    Any help greatly appreciated.

Also, any Barra da Tijuca tips appreciated. I saw some of Bubba Boy's great tips. Didn't even know anything was going on here.
Why don't you look up? There is a bar with Home, Forums..... and Abbreviations.

You might have a problem if you have later on a connecting flight in another airport but not on that first leg.

No body will stop you from consuming alcohol, that you purchased in the duty free, onboard, as long as you don't get drunk and start behaving foolish.

In such a case they even have hand cuffs on board the plane on long flights.
Be sure that they will not only use them if necessary but they will also hand you over to the police once landed.
Actually it's only fluid stuff that is problem. I tried last November. And got trouble like hell in Portugal. Everything else went just perfect.

Thanks so much, it is more than enough I think I will go to Porto Alegre and yes I will read all the specific thread as there are there so little reports I do not need much time.

Cold water no problem enough that warm weather and it should be.

If not big sex scene at least it means not many mongers and maybe with a little of work and patience higher chance to date a regular one and to have a sort of girlfriend, I do not need to change girl every night, I will do it my week in Rio, then just to have daily sex and life beach and to take a rest and if I understood well Porto Alegre can be a good place for this.

    cabin carry on from Lufthansa

Duty-free articles purchased at airports inside the EU or on flights on planes registered in the EU, e.g. on Lufthansa flights, may be carried on board in a sealed bag as long as they are accompanied by a receipt bearing the date of the flight (this does not apply to flights to the USA or to code-share flights). These items must be sealed by the duty-free sales staff. Additional special regulations apply to USA and UK flights. For example, liquids still may not be taken on board as hand luggage on any flights departing from or flying via the United Kingdom. Special regulations apply to liquid Duty Free items in hand luggage taken on board direct and connecting flights to the USA. Please ask about these at the local sales outlet.

Similar regulations apply in an increasing number of countries worldwide, such as the USA, Japan and Korea.
Just for a cross check this is what Lufthansa says

You are therefore advised to check the website of the relevant departure airport before your flight to find out which regulations apply.

Specific regulations may also apply to carrying liquid or gel Duty Free items in hand baggage, depending on your destination. Please enquire about these at the local point of sale.

Lufthansa exerts no influence on these legal stipulations and asks passengers to bear them in mind already when preparing for a trip and to reduce hand luggage to the bare minimum.

You are therefore advised to check the website of the relevant departure airport before your flight to find out which regulations apply.

If it is due to alcohol is something (which I doubt), but if it is due to liquids, it is not that Rio forbids, but the connection airport in Europe will object at time of security control there.
Usually you cannot drink alcohol on the plane that you bought at the duty free or brought on board, so you cannot drink alcohol any spirit unless it has been served on board.
IE if they feel you are intoxicated they do not serve you any alcohol anymore and by the rule you are not allowed to "drink your own", so they...dry you up.
That is the principle behind the rule.
I think that the European Union security checks allow you to transit with liquids over the rules (100ml and more than 1000ml altogether) if the purchase has not been made (and the bag sealed) within EU.
So they do not accept bags sealed outside the UE.
You can see this clearly explained in airports as HKG, for instance.
Still there is a lot of "discretionality" left at the mercy of the security guys.

What I'm saying is that not all products that you purchase from duty free when you are departing Brasil are allowed on the plane as part of your carry-on when you have a connecting flight in the states. These items need to be in your checked luggage when you have it re-checked.

I also witnessed first hand, when the guy across the aisle from me started pulling beers from his backpack. This was beer he bought from the little store after going through the security check.

That makes sense, french are well known for their hospitability.

I went through Amsterdam, where I had no problem what so ever.

By far best airport in Europe.

Well this is how I understand it by reading the entry form
Correct. On top of US$ 500 that you can bring as gifts (your personal items that you'll take away are not counted towards that limit) there is another US$ 500 that you can spend in any international airport in Brasil upon arrival.

Main articles that might be of interest are alcohol and perfumes. Electornics and such are ridiculously expensive here.

There are fewer reports because these are not monger-centric cities. You will find many light skinned girls in these cities to the south.

Porto Alegre and other cities of Rio Grande do Sul have high numbers of light skin girls, About 80 percent of the population is Caucasian. There are many people of Portuguese, German and Italian decent. There are several European style settlements in the RDS cities of Caixas, Gramado and Canela. If you are into the beach scene, this is not the place to visit as the waters are cold due to influences of the antarctic currents. Gauchas typically go north to Santa Catarina for beach vacations. Porto Alegre has numerous termas, escort services and swing clubs but nothing to match Rio de Janeiro. Your best option for PFP is to consult with a taxi driver.

I have been to Florianopolis only three times and always brought my own entertainment. Like Porto Alegre, the population is mostly German, Italian and other European decent. There are several clubs but they are spread out beyond the central city and difficult to negotiate without a car. The numerous beaches are among the best of Brasil and there are hundreds of posadas lining the beaches. Check out the Porto Alegre and Florianopolis threads for specifics.
