Gents,

Please help with info on the best time to go to Medellin. I've heard that there is a big flower festival at some point during the year and also that the practices for Miss Colombia are held in Medellin and one may have the opportunity to hook up with some of those contestants/models with the right contacts. I'm looking to make a trip with maybe 3 other dudes. We'd like to avoid the rainy season if possible, but want to go when there are the most women and when we can get the best experience. Thanks in advance. Also, is there a term I can search for good "Best" lists in Medellin? I. E. Best hotels, best casas, best bars, best guides, etc, etc. Thanks,

My experiences are much less than some of the others on here....but my two colombian pesos.

The weather stays pretty much the same year around. Usually high seventies is high for day plus or minus 5 degrees. My experience has been the rainy season is usually at night (and it REALLY comes down) and the dry season is usually during the day...and when it torrentiallly rains during the night, there is few signs of it by the time the sun comes up.

Flower festival is in early August, locals really get fired up for it but I am not sure that it makes a big difference regarding meeting chicas. Everyone seems to be real happy leading up to flower festival, but then everyone seems happy most of the time in Medellin anyway.

Also, from talking with locals and gringos when I was in Medellin, it seems like there is a local festival of some sort every month or two. Not sure if thats accurate or not, but thats what a gringo who lives there told me.

Not sure about Miss Colombia, but I believe it has been touched on here or there.

Regarding "best of" stuff I would keep browsing some of the threads here and even moreso would spend a fair amount of time on "poorbuthappy.com" and alot of info there regarding the whole Medellin scene including hotels, bars, nightclubs, etc I found to be accurate during my limited Medellin travel.

I am just concerned with what I am paying since there may be 1,000 paisa to pick from every month and they can't all find that guy that overpays.

I have paid casa chicas 40,000 - 60,000 for 2-3 hours back at my hotel. I have paid mayorista Paisas 70,000 - 100,000 for all night. Would you say these were lowend, mid range or high end prices? I was thinking that these were mid range.

personally, I spend most of my time in El Centro. It's very vibrant and clearly displays the beautify of a Latin American cuidad. If I was a gringo with limited Spanish, I'd hightail it out anytime after 6pm.

Many Paisas that I know will not go there at night except for the Avenida Junin corridor. And that does not include any part of Parque Bolivar or anything north, east or west of the park.

Of the multitude of casas in el centro, new life and aleja's are my favorites.

New Life is impressive for its selection. I counted 18 girls in the lineup a few weeks ago. Remembering all those names in my half-drunk, half-stoned stupor is impossible. They recently renovated a hall of rooms downstairs.

Aleja's usually has 6-8 chicas but they seem to be more to my liking. The manager here is a fat, straight male whereas other managers are often either gay men or women.

New life was a favorite of ours last trip. I had take out from there at a very good price I think, 120,000 TLN.

Both girls in these photos are from Aleja's. The blonde goes by Carolina at the casa. I loved her ass and cute smile and she bore a striking resemblance to a girlfriend in the US. She is also a great performer. I frequently come across chicas who are unable to handle my American man meat for extended periods. Carolina had no such problems.

The second chica, Diana, was seated in the reception room when i entered. She used to work here and had stopped by to chat with friends. We chatted and the manager had no problem with me taking her to a room. Her face is so damn sexy that i'm still pissed i couldn't get a photo of it.

central medellin is full of crazy (and i mean legally insane) people running around, homeless people, street children with no parents, people who sleep in the sewer system and everywhere there are glue sniffing drug addicts.

it is also one of the most dirty places on earth. the buses ooze out diesel to the point of making you physically sick, the streets are covered with garbage, everywhere smells like shit in every direction. if you walk around for more than 5 minutes in the day time you become covered with a sticky dust from the diesel and will smell bad. if you have any sort of asthma then do not even think of going into central.

a large amount of girls in this area are addicted to drugs and as one poster pointed out have permanent brain damage from the glue.

these people survive almost like animals using street instincts. it is really quiet tragic to see and there is probably nothing like it anywhere in a developed country.

i would never fathom of talking to the girls in central. i am afraid one would stick a knife in my back given the opportunity. the ones i have seen are often very old, indeed some pushing 50. others are clearly ****. i have seen young children being pimped who cannot be more than 12 years old.

i avoid central like the plague. i only go down in the day time when i absolutely have to buy something that is not available elsewhere or sometimes for banking. it is horrible there. indeed it is beyond horrible.

if someone wants to take a vacation there then by all means do so. but if you have any concerns about your safety and health stay as far away as possible.

For those of you who don't want to pay a taxi to go to Mayorista, take the metro to the ayurá station. When you walk through the turnstiles take a left and continue straight down the stairs and onto the street. Continue straight for 2 long blocks and the mayorista strip will be on the block to your left.

Mayorista has everything- internet, international calls, good food, and of course chicas. I always eat a bandeja at El Encuentro del Tio at Calle 85 50A-69. In fact, i'd consider staying in a hotel here if i wasn't so enamored with el centro.

I went on a thursday evening a while back. I was impressed with the selection, although i didn't partake because i'm not a fan of taking chicas into short-time hotels. I prefer to have them in my own hotel. After drinking and smoking in my own room, chicas become more comfortable around me and their performance improves greatly.

Would love to hear more about your overall impression of Paisas. It seems like you would have a very easy time with the non-pros assuming time permitted.
