One hotel nearer Mainhattan is the Golden Leaf Hotel und Residence, which is on the tram 11 route and just a couple of stops from Daimlerstrasse. I'd stay there again but they charge extra for wifi (WLAN) just like IBIS.

Others may recommend the new B&B hotel which is also close by, but I have no experience of staying there.
