Befriended me through PM. He told me he thought my posts showed a different thought process that he found interesting. Invited me to photograph his Super Bowl party. Arrived early and met him for the first time. Met me on the street and gave me his parking spot in the building. That's the type of man he was. Met Grownman there. Which was a very positive turn of events.

BBQ Ribs was the type of man (unlike many others who post in the DR forum) who would air his differences with me in private. And the truth is was we had plenty. But that never prevented a healthly debate or exchange of information. As my experience with the DR Forum increased I understood why he quit posting here. I used to hang out at his place and he showed me around his part of town. He came over to este and I did the same for him. Many did not know it but he had some severe health problems that I advised him to get checked out that year of the Super Bowl Party. He packed up and headed back to the US a few months later.

We both liked rum and bourbon and would exchange bottle information often. He ran a lovely rotation of ladies through his pad. His passing reminds me not to pay attention to the haters and continue enjoy my life on my own terms.

If they are serious about becoming a family destination here are a few signs to look for over the next six months.

Hotels starting a one guest per day policy. Nothing kills a family destination faster than mongers running several girls daily while couples and kids are there.

Clubs and bars closing at midnight. Most families don't stay out late.

Strollers and children more visible.

Trash and street kids removed.

More English speaking Dominicans getting jobs at hotels and restaurants.

Even the experts on the ground are confused.

I've also talked to expats that live in Puerto plata and supposedly the real estate market there is heating up. Many blacks are relocating there and opening businesses.

A guy told me that one of his Sosua girls had moved back to Santo domingo and he said he would visit her there. She said, "Its no longer 3 k, now its 5 k". He asked why? She said, "In the capital I'm not a puta and that's the going rate in la Capital ". The SD girls are waiting for Sosua guys LOL.
