This exact same B.S. happend to me as well while i was in Shanghai. It is just so F'n sad that things like this happen here in Shanghai. That is why on my next trip to Shanghai, I have decided to read the board ahead in time.

Thank God, this crap didn't end up in some kind of attack on me. I didn't RTFF before going to Shanghai because it was a business trip and i didn't have intention of mongering, but for one time that i had the time, this same Robbery thing happend with me. It was on same F'n Nanjing Road that the Tout took me from to a KTV.

The explanation given was that KTV's have a sitting fee of 3000+ Rmb. It is just so F'n sad that i don't think that i would ever go into a KTV ever again.

I have been to many countries going out with Sex workers all over, but the worst two experience that i have had were both in China, once in Shanghai, and once in Guangzhou.

I always thought about posting my experiences, but i always stopped my self from posting my experience in Shanghai, as i knew, that i was to blame for not RTFF.

Anyways, I am glad that you posted your experience. Getting ripped off by a girl for not providing good service is one thing. I can take that, but this kind of robbery is just B.S. (a complete and utter B.S.)

Walk a few blocks then go to this building 8th floor very close to the Howard Johnson hotel. Something called. Pub bar club.

We go in and there are about 20 beautiful women. They take you to sit down at the karaoke room. And they all come in. Rate them between 7-9!

I chose this that very cute and speaks japanese too!

Then they all go out and we chose a very cheap drink. Shortly another lady comes in and says she just wants to sit down. I tell her I only ordered one woman why two? She tell me don't worry, she just sitting.

Then they start bringing other drinks in. I tell them no but they just put it down.

After about 20min and (3 drinks each for the girls) I want to go home with this cute girl so they give us the bill. Guy comes in and says it is 3800 yuen!

We check the bill and the menu, they ordered drinks worth 2000 and the others is for the 20min in the room and 2 girls!

We argue for a long time and eventually I give them everyting in my pocket 600 yuen and he comes back to my hotel room for another US$100!

I was robbed and ended up with no girl! I am so scared now.

Shall I move out of the hotel? I still have one more night. Will they come for me? Can I call the police?

I really wanted a good time but I am so scared now!

I am so scared. So dissapointed. Feel so cheated.

I don't know how many times there were clear warnings posted from others here in this forum to never, ever follow touts, male or female.

Only approx. 3 -4 months ago, somebody else posted a real horror story about getting cheated by touts, and from what you described about the location (close to HJ Hotel), it seems that it was the same place and the same protagonists.

Mate, I do feel sorry for you, but hopefully, this was a lesson well learned.

To all other newbies coming to Shanghai: Never, never, never follow any touts or girls in the street. You will get cheated, for sure. And, if you have bad luck, you will even get beaten up in those establishments.

Really should have done your homework better first on this, so you are partially to blame for this.

These places probably have some degree of protection from police anyway. I think they must be reeling in big money as these types of touts are everywhere uneducated lao wai roam.

I am curious as to whether you had this happen and then found the forum, or have been another lurker and just not RTFF?

I think the local law enforcement just going to think of him as a stupid tourist who got ripped off.

If anything, with the intent to commit prostitution himself. The LE won't do anything to do him, and likewise, the establishment that ripped him off is not going to get charged either.

He really doesnt have much of anything to gain by pursuing this.

Chalk it up to learning experience, and don't do it again.

You should report this to the police, the local authority takes such cases very seriously as it damage the image of Shanghai. Due to the lack of evidence, you might not get very far but at least, it might get them blacklisted and they could lose their business licence.

Park Hotel is an old hotel where I have doubt in their security, since they are aware of the room you are staying, I will recommend that you change to another hotel out before you proceed to make the report.

You should feel like a dumbass. If you have read this forum at all before this adventure, you would know to NEVER FOLLOW A TOUT ON THE STREET!

They are not going to bother you any more. They're put finding another sucker.

It will do no good to call the police at this point in the story. If you were gong to call them, when you walked back into the hotel you should have walked up to the desk and asked the hotel people to call the police. The guy would have immediately left the premises.

There is a street in shanghai where you get ST for 200, I went there. Now don't remember the name, but it is in here, our fellow mongers recommended and I checked it correct. Check about 1-7 pages back you can find it. I will find it for you tomorrow.

Don't go to the report of motel 168. There is no more girl tout with white shirt no more.

You violate a big rule: do not go with touts. For male touts: NEVER.

Female tout, if she is young and cute by herself, it is ok. DO NOT GO IN their facility, this is death, if you don't know the place and them. That KTV has 20 pretty girls, but they choose to give you none, instead take 1400rmb of you for their fun. You must find a local friend, just don't put your luggage and valuables at her home like me hahaha. You can ask your hotel to find you a professional tour guide, very cheap, about 50usd a day you can pay the pro guide, who has license to do guide service, then you are in good hand.

If you do want to go by yourself, read this forum shanghai section more and write down info to go by taxi.

The other way is ask a taxi for help, but you don't want KTV. Never leave your taxi unless you see a BBS, with girls sit inside the door and pink light.

KTV, which looks like a club, is not the place to go ALONE. In korea, it is the same rule. Perhaps, Japan will be same.

And use the internet at chinesefriendfinder to search some deals for regulars locally. NEVER GO TO KTV. They can hit you to rob you. You did not get hit yet. Still lucky. My friends got hit in chengdu. These KTVs and bars are PARTICULARLY against other asians, even Chinese overseas.

So read it carefully and have do's and don'ts. You will have what you want, but must be at the right place. The safest place, it is saunna, which many hotels also have. Saunna guys won't rob or hit you, but KTV WILL, this is their THUGGISH way. They are like that to keep the girls. KTV got coverred by local gangsters, the real one like Yakuza. Saunna is not at all like KTV. Saunna is bathhouse, so it is better.

Yes, they cheat you because you re japanese, I am sure.

I got the same or worst than you did, although I only lost 200rmb

If you got gut, or next time, when the guy (make sure only one) following you to hotel to make more $$, hit him right in the face real HARD and you RUN.

Before that you don't tell him where you stay. These guys are mostly thugs, if you have the guts to do that, no problem.

Don't call police. Prepare a bat and come back nearby there with a cap on, to stalk the certain guy that took your money.

I fucking forgot the street name where I got this problem in another city. I wrote it down but lost it somewhere. Do not feel bad, I got worst than you.

Mind you, the correct price I paid for the same KTV deal (you were 100% led into a KTV, where they have girls, and price should be 300ST for Shanghai, and the room is about 400) for all long time singing and fruits and girls sitting by feeding me and a real girl home was 3200rmb 3 years ago. This is legit price, at least I think so, since I had a local girl guide with me.

Just to tell you the story to make you feel better, the local girl guide later told me I can leave my luggage at her room to travel to somewhere. I went, and at home, she search my luggage to take my diamond which worths 6000usd (in China, it worths more, later I found out)

Why did I leave that stuff in the luggage? Or why I bring it to China, I don't know. I was pretty careless about it bec I could not sell it back in usa. I never thought of selling it in China. If I thought about it, the store price for mine (a similar size but looks worth than mine) in Shanghai is 176000rmb.

Of course for this I went straight to police Xinhua road SH, which is right behind the guide's house. Police took report, and wanted to arrest the girl. I told them I just want my thing back. Police told me, forget it!

Later that guide tried to pay me back a total of 6000rmb via bank wire. I think this is surely the police work, and they would equal the value of 1rmb to 1usd. Anyway, a lesson for me, and now I am so damn stingy and careful in China. I fight with taxi over 10rmb now, if they cheat me. I fight physically!
