The owners have now closed 2 of their clubs (Penelope, Essen and Acapulco, Velbert).

It is a problem for the local mongers when the only club in driving distance shuts down. This is usually not a problem in Hessen or NRW. For the tourists it is not a problem anyway, they will just travel to a new and different club.

As for the WGs and other worker staff, yeah they lose their jobs -- tough luck. WGs are freelancers anyway and it is just a matter of finding a new club and gaining regulars again. The staff will probably find some other job nearby as long as the local economy is reasonably strong.

I was there last Wednesday 24/4 so this is a tiny surprise that something has finally happened at last after the way rumours have dragged on since the end of last year.

I was checking this site while I was over there and heard nothing so it's great that I had one last visit. I'll echo BigBuddy69 and say that the place was starting to falter. It desperately needed maintenance that had not been done and had a long list of repairs.

So is this a final closure?
