    Day 1

without going into to much detail right now because i only have 8 minutes left on my internet card, i will just say this: i'll never go back to costa rica again. went to help last night with a fellow monger and i can actually say for the first 5 minutes i was speechless. without a doubt rio has the best looking girls in the world from my perspective. took home a little blonde firecracker that was definitely a 9+. total damage was $100 american for the entire night. there are alot of rich older europeans in help that are throwing money around like trump that are definitely driving the prices up. but $100 for a whole night with this girl was money well spent. i'll post more when i have time. gotta get back to the beach.

    El Austriaco,

Thanks for your advice: it was a very risky and stupid thing to do I agree but no, she did not know that taxi driver...portuguese is my mother tongue.

    Carnival anyone?

    Here is the deal,

I had plans to go to Rio with a friend from Feb 17 - 28, for Carnival.

Some business problems came up and my friend can't make it to this trip. But I have already booked and partially paid for an oceanfront two bedroom apt in copa.

I'm looking for a travel partner to share the apt expenses and maybe hit the thermas and help. It is very difficult to find any reasonable priced apt in Rio during the Carnival, so please email me if you're interested in this trip.

    Thanks

A bit of info from todays Oglobo pg 15

I do not understand all of this, but maybe some with better portuguese can translate. This info is just to highlight a few facts about how dangerous Rio can be. It may not belong in this section, but the discussion on Tavares is about crime, so I will put it here for now.

    The article compares 2004 -2005 statistics, change%

As I said, my portuguese is not so good, but I believe this report indicates there is a lot of crime in Rio. I am not sure how these numbers compare to say New York City, but I bet crime is much higher here, maybe I am wrong about that. I think Copacabana is very islolated from this real world in Rio.

And these are the REPORTED incidents, how many are not reported?

And then what happened? This seems very interesting, please continue with your story!

A while ago, I reported being stopped by cops in cabs late at night in Rio, both times in the vicinity of favelas and on routes known for drug trafficking. The first one was a legal blitz in Sao Conrado, the second one two cops looking for a little "tip" on Ilha do Governador. Please read them (http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...&postcount=257). Chances are, you get caught in a legal blitz with drugs on you, there's NO way you can tip yourself out of a situation like the one you put yourself in. And yes, you wouldn't just be in a lot of trouble, but in a shitload of trouble. Double is absolutely right. Being able to pay any sum of money to keep you out of jail would be like your birthday, Xmas, Easter, and winning the lottery at the same time.

Sorry to say that, Tavares, but what you did seems just about the dumbest thing you could possibly do in Rio, IMHO. You really lucked out on more than one account here:

    1. This wasn't a setup by the girl to get you busted. Read the board, there are many stories of Help girls setting up customers with drugs.
    2. This wasn't a setup by the cab driver working in collusion with the girl to get you busted. Especially when it was a cabbie SHE KNEW.
    3. You didn't get robbed or worse while in a favela at night. Going to a favela at any time of the day is a bad idea. Worse at night. And to do it to buy drugs is just insane.
    4. You didn't get searched by the police on the way back from there.

Also, once you get caught on a drug-related offense in a foreign country, you just can't count on your government and/or embassy/consulate to be of much help, because there's really preciously little they can do. Remember, as a visitor to a foreign country, you are subject to that country's laws and regulations and entirely in the hands of their authorities. Also, in all likelihood, your embassy will not be very sympathetic towards your cause, so don't expect them to do anything more than they are legally required to do for you (which may be as little as give you the phone number of a trusted lawyer and visit you once in a while to check on your living conditions in the slammer).

Please, Tavares, don't try your luck again, and stay safe. You keep doing this... you will need a lot of luck.

I do not know why you would even ask such a thing. Common sense would tell me that if I was to get involved with drugs in a foreign country the penalty would likely be severe. Especially if I was not connected to anyone with special influence, as is likely your case.

I find it amusing when people travel and loose perspective to the extent that they would just jump in a cab and drive over to a favela on a cocaine purchasing expedition, to purchase cocaine for “a hooker”. When I run into someone that is out of control, I stand back and away, and wonder how they ever made it. Are you sure that you did not have an interest in the purchase yourself? I would respect that a lot more.

Regarding your question, $2000 e. would have been a gift. If you had that kind of money in you pocket, maybe it would of helped. But, if not and you had to go to jail and pay for an international lawyer, and pay protection money to someone while in jail waiting to be released, think that you bill would have climbed to closer to 5000 e or even more. I cannot even imagine the details involved in that kind of situation.

You would have been at the mercy of which ever police officer picked you up, and the command at the station-and that is not to mention the inmates if they put you in circulation. You put you life in jeopardy, and for what? You could have given the chick a tip for the butt, and come out ahead.

BTW, what would that call have been like, if you had to call a friend or family member back home to let them know that you were in jail, and needed help? Send money pleeeease ;-). No laughing matter.

    Good luck with your mongering,

    D

    Response to Tavares' story

Travares, your story is frightening and amazing at the same time. You were in a favela at 4 AM? In a taxi? With only a GDP? I can only imagine what was going through your mind waiting for the taxi driver to get back. You have a life experience that I'm sure you’ll never forget!

I have heard countless stories about tourists being singled out by cops for drugs. The penalties are harsh but rarely enforced since the cops can shake you down for cash instead. If thrown in jail, you'll sit there for weeks or months before even seeing a judge. There is a double standard when it comes to enforcement of the laws since the cops know a tourist will have way more cash than a local. Assume all police in Rio are dirty.

I have hung out in Lapa on crowded weekends were pot smoking is tolerated. It's being sold in small qualities right on the street. I have heard stories about cops paying dealers to narc on tourists so use your best judgment. By the way, I highly recommend visiting Lapa, in the center, on the weekends. It is always the highlight of my trip.

Let's face it; GDPs and blow go together like wine and cheese. I doubt very many of them turn it down. However, there are several scenarios that could happen: Worst case, you're in jail. What if you try to get some and are unsuccessful? You can bet on a lackluster lay since your lady had high hopes of scoring. Then there is the possibility that you get some and run out. Nothing worse than a jonesing girl. These are things to think about before skiing in Brazil!

The most beautiful girl in town..

Thank you all guys for your recommendations about Rio. Your guideness helped me a lot. I was in Rio for 3 days. It was my first time, I was alone and I don't like taking girls back to my hotel (professional reasons). The day I arrived was Sunday and I was so tired. So I had a quick tour around the city, had dinner in Porcao (delicious!) which was only 1 block from my hotel and went to sleep. I personally did not like the athmosphere in Copacabana at all; even during day-time. I am extremely picky about anything and do not like touristic trouble so you should go there and decide for yourself. I loved spending time in Ipanema though. The beach is full of gorgeous cariocas and fun-loving locals. Rua Visconde de Piraja, which is the main street parallel to the beach looked very busy but pretty safe to me. There are many restaurant options, boutiques, bookstores and chic places in the small streets if you walk up the street to the north. So IMHO Ipanema was the best option.

The 2nd night I decided to check out Centaurus at around 8 pm. I paid the 310R fee upfront. The place was full of gorgeous girls. It felt a bit funny to walk around with that robe and flip-flops in the bar area though.. Luckily, the first girl who approached me turned out to be the best looking one. She was not pushy at all. Helped me find my way and get me a drink in the club. Most of the girls speak English (do not expect long conversations) and they are very friendly. I think the best thing about the whole experience was the waiting period. I know there are some fellas who hate waiting for a room in a terma.. I could wait there in the bar area forever, believe me. We talked, made out and kinda had fun conversations in that lounge area for about 2 hours before she reserved a room. Then it's 40 min. or 1 hr. (pay extra) in the room.

On my last night, I visited the same house at around midnight. It was again packed with girls. The girl I had was to die for -like many of them-. The sex was only better. It definitely was a GFE. So if you are a picky guy like me, have limited time in Rio and willing to pay some more $$, then I can recommend Centaurus for fun.

Romantics beware; it's very easy to fall in love seriously with one of those girls. Especially the girl I met on my 2nd night confused me a lot. I don't really consider people as 'good' and 'bad' but I think there is a truth in life; there are good girls as well as bad ones (nasty), bad guys (shallow) as well as good ones. I met a European guy in the Rio, who lived in there for the last 10 years. He seemed like a good guy..He told me that he's seen several guys who married girls they met in Centaurus (The girl I was with told me the same story). 'Do not involve any feelings and emotions!' he told me, because I guess he saw that I was pretty young and had that smile on my face. Then I asked him 'why not?'. 'Because you're going to be fucked up if you fall for a working girl' he replied. I pretended I did not want to understand and asked him if he was married. 'I was..' he replied, '..twice..my first wife was from Canada, my ex was from Europe. both highly educated and coming from good families..but divorced now..'. 'Do you think they fucked up your life?' I asked. 'Yes..' he answered in a very sad way.

    A slew of new comments

Happy to see the board livened up again. As everyone can see, all things are possible in Rio. From Tijuca at R$50 per hour to R$400 per hour. The comments are basically correct in all points, from the termas to the privates. One area not mentioned was Hotside.com.br, which is mostly independents, about 20 - 30% of the listed girls are in Copa or Ipanema, the rest seem to be in the Center. these girls are mostly independent, there are for sure some agency girls in there. But my experience with these privates is $R100 for an hour and R$150 for two hours, ( some are 150 hr and 200 for 2 hrs) similar to the agencies, most do not speak english at all. But if you look at hotside, there are some very lovely ladies. Another site is amantesecia.com.br. For some reason the prices are less here then hotside. I have had good luck with hotside.com.br

Also, Oglobo classifieds are full of able bodies, and they advertise to reach the local client, not the gringo tourist that can not read portuguese, so this is another good option. I am telling you, maralene, for R$60 per hour is a bargain, she has a real massage table and gives a decent massage, for 30 minutes , then a 20 minute romp. What more can you ask for , for less than $30usd. And Rio is loaded with these places, priced from , r$50 - 80 per hour, including a 30 min massage. Most are in the center, and I have been in some places on Rio branco Ave and they are dives, but there are some good ones as well. In September R$150 for two hours at help was obtainable, and I agree the price increase is probably temporary, more and more girls I talk to now are from Sao Paulo, just visiting. The pros are in town. I also agree, that If you are here for a week and see a must have girl, do what you have to do, to make sure you have a good time, an extra $20usd is not a big deal, f-ck it and have fun.

Regarding hot looking women, by far the best performers I know in Rio are not the stunners, or the model types, they are cute and have great attitudes, You know if you have a real Brasilian, that enjoys her life, if she rubbs her pussy the whole time she is having sex. Basically, her attitude is , she is worried about herself getting off much more than she is worried about you. if she is not into pleasing herself, you are missing out, she should be screaming outloud "gostoso". Then you are in for a good time. After she cums, she will hopefully turn her efforts back to you. This has been my experience, the more they get off themselves, the better the whole show will be. Brasilian women like sex, alot.

I live here, and there are many options for R$100 for 2 hours, but it takes awhile to figure these out and many times you need to call a day or several hours ahead, these girls are busy.

So, anything is possible, and an advantage goes to those with knowledge, experience and language skills. It is called a learning curve, and it is just the way it is with everything in life. Those visiting for the first time, take what knowledge you can from the forum, and believe me, this forum is giving you plenty of good advise from many people that really know the deal here, and enjoy Rio. It is a great place to have fun. Help always has 200-300 girls and some are nice, some are not.

Carnival pricing. I was told today that beach chairs and umbrellas rented on the beach will go from R$3 to R$10 for carnival, if that gives any indication of what happens at Carnival. I hope pussy does not increase +300%

Come to Rio, spend money, have fun, have sex and drink beer, enjoy.
