I agree with Santa. The girl will deny it and the mommy will do nothing. Having lost face, the girl may quit on her own and just go to another shop again. She may have been caught before, thus the bouncing around. The mommy will apologize profusely to Bill since he is a regular customer of hers. That will be the end of it.

On the other hand, I think a boycott works to a certain extent. The mamas in the "big tree" shop don't ask us for 250 anymore. They only ask for extra taxi fare. It does not hurt to make a point.

I caught a mainland SW in Hong Kong with a few thousand HK$ of mine in her hand. I went out to the ATM and met her on the way back to the hotel. She went through my pockets when I was doing her doggy. The chair I hung my pants on was in reach of the bed. Damn small rooms in Wanchai hotels!

Theft is one of the reasons I almost never keep a girl LT. You can't lock everything you travel with in the hotel safe. When I monger in CP, I only put 200+ RMB in my pocket. Previous posts mention fixed 20 RMB from the waiting taxis and vans. Motorcycles are now banned. I can confirm the last visit that I went up and down that line and could not budge any of them down from 20! I guess next time I just have to walk over to the other side and wait for a drop-off or bargain harder. Thanks for the updated info.

I always get 15 rmb from the train station to town. Best bet is to not talk to the pirates that wait right outside the exit area, best to go towards the front of the train station over by the 7-11 or main plaza, as these guys are more willing to accept 15 rmb.

Those jack-offs outside the exit area have formed some kind of loose knit taxi pirate union and one will normally not accept 15 rmb in fear of being labeled a scab.

The light blue or green/yellow taxi are metered and starts at about 7rmb and 6rmb, respectively. But some of the taxis will still try to rip you off, especially those near the "bread" van by quoting you a one time price or take you only to far away places. A typical taxi ride to the Miraton from the station cost about 7rmb with the yellow taxi.

I tend to look for the metered taxis on the main road. Prefer one that just dropped off a passenger and looking for return fare than one sitting around with the bread van for a long time and waiting for newbie arrival to target.

With the influx of metered taxis, the "bread" van you took can now be bargained down to 10rmb.

I think there is enough of us from ISG, that if we all said something to the mommy each time we went into the shop, she would learn real fast. Regarding your situation, give us some more detail and let's us complain to the same mommy. The name of the girl, where she sat, the name of the mommy, etc. Let them know that word does get around with bad services too.

Regarding your 100rmb payment, sometimes you just have to make the payoff just to avoid any flare-up and spotlight on yourself. We have all done it.

Was i just lucky? Came by fast train from HK to CP last Saturday. From the moment i left the train it took me no more than 7 seven minutes to pass customs and sit in a taxi to my hotel in CP. At customs they just checked my passport and visa but no x-rays for my luggage or any sort of checks for my handbags.

BTW, anyone arriving to CP trainstation, there are tons of unofficial taxidrivers that want your business even trying to get the luggage from you so that you have to follow them to their car. Don't let them! Once you are in front of the main entrance standing with your back to the train station just look out for any official taxis, you will see them to your right about 200-300 meters away. They come in light blue or green colours, use one of them, i had no problems. If you dont see them immediately just walk straight ahead towards the main street and look to your righthand side, you will notice them.

I paid 15rmb's for the trip to the Lucky Hotel, although initially he wanted 20rmb's. Don't know if i overpaid but it seemed a fair price to me.
