mall. Seems like a high end place so be prepared to pay Dann Carlton like prices.

Thank you Almotu for your opinion. Probably I will change my plans and instead of Novelty I will go with Hotel10 since another member of the forum had good experience with them. Does anyone know if this hotel is near to the SW action? Do they charge extra if I bring a chica in my room?

I am starting to formulate my gameplan and dates for my first trip to MDE and have a few questions. Right now my plan (it'll probably change) is to fly from Chicago to Medellin for about a 7 - 10 trip at end of November or early to mid December. I would like to hang out for a few days over a weekend, then go to Cartagena for 3-5 days during the middle of the week, and then fly back to MDE for another couple of days and then back to Chicago. I basically need to enter and exit Colombia via Medellin because I will be using frequent flyer miles and AA doesn't go to CTG. I will probably stay at the Mansion first few days and then Castillo the last couple days. I would like to sample VIP at some point as well, but not sure if it will be doable on this trip or not.

A fool is born every minute (and it seems they are all headed to Medellin these days!). In SA as in Asia as in Africa etc., you must BARGAIN!

If you do not research the TRUE price (or at least ask somebody!) , and you agree to the taxistas initial asking price, I find nothing "dishonest" about him asking for a premium at all. If a pro asks you 100K, but does others for 50K without volunterring that info, is she "dishonest"? This is a rhetorical question.
"Dishonest" is agreeing to one price, then trying to renegotiate or denying the agreement later(a favorite tactic in the Philippines). Charging top dollar to clueless fools is just "capitalism" IMHO.


Note to Cubanut: While Hector does not monger himself, he has taken me mongering and introduced me to chicas many times. He is hardly shy about it. Fernando (in Cali) does not monger either (he is quite devoted to his esposa).

In fact, Alvero drove me and my friend from the airport. He charged us twice and since it was our frist time in Medellin, we did not know it until we spoke with greg. He seemed like a great guy until he double charged us. I am not saying he is a bad guy. But I believe that is one reason he does not work for the Mansion anymore.

So I agree with Tom Tom. However, he did seem like a really nice guy.

I will concur that Hector is trustworthy AND reliable. I have come across many trustworthy drivers but they are not always reliable. He also speaks passable English.

I have used Hector MANY times but not for mongering. He is a family guy and loves his wife. I use Fernando for that. Fernando however does not speak English and that is his only downside. I also think he is trustworthy and reliable.

I just got off the phone to Alvaro and he said he knew of a two bedroom with a balcony. One large bedroom with another small one that can be used for an office or company. for 800,000cop equals 354.23 US Dollar. The apartment is in Pabaldo 2 blocks from Parque Llares.

I have a taxista de confianza in each Colombia city (though I lost contact with my guy in Bogota as i have not been there in several years). I think this is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT as I like to have a guy who I can trust to watch my valuables and take care of my chicas. I never worry about the fare as they accept what I give them graciously (and I reward loyalty).

The Novelty charges $25 bucks per night, nice place walking distance to the Mall and food. Clean and great view, I would return to this place.

Thespy thank you for the information! Do you mean that if I bring a chica for TLN they will charge me additionaly $25? Do you know if it is located near to the SW action?

Senor Amable do you know of Hotel10 has the same policy for guests? How much they charge additionaly for TLN? Is it near to the action?
