Phuket Hotels

I'm considering spending a few days at the end of June with my regular PI gf in Phuket rather than in one of our usual PI haunts. Got conflicting reprots about the weather (for the few hours we'll be out of bed.) so can anyone enlighten me as to whether it usually rains a lot then?

June is in the wet season, so it will definitely rain. But you should expect to be able to go to the beach also. This link has a nice simple table with some stats:

"Every year is different. Some years are wetter, some low seasons are drier, and high season months can be rainy sometimes too. But the weather is normally pretty decent here in Phuket! The weather changes to "wet" sometime between end of April to early June. Normally the summer months are pretty good - certainly more sunny days than rain, but the weather in unpredictable and you can get some wet and windy days. Rain is usually sporadic short showers and can be very localised - rain in Patong beach but not Karon, just a few km away for example.

The "good" weather starts again sometime in October/November and lasts until April/May. The months November - February are a few degrees cooler due to fresh NE winds. March and April can be really hot, with very little wind."

I stayed at Summer Breeze last year but I guess Yorkshire Inn is a better option.

Can anybody recommend any hidden gems close to beach and Bangla in Patong. Thanks!

I have stayed at the K Hotel a couple of times and enjoyed myself. Just a couple of minutes stroll to Bangla Road.

Many thanks for the helpful information. Sounds like I should ckeck with the hotel about any guest joiner fee before booking. If you have any other recommendations for a medium-priced GF hotel with pool (and gym if possible) , within a 10 minute walk to both beach and Bangla, please do let me know. So far, Yorkshire Hotel looks viable, though the rooms don't look too inspiring on their web site.

Can not help you much more about hotels, 'couse after my stay in Deevana (during my virgin trip to LOS) I found that all I need is nice clean guesthouse (which is almost all GF). I was all day or on the beach, or on day trips to nearby islands, in bars, Jungcaylon, massage parlors. Only using room for sleeping, showering and after dark sex-capades.

I Stay in Deevana before year and half, aprox.

The hotel have new and old wing. I stay in new wing and photos on their website is accurate. Rooms in old wing are not in main building, it is more like little houses with 1 or 2 levels. The rooms are more basic in old wing and only complaint what I hear from people who stay there is that during night have lot of bugs flying around, because whole that old wing is surrounded with nice big garden and trees.

Location is not in the middle of action and you have 10 minutes walk to the beach (north side) and aprox. 20, 25 minutes walk to Bangla.

2 nice pools, great spa. And one of best breakfast I have ever taste, lots of choices from standard options to 3, 4 for Thai dishes (changed daily).

The stuff are great, always on your service, from girls on reception to woman's who clean rooms.

All info and photos on their site is like it is in real.

And they CHARGE for overnight guests 500B! But maybe that is change, better check with them via mail

Just a quick question: Has anyone stayed at Deevana Resort in Pationg? If so, could you provide a brief heads up about its location, rooms, facilities, staff, etc? I've been told it is guest friendly, but have not seen it mentioned in any GF hotel posts.

- Marriott Courtyard: definitely no joiner fees, and most of the time (or perhaps all of the time) the staff won't even look at you or require I'd. Downsides are that it's a place that would feel pretty uncomfortable bringing home a girl (or girls) in the daytime, and it's not a short walk to the Bangla scene (200 baht tuk tuk, which should be completely affordable to anyone staying in a Marriott, but it's still a ride rather than a crawl).

- BYD lofts: this is my favorite place in Patong, but it's also not a short walk (maybe a bit closer than the Marriott). Awesome rooms (actually apartments) , nice boutique style, and no hassle with joiners.

- Yorkshire Inn: by far the best location in terms of proximity to the scene, and the price is quite low. Rooms are ok, but clean and safe, and the place has a gym and pretty nice (or even very nice) pool area, and the food is good too. Also since many (or all?) of the rooms are in a different building than the lobby, there is literally zero hassle any time of day or night. Therefore it's probably a good bet for most mid-budget mongers.

Will stay a couple of nights Phuket in August. Sumer Brezee or Baipho seems to be a good choice so my auestin is which one is the better of them?

Yes, It is totally GF from my stay a few months ago.

Just for info. Marriott sold the hotel and a new owner will be taking over as of April 1st. The policy may change.

I will be traveling to Phuket at the end of February with a friend and we would like to find some cheap (under 700 baht is possible) accommodations. It sounds like most of you want to go stay in 2-3 star locations but all we really require are our own rooms, decent beds, and maybe hot water. And of course not completely disgusting.

Do any of you know of or have any advice on finding places like this within 10 minutes walking distance of Bangla? It is ok if it is not close to the beach. Really this is just a place to sleep and to take a BG or FL every once and awhile. Really the cheaper the better without degrading all the way down to shithole status (or maybe shithole for you but for me as long as there are no bugs / smells / holes in the walls it should be fine).
