After reading many stories, I was aware when I received a letter from a woman who "wanted to meet me". She started with nice and innocent pictures, then grew up to almost naked ones when she turned to be in love with me and asked 400 euros for a tourist visa to visit me in the US.

This is a business really growing up in Russia. Be careful guys!

You just don't understand, Nightwalker. She needs the 400 euros to open the safety deposit box full of millions of dollars that was left there from her (recently deceased) cousin. Of course you will need to advance her some more cash for the roundtrip to Lagos, but think of the windfall you'll be having.

Seriously, this racket is nothing new. The cost for a US visa application is $131 in Russia, not $500, and there's no requirement for having a minimum balance of money in any bank account (which could, of course, be forged in any case).

In general, if you want to increase the liklihood of an earnest relationship online, you should initiate the conversation, not the other way around. I don't have the patience, personally, but lots of guys here swear by mamba.ru and other websites for hooking up, and the girls are usually legit.

Emasculating? No, not really. Rather liberating actually. But you need to be pretty comfortable with your own masculinity or it CAN be pretty un-nerving. And yes, this babe was 41. Former dancer. Yikes - I would stack her body (and skills) up against many girls half her age. Cripes - she's STILL 10 years younger than me so I guess it's all relative.

Net worth? Not really sure. She owns a real estate business including a few dozen apartments. Never got down to comparing balance sheet and income statements but judging from the crowd she runs with and the private clubs she belongs to, clothes, jewelry, watches, apartment, vacations, she's got a few kopecks. Oh - not to mention the E-class MB and driver.

But let's not mice words here. This was by no means an ideal situation. I was clearly a distraction for her and a fling for a few weekends. Kinda fun to sample life on the other side of the equation for a change. Give it a try some time.

Ahhhh true enough, but the trait you describe is not exclusive to Slavic women. This is where it becomes universal. Women who command respect in business and politics the world over exhibit what you describe. They have achieved success in a man's world and and special treatment on the "playing field" will threaten to diminish their achievement. At this level, they despise woman's lib and want to be treated like equals..... except in the bedroom. But the twist comes in how things proceed in public on a date. In America, a date with a powerful woman may end with her INSISTING to pay for the tab (or at least splitting it) and making a show of flashing credit cards. I once had a date with a Moscow entrepreneur who handed me an envelope with cash when I picked her up at her apartment. She said,"it's my turn to pay for dinner". In private, she wanted to demonstrate her equality, but in public, she wanted to be seen as being "taken care of by a strong man"
