It is now 01:00AM. I am undeterred as I studied statistics and the Logic of Chance (or something like this). Essentially, it HAS to get better. I have hit rock bottom and can only go upward. This was my first visit here in ten years. Back in 1999 & 2000 I found the place boring and full of shitty hotels and devoid of decent places to eat. The dumpy hotels abound here but the Mallberry Hotel, opened three years prior, giving CDO its first, decent business class hotel. I quickly made friends with the beautiful General Manager of the Hotel. She likes me and went out of her way to make my week long stay enjoyable. I got a nice, executive suite, room at a decent rate.

The Hotel has 24 hr room service and I used this regularly with Clariz and my beautiful Malody. The one Restaurant on the ground floor is okay and the food is decent. But it lacks any ambiance. With the major expansion the Hotel is now completing, they need an elegant, fine dining establishment. The bistro restaurant has live music nightly from 8:30PM to 12:30AM. The only nights worth mentioning are Wednesday & Sunday when a beautiful, young filipina sings here. Melody and I sat here Sunday evening sipping red wine and listening to her sing untel she was done. Staff is good here and attentive but not intrusive. Left us alone as melody snuggled in my arms.

The fine dining establishment in CDO is La Venetta, which GoodEnough calls EXCELLENT!. Good wine selection and great, gourmet foor. It is a ten minute walk or a two minute cab ride from the Hotel. In the same area is a lovely "Walking Street" full of Bars and Restuarants and Bistros. Very nice. The Hotel is also next to a good shopping mall.

On the three nights when I visited Clubs, the Hotel Staff made certain that the taxi driver knew where to take me. This is important. Many CDO taxi drivers cannot speak any englsih. And many have just come from a small town or village in the Province and know little of the Nightlife here. One driver mistakenly took me to a disco. It actually looked good but I wanted to get to Fastastic again to see if Clariz was dancing there. She had cancelled out seeing me that Saturday night, citing the prior night's motorcycle accident of her brother. Just wanted to check her story and it gave me reason enough to return to Fantastic.

So if you like the bars you visit and wish to see them thrive you may wish to consider the contents of posts made. The Philippines is not Thailand, CDO is not like other places because of the attention being shown by overseas foreigners who think that they are on a moral crusade.

For those who like to pay for what is often termed on posts as a 'take out' service. Please understand that entrapment may occur and this will have nothing to do with the bar!!
