    Sampa newbie questions

Bambino, thanks for the excellent post! Appreciate your sharing the wealth.

Sounds like Kilt, Bomboa and Bahamas are your faves. Is there a best time you recommend to getting there on a Sat or Wed nite? Also, what are the dress codes in these places, are nice jeans OK?

As for regular bars, I've read O'Malleys and All Blacks may be good bets. Thoughts?

As for dumb questions, are ATMs with US networks pretty common? I heard travelers checks are no bueno.

    Obrigado!

    Bambino - elaborate on Palms

Bambino, could you update about this place? Do the girls come out for a meet and greet or is it just the photo book? The payment is $R130 for the massage and then you have to negotiate separately for FS with the girl? Usually $R100 to $R150 that you pay the girl in the cabine? Are you saying that they have full beds instead of the usual mat on the floor?

Thanks for sharing. I was in Sao Paulo at the end of May and I can tell you that Connection Club was well worth my visit. The cab ride is killer though $R50 each way but there is a bus that stops right across the street if you are adventurous enough. I believe you pay $R240 for a 45min session with one girl and the entrance fee is included. I know they have the same owner as Cafe Millenium but the atmosphere at Connection was a cross between Bomboa and Bahamas. The rooms are very nice, just like Millenium. Like you, I liked Bomboa but the entrance fee now is like $R180, right? . . . so with a session you are spending $R330-$R380.

    Some suggestions...

I just got back yesterday. I was in SP for 18 days. My 7th. time there, and my Portugese is essentially fluent by now.

It's been 4 years, now, of this relationship with Brazil. I think I finally have a good feel of many of the significant spots spoken of here on the forum, as well as on gpguia and nossoforum.

Spanish will help. My first trip (to Rio) I only spoke Spanish. It didn't help quite as much as I had hoped. Thats why I went for Portugese. But I find that many more of the gals in SP speak Spanish than in Rio. As a matter of fact, at least 5 times this trip, I was hanging with a garota who asked if I spoke Spanish. Many of them go to Spain to work for a few months at a time. So I think they want to practice.

I never made it to Cafe Gaugin. It is very well spoken of here. I was staying at the Sonesta Hotel (on Ave. Iberipuera, in Moema). Quite close to where you will be, on Ave. das Nacoes Unidas. It opens at 8 pm. But I never made it. It is in Moema, so a good bet for you to try.

I would avoid Cafe Photo. I have never been. I am aware thaat the garotas there are quite hot. But my buddy went there one night (while I went to Millenium) and he called me from there saying they are all asking at least 500 BRL for an hr. or two. I have heard other accounts of them asking 600 or 700 also. If you want to check it, please report back. But my Swiss buddy, who is loaded, left.I think Photo is also in the Moema area.

The best "clinica", IMHO is The Palms. All the other clinicas I have been to have a good selection of 6's, 7's, and maybe an 8. (Clinica Kin, and Assahi, in Morumbi, and one other that I forget) But they all have massage tables; the mat goes onto the floor, and there you go. The Palms had the hottest gals I have seen in any clinica (all at least 8 or 9's), and the rooms are awesome. Huge showers, etc. The guy who is sort of the "host" makes sure you get a good idea of the personalities of the girls in the "book". I don't think you can go wrong there. I believe the Palms is open by mid-afternoon. It is not crazy expensive. An excellent value.

I have been to Millenium 3 times over the years. I won't go again. I will be posting more about my time there, as well as another friend's. It's a big club, sorta like a "disco". But there is little or no "quality control" of the gals by management. The gals there are much younger, and are playing typical 20 something games. I have had ok times there before. But I think I was just "fresh" at the time. So with little time, don't waste it there. Also, it's up in Aclimacao (about a 20-30 min ride from you).

Millenium has a sister club called Connection (in Vila Olimpia. The same deal, and further away).

I would suggest STRONGLY, that you get to know Bomboa. It's on the other side of "Jardines" from you. But don't let distance get between you and there! It is one of my 2 favorites now. It is open during the day (at 2 pm). The larger area opens at 5 pm, with a live band (very good), a Sushi bar, and a full menu. The gals are 7-9.5. They are consistently high quality time. The management is very involved with your having a good time. Staff is v. friendly. And the gals aren't too aggressive. They all asked 300 at first, and I always had my counter of 250 BRL accepted. The rooms are nice. Open till 4.

I will chime in more soon; but my other STRONG suggestion is Kilt. It is in Centro ( a 20-30 min drive for you) longer in the killer rush hour traffic. It doesn't open until 10. But the girls are 7-9.5. The energy is great. The gals a re a bit more "mercenary", but I had two very good experiences there. One came over to the hotel a couple times ( by that time I had moved to the Pestana Hotel in Jardines. A much better location to everything). They have rooms on site, but I hear they suck. The option most choose, is to take out. My buddy consistently gets 200 there. I got 250 BRL. And it was worth it.

Kilt also has these wild "sex shows" op on stage. That's why it's called "Kilt Shows".

All these places are in a little paperback booklet you get at Reception. The back section has it all. But you can get all the info you need here. (locations and numbers). But most of the cab drivers posted at your hotel should know all these.

DO NOT let of the cabbies steer you to any other destination, no matter how good they say it is.

And by all means STAY AWAY from a club called Romanza. It is the biggest rip off in the city.

OH, I've got some good things to say about Bahamas also, but I gotta get into bed...

Need help: 2 nites for Sampa newbie!

Finally! I'll get to see SP. I have 2 'free' nites. Sat Aug 4th and the following Wed. Staying at the Hyatt and no Portuguese skills, but fluent in Spanish.

So, here are my questions for the Sampa sages out there:

    1. Based on location, good places to go on Sat and Wed nites without being in a cab for 3 hrs (30 mins max?). I've heard of club foto, gaugin, and kilt. Not on a tight budget, but not going stupid either. Suggestions?

    2. What about a good club to meet local hotties (late 20s/early 30s)? I love to meet women from other countries, even if it's harmless flirting without hooking up. Is Spanish prevalent enough to get by? Maybe an argentina hangout?

    3. I would like to see some of the city in the daytime. Any must do's? Not big on museums, would rather see locals in their element (street markets, festivals, live music, etc)

    Any advice welcome!

    Thanks for your time!

The club across from Kilt is "My Love" (IMHO, quite a step below Kilt, Ocean, or most of the other son the same street)..."Love Story" is several blocks away on Rua Araujo (as I recall). I was there in June and it was still going strong, but do not bother showing up before 3:00AM.

Love Story is live and well

It just starts too late for me. Itīs across from Kilt. It seems many of the garotas from the neighboring clubs go there from 2-5 am.

    Millenium...stay away...

I last went to Mellinium 4 yrs. ago. I also went there 12 mos. ago. I donīt remember anything spectacular about the sex I had, but it is fun to be in a straight-up disco/club scene. Itīs sorta the "Help " of Sao Paulo (perhaps a half step up.

The girls are very young, and are playing all kinds of games.

My first choice; I said Oi, we chatted a moment, I offered her a drink, and before I knew it, I was at a table out next to the pool with her ugly friend. They proceed to order food and champaigne. NOT THIS motherfucker!!!, I say to myself.

I went to the speak with the Garįon, and asked what exactly I am paying for. He said "everything" ;eventhough the girls gave their "red cards" and I gave my "black card".

I told him to cancel everything immediately. I had to speak with the manager too.

So, I left my cigs and lighter on the table and went back into the club. I eventually found an unspectacular sweetie (she is moroccan and indian; totally beautiful, with a hard, curvy body) to salvage the night.

There was an hour wait for a room (although the rooms are nice). She was good (+camisinha), but a bit young and silly.

Upon checkout, I checked the bill, and the food and champaigne were still on the bill. Again, I protested and made the manager take the charges off. Of course I was surprisisngly professional and matter of fact about it. There wasnīt much he could do.

I think the girl got a talking to. My buddy also has a very unspectacular time in the cabine, after spending a couple hrs. and drinks on a hottie.

    Bahamas

    Went there night #1

The garotas are mostly 7īs to 9īs. The energy is not so good. It was like that last yr. also. The girls will ask 500 BRL. I finally setteled on 300 (considering it a mistake). I had to be firm about not doing her AND her hot Gaucha friend. Too expensive for me, on a first night.

She was actually quite worth the time. A 6 foot morena, with the most beautiful face, green eyes (real ones) and a bunda that cannot be described in words (Tania, is her name). Not too big, nice shape, a bit of a "bubble" thing happening...(both gave numbers and offered a hotel visit).

  9. #340

    Bomboa

Went there night # 2, in the early afternoon day 5, and did 3 "rounds" there last night.

They open at 2 pm. There is a very laid back attitude then. The "club" area is closed. And there are about 10-15 garotas milling about. All in pretty nice spirits. I did the first "dupla" I have done in a year, with these 2 Bahianas. It was a life altering experience. I have to say; although I totally dig the "Gaucha" thing, I find them to be routinely more "reserved". Itīs like the further north you go, the hotter the girls are. (but I totally fucked "Fergie" last night).

Last night was amazing. The management is friendly, the girls are not pushy, the management tells them to not go around chewing gum. The rooms upstairs are quite nice.

    Trivia point of the day...

I finally found out that those born in the city of Sao Paulo are "Paulistanos", those born in the STATE of SP are "Paulistas".

Those born in Rio proper are "Cariocas", those born in the STATE of Rio are "Fluminense"...

And Botafogo is kicking everyones ass at the moment.

    Clinica Assahi (in Morumbi).

When I was still in Moema, at the Sonesta, I took a trip to the "hinterland". A place spoken well of on 2 of the brizilian forums.

I found it similar to Kin (the ONE time Iīve been there). Girls were 5-7īs. Oral covered. Very good sex.

In general, I just donīt think the clinicas are for me. I hate throwing a plastic mat onto the floor for sex.

I have heard the Palms is unique among the Clinicas.

I am going to blow off my friend and his wife for a late lunch, and check it out today. Hell, Iīll see them again before I go. And I have to remember the "Prime Initiative"...in the words of some famous monger here whose name escapes me ..."to fuck until your prostate hurts!".

As much fun as Iīm having , Iīm already dreading coming home in 5 days...

    Kilt

I canīt believe Iīve been here 7 times and have never been to Kilt. I got involved at Vagão once, before making it next door to Kilt.

Kilt is freakin unbelievable. MANY 9īs and some 10īs. Plenty of 8īs. a table. 30R for general admittance. Drinks v. reasonable.

I met a guy from NY (photographer) who has moved here for 4-6 mos. He is photographing the girls and fucking everything in site. He is so spoiled that the one girl he had sights on hooked up with another guy. He just couldnīt do anything else. There is just so much here. I left with this gal that was so fucking beautiful, it made it hard for me psycologically! Iīm not kidding. And Iīve been at this for about 20 yrs. It hasnīt happened before. She came back the next afternoon. $250 BRL each 90 min. (my photographer says normal is more like 200 for TLN).

Met a Swiss dude. We met at a couple places. He had never been to Photo. I had plans at Bomboa. He came later to meet me. He said thte girls at Photo are taalking 500-700 BRL and not necesssarily for the whole night.
I still havenīt been to Photo. He said the eye candy was awesome, but I just donīt think I have to go to those economic lengths for awesome....

    Hotel Pestana.

The Pestana is a solid 4 star hotel (so was the Sonesta, but this a step up; but somehow still not a 5 star).

Itīs in Jardines, at the end next to Paraiso. Much more accessable to Centro and all else. Although only 4 blocks from Paulista, itīs a butt busting climb. And I did it yest. at night. I found it a bit intimidating. I wonīt do it again at night.

Parque Ibiripuera ia a 5-6 block walk, downhill. You end up at the lagoa. Opposite end of the park from the modern art museum (Bienal). Itīs a bit too much of a walk all the way around, so I took a short cab. Be sure to check out all 4 or 5 museums on the site. Donīt go on the weekend. Itīs packed, with lines. Not during the week.

I think I will stay in Jardines nextime, but closer to the other end (near Agusta). I have been pleased with the Estanplaza in the past (on al. Jau, between Pamplona e Campinas).

Excellent Samba club on Angelica (#2333). Itīs a bit "yuppy", but fun.

    Congonhas

The whole thing has been a little unsettling for me.

I arrived july 13th. and was staying at the Sonesta (on Av. Iberipuera. 4 blocks from Shopping Ibiripuera; in Moema). I just wanted to get the feel of another neighborhood.

You see flights coming and going right over your head.

I cancelled my plans for Fortaleza the day before the crash. And I would have returned yesterday. ALL flights are now cancelled from Congonhas. And it is playing hell with cancellations all over the country.

60% of flights were cancelled from Porto Alegre yest.
Iīve heard lots. But what seems to be a big problem is that the military and civil branches share and overlap many responsibilities. And there is animosity between them. Not to mention communications issues.

A flight from the US had to return yesterday because when he entered brazilian airspace (zone 4, in the north west|). he lost all tower contact. Apparently he announced to the cabin that in 30 yrs., he has never been in such a position.

And the kicker, itīs been raining, and the other side of the same runway as the crash is experiencing a land/mud slide as we speak. The firemen and engineers are all out there oogling the slide.

BTW The Sonesta was 63USD per night if paid in advance, no refund. It is clean, has a hip bar/restaurant. And the rooms are clean and modern. Sliding door balconies. However, it was cold. No heating. No significant amenities. The business ctr. is only avail. during the week.

I moved to the Pestana. Itīs much better positioned to everything. Of course Gaugin, Photo, and clinica Kin are close.

Not true. The Slate article is just one unhappy traveller bitching out. That doesn't mean that TAM is a bad airline. I f have been flying with them for a long time, and only just recently has the situation been awful, because of the recent traffic control problems. On the contrary, their staff has always been very pleasant and nice, as opposed to Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways, etc.
