Yes that's it! Meia Pataca. How has that been lately? Thanks for the info. I'll be there next month with some reports to follow. Few months back I spent some time in Help, 4X4 and Lluomo. Had a great time. One bad experience bringing a Help girl back to the hotel. Time vs $ issue but still a great performance. Rio is a great place to visit.

Where exactly is the balcony? I've only been to Rio once but could not find it. There is also the restaurant behind Help there is supposed to have good afternoon action. Could not find that place either. Could someone get more specific directions?

Balcony is on Av Atlántica, next to Rua Ronald de Carvalho. Three blocks after Av Princesa Isabel.
There is no restaurant behind Help. Maybe you think of Meia Pataca, which lies in the block before Help?

What is the mongering season in Rio? I was there in mid-December and it was fabulous. Last time I made a stop in Rio on my way to Peru in June and it was very slow..Rio specialists, when to go?

should maybe add that if you want to go by taxi from são cristóvão, it's better to get a cab, if possible, from the far side of the station (not the exit towards the main road but the north one - ie turn right as you exit the platform.

i must say if you go to vm by metro to have a cheap f**k, then it's a bit weird to throw away money on a taxi getting from the metro station to vm. it's just a 5 minutes walk.

that 5 minute walk to vm is good to get you time to inhale the lovely trashy atmosphere and also to have a quick [CodeWord134].

Just get of at the station before Maracana, that is São Cristóvão. From there it's only a short walk to VM. If you don't want to walk any taxi passing by will take you there.

Should maybe add that if you want to go by taxi from São Cristóvão, it's better to get a cab, if possible, from the far side of the station (not the exit towards the main road but the north one - ie turn right as you exit the platform. The reason being that at Cristovao the traffic is going in the wrong direction and has to go much further (and crossing over doesn't just reverse things).

Just out of curiosity, how do you deal with people asking for tips? Some of the people at 4x4 (and other termas too) can be pests. For some reason the maids and people that sign you into the cabines are always asking me for tips. Strangely, the reception girls and doormen (at 4x4) rarely ask me anymore. I have not been there for quite some time but I remember Solarium had the most aggresive tip requestors in my experience.

Sometimes girls at VM ask me for a 5R tip and I usually refuse - it's usually (not always) the ones who have given bad service. I suppose my European mentality feels slightly offended. I've bargained a price that she is ostensibly happy with - even if it's just getting the 1R off for the condom - but I feel slightly cheated if she renegades on the price by asking for a tip. I usually tell her I find it rude.

I haven't been pestered in 4x4 by often have given the cloakroom lady a small tip, and have bought drinks for staff behind the bar on the rare occasion. I think if anyone asked me for a tip I would just say, "No."

Very, very occasionally I give a tip for truly outstanding service is this was not reflected in the price. I think this is bad practice though so tend not to unless I've lost the plot that night. ;-)

I tip the staff at Cervantes by rounding up - not every time, just enough to make a point - cos I go there a lot when I'm in Rio and it is outstanding service and value.

For the last few months the board has been full of stories of slim picking at help, when I was there in feb it was mobbed, is this an annual cycle? Will it get busy again for my next trip in feb 09? Andy

The annual migration of girls from all over Brazil and Europe coming into Rio starts around early November, peaks between New Years and Carnaval and then right after Carnaval they start to return in the next weeks and months. You should be hitting it right at the peak.

sylvia or what ever in 4x4 is kool but she does smoke some ciggies. last i was there about 2 years ago i smoked too so it actually made me more understanding of her role around there while talking and puffing away.

i tip in america but i do not tip in any of the various countries i visit. if you properly study the culture wherever it is you go, you should know what to do in general situations. one thing i have learned is no one tips outside of america and it looks foolish to the locals and yes they then may have an open to take advantage of you not solely because of your generosity but also your percived lack of knowledge with regard to local customs (especially in se asia). so, if you have money, the more reason to try to parlay some ass with it in the states where it may really get you that unreachable pussy. most of the pussy in brazil is reachable without all the antics. thats my philosopy...

OK - let's break the log jam.

Went to HELP! last Tuesday night. Not very busy so my wingman and I decided to take the host's suggestion and get a table. At first I balked (never having gotten a table before) but it turned out to be a great idea because not only did we avoid the whole drink ticket crap but we got waited on hand and foot (as it was not so busy). The knock-on effect was that we were visited by all kinds of GDP's wanting to know if we were Russian Oligrach's or something. I must admit we were being a little stupid in buying drinks for people. It was kinda fun holding court (so to speak). At one point we told the waiter that a group of ugly girls were blocking our view of the dance floor and would he please ask them to move - so he did! Heck of a deal. The King of HELP! for a night.

We ended up attracting a smorgasbord of girls but there were a few in particular that we invited to hang around and drink some tequila with us. There were a few tense moments when three REALLY drunk girls (and not too pretty I might add) came and sat down uninvited. One of them even started helping herself to the plate of shrimp we had ordered. Of course, a quick nod to my new best friend the waiter and he had the silly girl thrown out. Again, a heck of a deal. I could get used to this "big shot" routine.

It seemed like the less interested we were in taking girls home, the more would show up. At 3:00 AM the the Tequila girls wanted to go so we kissed them on the cheek and sent them home. Not more than 30 seconds later ANOTHER group comes over and wants to know if we were gay? Of course we told them we were gay and invited them to sit down, offered them drinks and proceeded to discuss the football scores ignoring them completely. Now these girls were getting REALLY confused.

I invited the short little Morena with big tits and a nice ass to come home with me because she said she lived all the way up in Novo Iguacu and had no place else to stay (yeah, right). At that point in the evening I had not laid a finger on her and told her she could sleep in my room but "no sex" because I'm gay. She laughed it off but when it was time to go, guess who follows me out the door? When we got in the taxi I warned her that I wasn't going to pay her anything and she said that would be fine as long as we didn't have sex. So much for a game of "Bullshit".

Anyhow, to make a long story short - we were all over each other in about 30 seconds once we got in the room. I guess the disguise didn't fool anyone.
After a few hours of wild sex we fell asleep as the sun came up.

It must have been well past 10 AM when we both woke up, had one more for the road and she hit the shower. Now the awkward bit - we had never actually discussed price and since the pickings were pretty slim in HELP! that night (on both sides) I wanted to see how far I could take this. Of course the old sob story about an ailing mother and her younger sister who was a single Mom came up, yada, yada, yada. I asked her how much she wanted $R300. I said, "tell you what, you come back tonight for an encore and I'll give you $R350".

She though about it for what was to me, waaaay too long. She finally grinned at me and said, "ok, I'll do it but I can't come until after 10:00 PM because I have English lessons tonight you have to buy me pizza for dinner. And get some decent beer in here because I can't drink that crap Antarctica Original you have in the mini bar!!!!!! Oh, and you have to give $R20 for cab fare. "

Sometimes you have just gotta love a simple girl with simple taste.
