for others who might read this later, let me strongly echo the sentiment that david_33 posted. i visited the store just off benavides yesterday on los pinos and took a look at the merchandise. first of all, the selection is really slim when compared to the typical shop in the usa then, the prices are really high.

for example, you can buy a pretty simple and standard 4-speed bullet in most developed countries for about $20-25. the miraflores store wanted $67 for the same thing. wow!

the only way it would make sense to buy 'them down here in the future would be if the exchange rate goes to 7. 5 or higher to the ns. otherwise, i'll just bring toys with me in the future.

(yes, i did finally buy the bullet vibe. it took 15 minutes of negotiating, posturing, attempting to leave, etc. to finally get it down to a still-staggering $53. it's a high price to pay, but i just _love_ the look on a sweet chica's face, not to mention the feeling of her clamping down on me, when she gets that bullet going and starts rolling through the o's!)

Bunny Hunter, the sex toys here are overpriced. Just bring whatever you want with you. I have brought loads of every sized dildo and vibrator back without any problems at all. They are not illegal (like in LOS), and even if you did get opened up (very, very unlikely), it would be for having a few laptops in your luggage or something like that. If you are red lighted in customs, they just pass your bags through x-rays. Like I said, they only open up the bags if they see a bunch of electronics or bundles of $$. I have only been checked once in the last 8 years or so. Of course it was the only time I had two laptops with me...

I was waiting to leave one time on a flight from Ecuador and I got called along with one other guy to be accompanied to the baggage area. They took us to an area near where they were loading bags and dogs were sniffing and put both our bags up on a table. They started going through mine and came to the dopkit that had all my toys. I said 'oh no'. The guy opened it and started thumbing through until he realized what was in there and then kind of recoiled, quickly zipped up the dopkit, closed my bag and waved me on. A bit embarrasing but I had to make an effort not to laugh.

There is a small shop at the corner of Cantuarias and Pasaje Tello, a block behind KFC, between Block 3 & 4 of Larco. It is on the second floor but as David 33 stated, toys are much more expensive than in the states.

i have always done ok in iquitos. i went to a couple of places in leticia and tabatinga but either they were high priced pros (leticia), or i struck out (tabatinga). i hope you are not easily bored, because the transtur speedboat from tabatinga to iquitos takes a long time. after taking it down river from iquitos (around 10 hours), i flew out of leticia to bogota and back to lima to avoid the trip back up river.

Well Juan, I hope you have better luck in Leticia and Tabatinga than I have had. In three trips I couldn´t get laid once...hahahahaha.

From my online research, it looks like "Ze Gays" is the most popular bar-burdel in Tabatinga, evidently a description of the tranny owner, not the service. There are some old threads here on ISG that reference Bar Gardenias in Leticia. I'll check them out and report in a few weeks. Somebody posted on PoorButHappy earlier this year (now a dead site with only archive data) that Tabatinga is pretty wild nowadays. I'm there for the Amazon adventure and as a convenient route from Bogatá to Iquitos but my idle hours will be devoted to the devil's playground.

Iquitos gets a short shrift on ISG too. My favorite Peru board in Spanish indicates it is a terrific hobby destination but only in fantasy do I expect to find Angie Cepeda working there.
