They do have an x-ray machine as you exit the airport, which is weird. I think once, as you exited the gate area on your way to baggage claim, they had somebody checking passports.

Yes the customs desk is on your way thru to baggage claim. That x ray machine is odd as I can't think of another airport in Mexico that has something like that as you exit. I also remember last year when I arrived I used the restroom before going to exit and some police guy stopped another guy in the bathroom and was trying to question the guy for carry drugs in his pants.

I understand that it's odd to go through customs on domestic flights as every other city I fly to the airport doesn't check anything when I arrive. Tijuana seems to be stricter. They have a customs desk that you walk by which is similar to the one you go thru when yo walk into Tijuana so I don't remember if it was at that location or the x ray machine. I think it was the x ray machine where at that time they had more agents working. Like I said though now when I arrive late usually not many people are working and seems easy.

Does anyone know if the security approach in Mexican airports is akin to airports in the States? The States is my only point of reference (I fly half the weeks in every year) and your constitutional rights against illegal search and seizure, and arrest are greatly diminished in an airport, so in the States they can do a hell of a lot more to you than just ban you from an airport if go off on an official. Whether Mexican airports take a similar hardline approach, I have no idea.
