as of today, at 3:00 p.m., the hui hua's unsecured wifi signal is still strong. the windows' wireless connection menu gave me three bars out of five. the signal contained the hotel's name. there was also two unsecure connections, one with one bar and the other, no bar.

a internet connection test to the east coast us gave me 66kbps/dl and 47kbps/up.

but at a global connection test site, speednet.net, the connection speed to shenzhen was 9.2 meg/dl and 6.2 meg/ul. surprising high for upload.

most important, i was able to log onto isg without any delay.

check the mitos once again and this time the connection to isg was very fast. their connection speed was 3.6 meg and 426 kbps.

as far as i know, the last time i was there, the wifi signal in the hui hua lobby is good (unsecured) but, it could have changed. never know. there was no wifi signal that i detected in the miraton lobby.

Was i just lucky? Came by fast train from HK to CP last Saturday. From the moment i left the train it took me no more than 7 seven minutes to pass customs and sit in a taxi to my hotel in CP. At customs they just checked my passport and visa but no x-rays for my luggage or any sort of checks for my handbags.

BTW, anyone arriving to CP trainstation, there are tons of unofficial taxidrivers that want your business even trying to get the luggage from you so that you have to follow them to their car. Don't let them! Once you are in front of the main entrance standing with your back to the train station just look out for any official taxis, you will see them to your right about 200-300 meters away. They come in light blue or green colours, use one of them, i had no problems. If you dont see them immediately just walk straight ahead towards the main street and look to your righthand side, you will notice them.

I paid 15rmb's for the trip to the Lucky Hotel, although initially he wanted 20rmb's. Don't know if i overpaid but it seemed a fair price to me.

Had another great time in CP, nothing really new to report, but Sundays in CP are not much worse in terms of quantity/quality of BBS girls compared to the Friday/Saturday surges. I've never had a problem finding more than a handful of gals I'd do.

A couple of things, then:

Our Chinese manufacturing partners have BROUGHT FORWARD production dates - and I now need to be in Tianjin to inspect product prior to shipping on Jan 3 and 4.

Original date was Jan 16 and 17 - but these earlier dates make it impossible for me to make a CP visit work in terms of securing flights.

Upside is I will get 3 nights in Beijing - look out Mongolian *****s in Maggies.
