I thought it was a common knowledge that in Thailand (and perhaps a few other places) you need to mention any discounts upfront in order for a business to honor them. That way, you can indicate your displeasure by walking away.

I had issues even when mentioning it up front. The last time was at Analisa Massage. Giving the benefit of the doubt maybe just maybe their webmaster had not gotten around to removing it, or it cost money to remove it so they were slow in doing so. But basically I wrote it off to the farang 'bait and switch' and a part of the hobby.

At Snow White, I had quite an opposite experience. The ladyboy working the front desk had no trouble refunding me the 800 baht massage fee after I had trouble with a girl ( 10 min into the session). Didn't even press me to choose another one. Certainly got repeat business.

I had a miserable outcall experience once and the shop made good by sending another lady the next day (no charge) so I concur it is not all gloom and doom out there.

Whenever you fail to confirm a price in advance, you're open to potential abuse. Although to be honest, Thais are not as eager to take advantage as, say, Chinese or Vietnamese.

Although I am not really interested in "re-litigating" this incident that occurred a few years ago (my earlier post on it was just a kind of an "aha" post that I wrote in response to another post here), I often raised the happy hour discount at Snow White as I was paying on the way out without any problems. And Snow White was one of Nadear's main competitors (and still is). Moreover, in the incident I described, I was told the promo had expired and should have been removed from the website but wasn't, not that I should have asked for it when I first arrived. Nonetheless, I agree that had I asked for it on the way in, Nadear would have been more likely to give the promo given she would have probably known I might walk if she did not. But as I said, my reason for posting on this a few days earlier was simply I read something here about Nadear's counterproductive business practices, and it rang a bell.

I had a session there and when I went to pay asked Nadear (who was at the cashier desk) for the 200 baht happy hour (or maybe it was some other) discount posted on their website. Nadear would not give it to me and said it expired, even though it was at that point in time on their website with no expiration date stated, a fact she did not dispute.

This is a fairly prevalent business practice / scam. I have run into it myself at multiple establishments. Yes it is small money (and that is why it is not worth disputing) but is indeed a poor business practice.

I guess there's lots of guys on ISG who don't care that the information they seek gets mixed up and confused by stuff that can very easily be posted in the correct thread.

Korea this was a reasonable thread to make that inquiry. The general MP thread is also an appropriate place for the original posts. The subsequent posts were made by guys who were trying to be helpful. You tell me, what would have been the "correct" thread in which to place original post?

Traveler provides a brief history of why there are dedicated threads for Annie's and Tulip. I agree with your suggestion. It is time to merge the three MP threads into one.

The split tulip and annie threads were created about 6 yrs ago when they were the most popular oilies. This was when Soi 33 was still hopping and Soi 24 & 26 across the way was relatively bare. Things have changed and agree he should just merge them back again.

I totally agree with you on the business practice point. Its all about the principle, not the amount! If she made a fuss over 200 baht, who knows what other bad business practices she follows.

There is a very simple solution to flamers and trolls, which is to click on their profile and click the "ignore" button. Thereafter, you never see their posts although presumably others can.

I asked one former Cherry girl this question and she told me that the management at Cherry has become very strict and unsympathetic. They have increased their share of the profit that they get from the working girls. Also, if any girl does not show up at work due to sickness or otherwise, they have to pay fines.
