Only Negative I See

As far as paying to enter the bar as a non-hotel guest, I would only do it if you know there's a decent number of women inside. There can be nights where there's no one in there (even before the recent changes).
I agree that staying there still can have advantages. It's always been a great place for a solo visitor to hang with like-minded travelers and serves as a good base of operations regardless of whether there are women hanging at the pool or bar.
Totally agree which is why I booked here for my first trip. It's like a MDE version of Blackbeard's resort in Dominican Republic where girls were available right on the property and like minded guys were there to chat with at the bar. And unique to MDE, as long as I pull girls only at the property or at casa during the daytime, I won't worry about getting drugged. The only negative I see so far for my purposes is that it might be a bit far to walk to the Metro stations.

I have stayed there before a few times. Now I am considering buying an apartment property. What do they charge for admission as a non-hotel guest? Is it possible to take a girl out of there back to my apartment?

As I've told others, even without the pool fun, Hotel M has some advantages. I wouldn't rule it out entirely just because of the pool.

They haven't had a newsletter for quite awhile now, couple years. Buddy just left there yesterday, said the cave was packed Saturday night, Sunday and Monday were excellent. I'm headed there tomorrow, will update on what I find out there. I have reservations for July & Dec there. LOL.
I was there that Monday night. In my opinion, it was dead! It was disappointing. I was there the Friday before that and it was even worse. I was shocked since it was a Friday night. But, I did hear Saturday night was packed and fun. Of course, the night I didn't go! LOL I'm anxious to hear your thoughts. How much is the Mansion, if you just stop through for drinks? The entrance fee?

Excellent! Hope a Thursday night won't be too bad there too as I'll be flying in on such a day and don't really want to go out right after travels especially on my first trip. I'm not a nightclub type of guy anymore so hoping that the cave will be all I need for my evenings rather than having to go out to La Isla or Fase Dos which will undoubtly cost more for roughly the same thing I would be able to get at the Mansion.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I plan on using Uber if I cannot use the Metro. Too bad I can't use Uber for airport pickup but I'll try to use it for my way back for my flight out if any Uber driving is willing to go that way.
Uber is readily available at the airport. The only catch is you'll have to go up the escalator once you get past customs. I use Uber Comfort when I leave the airport. It's basically the same price as the taxis and much more comfortable.

Well this news is all very depressing! I have booked the mansion for the end of May for 5 days (Sunday through Thursday, so already not great). I guess I can always cancel closer to the time, and worst case I've only lost one night of cost. But as it's my first time to Medellin, and especially given the recent security issues, I was looking forward to the mansion as a gentle introduction to made some new friends and start branching out to explore in a safer way. Maybe that will still happen, but I won't hold my breath and I guess I'll look for other potential venues, perhaps another city / country.
Ho hum!

That area is called the Golden Mile. There are restaurants all up and down Avenida El Poblado, in addition to the shopping malls.

There is a huge food court at Oviedo Mall downstairs Tons of different options. Also about 6 blocks further away is Santa Fe Mall, one of the largest malls around, food court is on top floor. Lots of the fast food options use real silverware too. Must try Frisby chicken my favorite. Much better flavor & juicier than any american chicken places. My friends said last Saturday the cave was packed with chicas.

But authentic local breakfast might not be great for that long unless you like 5 kinds of grilled or deep fried meats and eggs, etc. I usually opt for rice and beans and small helping of scrambled or omelette, and corn tortillas. Maybe a bit of ham or bacon, but can pass on that mostly. And prices in the nicer places on Poblado Av are not that much more than smaller more local types say around Parque Poblado, a block off of Ave. Poblado around 10th Calle.
