It's a big deal. I bet most of them will be closed (if not all). A good thing to do on days like this is to utilize phone numbers you've collected from the previous week.

    Happy Hunting,

How big of a deal is Easter in Brazil?

Will the termas and such be closed on Good Friday and Easter?

    Thanks!

You're right, but that's pretty much true everywhere, not just Brazil. When I took the favela tour a few years back, we talked with a woman running a community school who said she was 38, but she looked like Mammy Yokum--complete with the pipe.

I know what you mean, generally I thought that for example people my age in Brazil because of the hard life looked much older than they should have. Especially the poor or the mothers of GDP's because you would think they were poor and the life is hard therefore they age faster and harder. For the most part in Brazil I get taken for at least 10 years younger than I am.

on the other hand I have met women from match.com who were not poor, they were educated, lawyers, architects, designers and other professional types and the ones in their early 40's looked fine, they were not worn out, they were fit and attractive. So I think it has to do with the economic status, if you are middle class or above then the aging process is slower.

    DFWdude 90 day visa

I think you should try another consulate. Every person who continually gets screwed over with a 5 year visa has said they used HOuston. So I think there may be a problem.

I use LA now and have heard of anybody but one person getting a 90 day visa.

    Visa

    Guys,

After my 5 year visa expired in 2005 I got stuck with two 90 day'ers in a row. On the third request I got another 5 year. I specifically ask for a 5 year each time I applied. I used TraVisa service in San Fran because there is no Brazil office where I live. The guys at TraVisa told me it is up to the person who reviews your application as to which Visa you recieve ......

Very frustrating. I'm just happy I finally ot another 5 years before having to apply again....

Maybe you could try the NYC consulate. I got a 5-year visa without asking. Here's an except from their website:

    The Tourist Visa is generally good for 5 years with multiple entries. There are, however, exceptions for the duration of the visa, based on the documentation presented and purpose of the trip;

In recent years I have gone in mid March and late March, great times to go, less crowds, better prices and better weather. This year I am going after this time period and the weather should be in the mid 80's and the mongering scene should be outstanding as there will be less tourists.

    5 year visa

Have you ever thought of attaching a letter saying that you require a 5 years visa because you will be visiting the place regularly?

    90 Day Visa

I use the one in Houston. I think I will use my parents address next time and use the one in San Francisco

    DFWdude 90 day visa

    What consulate do you use?
I am not sure if it makes a difference but I still may avoid using that one. My visa runs out in 2007 and I might renew before I relocate if it turns out I have to use your consulate.
