Just came back from Rio and am already beginning to miss it. He said that he had been working at 4X4 for a month now and that he had worked at Monte Carlo for a couple of years but everybody is now leaving Monte Carlo. Right before you exit the restricted area, there area a bunch of booths of taxi companies with pretty girls. Ignore them! Instead I went to the ugly guy with the Real Ónibus sign. He told me the bus picks up right outside, and that the price to downtown is R3.20. He also told me where the luggage lockers are (upstairs on the departure level in the green area of terminal 1). The luggage guys told me all of their (cheap) lockers are full, but that I could check my luggage with them (R15 total). OK! Then I went downstairs to the arrival level again and picked up the bus with the Real name on the side. (Careful: there are two busses; the other costs more, R6, and moves past centro to zona sul, too.)

35 minutes later the bus made the 90-degree right turn from R. President Vargas into Rio Branco. Time to pull the cord. The bus pulled over, and I exited at Rio Branco and R. Buenos Aires. This is only half a block away from 4x4!!! It was just after 1 pm, and since 4x4 opens at 2 pm I decided to walk around a bit. I picked up a couple of shirts at the market above the Uruguaiana metro station, and then had lunch a Festival, a kilo-place on Rua de Alfandega, two doors away from 502. The food was OK, but not spectacular. On the other hand, I ate a lot; and my bill was only R12.

2:15 pm: Showtime. I walked the half block to 4x4, went upstairs and changed into my robe, then went up one more floor to the shower area. I needed to clean up from the overnight flight. Didn’t bring toiletries, but that doesn’t matter. They provide single-use razors and toothbrushes, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, even hair gel. 30 minutes later I was restored to battle condition and felt I could now handle the onslaught of bunda in the main boite.

I have been reading the posts for Rio and think I got already tons of information from it! Thanks to all that contributed.

However, I will be traveling to Rio (Copacabana) in November and I am still undecided which hotel to take.

In my dreams I am thinking of a directly located at the beach with a room that has view on the beach and also a balcony. Ideally they would also have a nice pool area with lots of hot chicks around. I will be able to pay something like 150 $ per night. Also it would help, if the hotel is girl friendly.
