Heading to BKK for first time ever. I see some places mentioned below. Tulip is already on my list of 'must do's based on stuff I've read around Web. Can anyone recommend any of the places mentioned below (Angel, Thonglor 2, Akane, etc)? Stupid question--but how do you make it clear what you want (does 'oil massage' mean sex but aromatherapy doesnt???)

I am not thinking anything, I was just saying what Aey told in her own post. This is how the girls feel.
My personal thinking is to always reward good service. My minimum tip at annies has always been 500 and the most I have ever tipped was 2,000 (at Tulip).

You can't rely on Aey to be the girls spokesperson.
What the boss says its what's best for her business.
But at least the extra 200 Baht goes to the girls who were getting under paid (IMHO).

At Annies the girls get a very low cut from initial price which is not enough to make it worthwhile for them to service you. So 500 Baht is considered rock bottom tip for the girl unless she gave you no service worth anything at all. For a great service she might deserve significantly more than 500 so that she should make 1500 in total.

So you will classified as "Khee Niaow" (sticky shit) or very stingy indeed. If you don't like it I would suggest going to Tulip where standard for fs to girl is 1500 or perhaps you should go to soapies where price is all inclusive.

Advice noted and I'll remember this the next time I visit Bangkok. But I do stand my ground in that because I hadn't originally intended on having any fun in the city while I was there (I didn't think I'd have the time), in the light research that I did do I didn't read anything about how tips or tipping works in Bangkok and thus assumed the 1700 baht was all-inclusive. I must say that my experience with #24 was worth at least a decent tip but being completely new to Thailand and it being only the second day I was in the country, I was/am still a newbie.

No, actually a lot of girls were against the increase (from what Aey said). They are just worried about business in general and they felt that a 200 thb increase in price, even if it would go in their pocket could hurt the business.

That doesn't give everyone a licence to reduce their tip from 500 to 300 at all. Its possible some girls maybe happy with only 300 tip, but others not.

Look, tipping is at the punter's discretion and should stay that way. There is no such thing as a minimum tip so it can't technically be reduced.
Tipping is a monetary way of rewarding a great performance, it is not something someone must do.

At Annies, you pay 1700 for a lady, 2 hours and 2 shots. that's the basics. Now for me, an average session would warrant a 500 tip, and more if the lady really makes me feel good but other people do not have the same point of view (or the same income).

Some comments though. #24 did ask for a tip at the end, 300 baht to be specific. I have no issues with tipping but asking for a tip is incredibly tacky in my eyes. Also, while 300 baht isn't much for me, I don't like the idea of travelers overtipping to the point where locals will now expect that they should receive way more than the cultural norm. Just want to post a not-too-happy incident at bangkok Cosy with one of the papasan. If I did not rem wrongly, his name is Chai, 30+ man. But yours and mine may vary... Maybe he thought he can squeeze some money out from me.

Reached there early afternoon on a Sunday. Went to look at the selctions.. not too many though. Chai kept pushing number xxx to me. I asked the price for the different category. Prior to him leaving, I enquire about a gal from the middle section and asked about the price(again to confirm it is 1300). He mumbled yes and left.

Finally when I made my selection, from the middle section and was about to pay. He told me is 1600.I was clearly pissed. I questioned him and he told me, now in very clear english and pointing very clearly at the girls, the left side is 1300, middle is 1600 and right side is 1800. Looking at the poor girl, I put my money back into my wallet and told Chai I will look again. I sat down, with my mind set on leaving the place. Nothing wrong with the girl, just HIM. No mood to patronise them then...

starting to feel a bit tired after several late nights (or early mornings) so had for a quite day doing the touristy bits, thught to go for a mainly relaxing massage so went to Lavender massage on soi 22 as it looked less seedy than the other places. First half hour was a good massage, then she started a few sensual strokes, which was peasent enough. An hour and half of teasing and sensual massge cuminate in one oif the best hand jobs I have had.
