Thanks for the website. I have been a regular there but have never known they had a website. I do think that the website is a bit out of date since the name of the club isn't W anymore. They club has been renovated and changed its name to Garden Club. Otherwise everything is the same. It was an article about it in one of the latest issues of Sexy Premium.

I agree with Sui Generis, I have spent lots of time in Rio and before I knew any portuguese it was very easy to find a GP that spoke good english, this was back in 1998-1999. I was recentley in Help last month and it seemed that most of the girls spoke broken english. As a matter a fact one girl got mad at me becasue she said that i was a brazilian faking to be an american. She got pissed and didnt want to leave with me. If your looking for english speakings chicks Rio is the spot.

This is a recurring (and I guess legitimate) demand on this forum.

As I see it, the problem with this kind of linguistic criteria is that it is difficult to evaluate beforehand if the coveted garota really speaks English. When you call her on the phone in order to make an appointment, she may be able to mumble «yes» and «no» without really mastering the language. On the other hand, she could have the capacity to understand everything you say to her without being able to reply in an proficient way in English. For example, she could understand (and ideally participate in) a «small talk» conversation without being able to understand a poem like Ezra Pound's The Seafarer. I wonder if that would be really a loss.

A subsidiary question, related to the first one, is the following one: what is the degree of fluency you are looking for? This last criteria is hard to evaluate. I Rio, it is well know, few garotas speak English properly but despite that they still have the ability to communicate with gringos. We may concede, however, that paulista garotas are less exposed to strangers and it follows from that that their capacity to guess what you want to say is less than perfect. This "quasi-sociological" fact does not impede that I once met and took out a NGP working in the Iguatemi Shopping Center who was proficient in English.

In fact, I have always some qualms about the answer garotas put under the rubric "idiomas" (languages). Is it a marketing thing or does it always reflect the reality? I remember my experience with Elektra (who apparently is supposed to speak English). I tried once to test her English abilities. I switch from Portuguese to English but she did not answer in English. She simply smiled at me without saying a damn English word. It's hard to me to tell if she speaks English or not.

I can vouch for Bella. She's even a private English teacher. The problem with her is that she look too european to me.

It's easy to go there.

From Moema, just take Santo Amaro in a south direction up till Avenida Roque Petroni Junior, then your turn right (on Avenida Roque Petroni).
