I was not the only person posting about taxes and investments. In fact, I did not even start that conversation.

You are right though, I should not be giving out free advise on this forum. I am just wasting my time. It really is strange though how angry you get when others are talking about making money in Colombia. You seem to go to great lengths to scare away anyone who wants to live here. I am sure most members on this forum can see your real motives.

1. You seem to have an excessive focus on Casa Medellin, which, along with your long history of abusive posts, gives me ample reason to suspect you as a potential serial antagonist and a contributing factor to the animosity on this forum.

I understand your relationship with Casa Medellin and I think by only allowing him to post in his "one" thread it solves all of your problems.... assuming he does not use his "one" thread to attack or make snide comments about other members. I think it is great that you are limiting him to his "one" thread and I think you are also being prudent by moderating his "one" thread to make sure he does not make degrading, criticizing, and/or humorous comments in his "one" forum that are meant to attack another member.

Again, thanks for posting your position. It's been a great forum over the years. I'm confident that you aren't going to let 1 member bring it down, friend or not.

The fact is I have lived longer in Colombia than anyone in this forum. I have also owned companies and been involved in a lot of real estate transactions. Most of my advice about real estate and banking is based no the fact that I have more experience with these things than most people in the forum. I am sure some people have benefited from my advice since others have been posting things that are completely inaccurate and could have cost members some money if they listened to these guys.

But I do agree with Winner in the fact that most of the problems have resulted from Casa Medellin joining the posts and becoming the new expert n everything Colombian.

I have been contributing information to the Colombia forum for over a year. To the Panama forum for over 2 years. I try to be objective and informative in my reporting and avoid criticism of other members. I have gotten to know many members here personally and found most to be good guys. I have helped and received help from many others over that time. These are guys I look forward to meeting in the future.

I read a number of other forums from around the world where I hope to visit in the future. I strongly disagree with Jacksons comment that the Colombian forum is more troublesome than any others. The Thai boards makes this board look tame.

But I do agree with Winner in the fact that most of the problems have resulted from Casa Medellin joining the posts and becoming the new expert n everything Colombian. If he wants to be a forum advertiser that is fine. Confine him to his thread, let him advertise and post information. Then we move. Please don't tell me to use the ignore function, because he is not bothering me. What is bothering me is all the waste of time of discussions of non mongering issues due to his childish comments. I think he makes some good comments on the market in Medellin, but I do not see how he survives as a business owner. He must be a BMG because he does not need to worry about filling his property. He continues to act like a child and not a businessman.

So Jackson, since you are moderating every post, please read this and Winners and consider what you are doing. It is easier to quarantine the problem than all those infected by it.

Was it a rhetorical question, your enquiry about why we have so many arguments in the Colombia forum? I'm going to go ahead and answer anyway. If you think this post is counter-productive, then by all means just delete it without letting it post to the forum.

I think you got logical results from the moderation policy you had in place. In the past, personal attacks appeared on the forum and you let them stand without any action. Someone like Scooby was frequently abusive to other members or ignored the rules, but was allowed to post without challenge.

According to "broken windows" theory, you could establish limits early and would be preventing more work later on down the line.

"Consider a building with a few broken windows. If the windows are not repaired, the tendency is for vandals to break a few more windows. Eventually, they may even break into the building, and if it's unoccupied, perhaps become squatters or light fires inside.

Or consider a sidewalk. Some litter accumulates. Soon, more litter accumulates. Eventually, people even start leaving bags of trash from take-out restaurants there or breaking into cars."

A successful strategy for preventing vandalism, say the book's authors, is to fix the problems when they are small. Repair the broken windows within a short time, say, a day or a week, and the tendency is that vandals are much less likely to break more windows or do further damage. Clean up the sidewalk every day, and the tendency is for litter not to accumulate (or for the rate of littering to be much less). Problems do not escalate and thus respectable residents do not flee a neighborhood.

If there are posting rules and guidelines but they're ignored, it's only natural for people to push the envelope so as to establish what the limits actually are.

The other issue is you have posters who are effectively above the law. They can break any rule in the book, and you stamp out all criticism or censure of them because they're your personal friends. Maybe they could have a special member designation next to their username ("Elite Member", "Invited Member", "Friend of Jackson" or something). That way all posters could better understand the moderation policy.

To date, it has not been very transparent. Members don't know who has protected status until you come out and declare it.

Jackson, thank you for the forum. It continues to be the best resource on the internet for mongering. I didn't even think people were getting out of hand... but if you are getting too many complaints, then for sure it makes sense to go zero tolerance until it calms down.

You are correct, and that's why I have implemented this Full Moderation policy, so I can delete EVERY abusive, challenging and antagonistic post before it is displayed in the forum.

Hey, don't hold back. If you have some magic crystal ball that I can use to identify the serial antagonists, then please share it with me.

In the mean time, just remember that for every email complaint I get advising me about a potential serial antagonist, I get the same number of complaints from the alleged serial antagonist advising me that "the other guy" is the problem. Do you see my problem?

No member is "above the law". However, as stated in my response to another post herein, I know some forum members personally, enough so that I have great difficulty believing that they would initiate a flame war, and therefor I can make a reasonable deduction that the source of the "flame war of the day" lies elsewhere.

Because I know Casa Medellin and Aussie Greg personally, I can make editing decisions accordingly. In other words, I'm usually gong to take their side in a flame war, so don't flame them! What I won't do is listen to any BS claiming that they started it.

Not withstanding the above, Casa Medellin and Aussie Greg are still required to conform to all of the Forum's Posting Guidelines. If in fact either Casa Medellin and Aussie Greg ever posted an antagonistic report that was totally without provocation, I will delete said post.

To be honest with you not a single person started off flaming this guy, all we simply did was DISAGREE with him about what he considers a good deal to pay for a room in Medellin.

Hell you have an Apartment in Argentina not a Room an Apartment that you rent for $95 a night I think, so would you yourself consider $80 per night for a ROOM a bargain in Medellin Colombia?

I thought the main focus of this Forum was to inform other guys how to get more bang for your buck! Be it Chicas, Rooms, Apartments, places to eat etc!

This guys states that $80 per night and up is a deal in Colombia, oh hell no I am not buying his brand!

Then to add insult to injurythis guy is all over the Colombian thread posting his Advertisements and press releases, 99% of the members did not sign up that! Then when a few guys have the huveos to tell the rest of the Forum that Colombia is not the States and $80 per night for a Room is not a deal, then this guy has the nerve to Flame the whistle blowers. My suggestion is.

1) You allow Casa Medellin to post in his forum and only his forum.

2) You do not put up with him criticizing ANYONE.

3) If someone has something to say about him or his property in his thread or another thread he can attempt to rectify the situation. However, not by calling the individual a liar or flaming the questioning individual. This forum does not need pompous attitudes.

He does not understand this concept which he himself has admitted in his posts. He feels he has the right to criticize those that criticize him or his business. I disagree with that 100%. I further think that full disclosure of his personal info, who has majority ownership of the Casa Medellin, Cartagena Penthouse, etc should be given. Otherwise he has no business on this site. He does not feel it is necessary for people to know his name, tax situation, ownership, or anything about him because we are all complete strangers. Yet he feels like he's qualified to give advice on tax shelters, offshore account setups, how to buy property in Colombia, etc. What am I missing. What the heck is the guy doing here? My suggestion is you "Stop" deleting other members posts and start paying attention to what they have to say and you start deleting Casa Medellin's posts. All of them. Not 1 post of his has anything to do with Mongering.

3. Effective with the Full Moderation, no Forum Member is going to criticize any other Forum Member to the extent that said criticism in any way appears abusive, challenging or antagonist. However, this is a forum, and thus politely worded observations, questions and comments will be permitted.

4. Yes, I know Casa Medellin and Aussie Greg personally. I've spent time with these guys, they've stayed in my house, and I've had multiple extended conversations with each of them. This means that I know their demeanor's, and thus when I read their exchanges with other forum members, I have the advantage of knowing that they are the ones being unfairly attacked, and that their responses are justifiable.

I am rarely in the position to know one or both of the combatants in a forum flame war, so I generally must attempt to make editing decisions based solely on the postings, which in and of themselves rarely provide definitive insight and which I rarely have time to read and fully evaluate.

However, because I know Medellin and Aussie Greg personally, I can make editing decisions accordingly. In other words, I'm usually gong to take their side in a flame war, so get over it.

I just talked to Juan and he said you are absolutely lying about what happened. I forwarded him this thread so hopefully he will respond.

The jacuzzi was broken and we could not fix it in time since the part was not available:

1) You were offered a full refund by Juan.

2) I gave you a 10% discount that you accepted instead without saying anything.
3) I offered you a discount if you returned.

4) Juan never passed the buck to me as your claim since after all he is the property manager and therefore the guy who is responsibleto fix things.

5) I personally apologized to you, and you never said one word to me at the time.

Now, a long time later, you post on the here complaining about everything?

Anyway, like I said, Juan will respond to this personally. Juan says your complaint is bullshit and you never expresses unsatisfaction with the penthouse at any time.

Because Juan is a nice guy, and he made it clear that he wasn't in control of the situation- you were. I told him 10% was crap and he was extremely apologetic. What am I to do? Squeeze the poor guy? I'd already paid in advance in FULL, based largely on HIS reputation- not yours. Now that you're establishing a rep of your own on this board, people will know who they're REALLY dealing with and what to expect..
