I've stayed there a couple of times and it's quite nice. 100% girl friendly and you get a maid thrown in to clean up every day (they don't look like it but some of them do tricks discretely - I called my maid the year after and she gave me excellent service for 100R).

The balcony views towards Corcovado are kinda impressive when you take chicks back. I think there's also a pool somewhere though I've never used it.

I've rented from a guy in the letting agency on the 2nd floor. You sit and haggle over a cup of coffee in his office. The main prob with aparthotel for me in the past has been gas supplies. They'll claim it affects the whole city which is patent nonsense. Not the end of the world, but rather annoying when you're paying for a nice gas kitchen.

Still more expensive than an equivalent (non-serviced) apartment, but quite good value if you like hotel comforts at less cost.

We should start a section just on apartments and who to trust when it comes to apartment rentales, we should look out for one another in terms of who we should be able to trust when it comes to renting apartments. Monglers should be able to trust each others recomendation. So maybe it would help if we start some type of forum on this topic and up date it everytime we make a reservation and rate them according to how everything works out.

That thread was started by a friend of mine after we had our 'pants taken down' by Gringomanagement when we rented a apartment from them in June 2006.

We were bitten once - NEVER EVER AGAIN. And we try t warn as many a possible .

I would rather walk 1 block away to the metro station and head to centro.

Praca Serzedelo Correia 15, room 1104 is also closed.

Av Nossa Copacabana 583, apt. 204 , Clube 204 is charging R$55 for 20min.They probably have the youngest girls all 18-20 years old Termas Copacabana, Av Nossa Copacabana 583, apt. 203 charges around R$85 for a 20min session but is the cleanest and most professional of the cheaper places. The girls there are older but of a higher standard too. BBBJ can be negotiated with the girl in advance for no additional cost at all of the places.

Another cheap place is Rua Toneleiros, 173 Sobrado (above) same prices as Clube 204, Girls are not quite as nice or as young though.

Rua Siqueira Campos, 22 also has a R$55 for 20mins but may also charge an entrance fee of R$10-20 or will waive it completely if you are a regular. Inside they have pool table (if you can play in the dark), so you can interact the the girls a little which generally can help you make you choices. Mondays and Tuesdays seem to be new girl tryout night and therefore have more girls available with less customers. Beer is only R$10 for three small latas so I found a relatively cheap place to sit around and drink early evenings. It is open till midnight everyday except Sunday.

Apartment Reservation

A few days before I left on this trip, I tried to make reservations for an apartment with a Jacuzzi. David from Gringo Management confirmed the apartment was available, so I paid a deposit through PayPal. When he received the payment, David said he would send me the confirmation letter later that day. Instead, I got an e-mail saying: “I misread my calendar and the apartment is actually not available”. Bloody idiot!

When I enquired about another apartment, David said he’d get back to me tomorrow. Six days later, when I was already in Port Alegre, I finally got a reply. I didn’t like any of the alternatives David had to offer me. Not to waste my precious time, I finally agreed to switch to an apartment that looked damn ugly to me. But David assured me that the place looked much better than the pictures...

Airport Bus

After having a smoke, I hopped on the airport bus to Copacabana. As we were driving along Avenida Atlantica, I was looking where to get off. The bus driver asked for my destination and dropped me off right by my apartment. Door to door service for just 6 BRL.

Someone from Gringo Management showed me to my apartment and... left straight away. I didn’t like the Internet pictures and I hated the actual apartment. Apart from a sofa and the bed, the place was totally bare. The walls were totally bare. The bedspread looked as if it was older than I am. This was the kind of place you’d be ashamed to bring a girl to!

There was no safe. When I took a shower... there was no hot water. But at least the Internet connection worked, so I could complain about this dump.

My last trip i stayed at the Princess Copacabana which I loved but since my last trip, there rates have almost tripled. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good girl friendly, nice place right around the Help area. Or should i stay in an apartment??
